I think Erin may possibly be connecting a sharp cocoa flavour with a peppermint cane as she may have had in her youth. That association sticks around so now cocoa has a sense memory of being slightly minty.

I don’t clock mint or dark chocolate in Oreos - I’d like it if I did, but that’s never occurred to me. I kicked soda as a teen, and your tastes do change, but I big recommend Portland Syrups a craft mixer company. Their cola syrup you mix with seltzer is like an explanation of what it’s supposed to be if made from plants.

I think oreo has a distinct non-chocolate subtle almost chemical flavor (that I like) under the sugar, cream, and chocolate flavors but its definitely not mint. Also classic oreo is a perfect ratio of cookie to cream, Adal's just wrong.

My hot take: The absolute only things I have ice in is water, cocktails, or a brewed drink that I want cold. Soft drinks, no ice ever. It's already cold out of the fountain. Even canned drinks in grocery stores are cold enough to not need refrigerated.

As someone recovering from an eating disorder, I really wish JPC would stop moralizing about food. It's actively harmful to people with disordered eating. Its ok to day "I don't like x food" or "this tastes like poison to me," but when you start making statements about food as if it's fact, that's triggering.

Sinners was great, but I think they spent way to much time building up to the vampires, and not enough time with the vampires. I get the point that it’s a dramatic twist, but honestly it kinda felt like it came out of nowhere. It would have been better if the vampires showed up earlier

I agree with JPC, Signs is a bad movie. Not only do the alien’s plot make no sense (invading a planet covered in their 1 weakness), but the moral is “isn’t it wild how all these coincidences came together to save one person’s life… in a movie that was backward engineered to have that ending?” Plus the fact that it’s a global situation, it would be amazing to have that NOT happen to someone. A lot of people are still dead, I don’t care about one family.

Cory you are 100% correct. I commented in another place but this line of "all or nothing" thinking when it comes to diet is backward both scientificlly and socially. As you said, JPC does know the difference between comedy and being willfully wrong, which is one of the reasons I like his comedy to begin with. We don't have to coddle this kind of thinking

Erin is 105% correct that the cookie part of Oreos is dark chocolate. The sugar in the cream makes the whole cookie taste more like milk chocolate. As for minty, it's not in the first 500 words I would use to describe Oreos, but I can accept it poetically in the sense that Oreos have kind of a "cool" flavor rather than "warm."
