Gosh! I’m so behind on HRR, but I just watched the movie and this popped into my feed like divine providence (or divine algorithm lol) anyway y’all are the best!

Mig Windows Creations

Since there’s a marvel boy in every movie I’m crossing my fingers the next one is either Pedro Pascal or Michael B Jordan! Or Sebastian Stan! And then spend the whole movie having them seem suspicious as hell only to have the bad guy be like, Paul F Tompkins lmao

Chris Pearce

**Spoiler alert** If you've ever seen Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny. PFT is in it as an MC and in the end turns into Satan, does that count as him being a bad guy? Lol

Erin I had the same thing happen! I was raised catholic, altar server, etc etc, but walked away from Church about 15yrs ago. Watching Josh OC's role in this actually made me go to mass for the first time in more than a decade and I am having a slow, complex, but quite deep re-approach to faith at the moment and have gone to mass a few times since, with a view similar to what you described

Kate Robbins

ERIN I HAD THE SAME EXACT THOUGHT!!!

I loved the first two movies, but found this one surprisingly dull. I managed to guess the mystery early, and nothing revealed was ever surprising or fun. I admit I'm pretty anti-religion, but I still didn't find anything interesting about the story or characters.

Frankenjam

One of the few films I actually watched across the break. Really enjoyed it, glad to hear you guys did too.

Yall nailed why I wasn’t an 100 on this in the casting misses. Thank you glad to hear you guys not being tortured tbh!!

I left seminary when I fell in love, and this movie made me realize why I wanted to be in that position. So I had my own crisis for a minute there.

Kermit as Benoit Blanc saying "scooby dooby doo" prints money.

About the Cat’s song? Bc it’s a cassette tape- which makes me think that’s literally just what he was listening to when he pulled into the police station

Kate Robbins

It was more in reference to her comments regarding organized religion. I also have had those moments of “man I wish there was a place that I could be a part of” and then I’m quickly reminded of the chaos of the current state of religion where I live. This movie was a solid reminder that there are good priests out there.

If you guys love Josh O’Connor, might I suggest him in Kelly Reichardt’s “The Mastermind”?

Ed B

The lighting is studio lightening, I have a bad memory so I might get this slight off but I remember realising it represents Josh O’Connor faith, it’s bright and warm when he’s sure and steady in his faith and it get darker when he’s troubled. If anyone watches again, you’ll see the correlation. Also Josh O’Connor was in The Crown as young prince Charles!

Roeland Bencosme

If anyone is looking for the community aspect then I would suggest Quakers meetings

James Quinn

Anyone else feel like grandpa wicks was made out like a good guy, but obviously brutally failed his daughter, controlling and emotionally abandoning her?

riss

I was soooooo happy to hear the cats song lmaoooo I died

Drew Carter

Well, Catherine O'Hara just passed away, so Erin's prediction for knives out 4 is wrong I guess :(

I just watched this this weekend. It was good. I've enjoyed the Knives Out movies more than I thought I would. Mila Kunis as the sheriff was definitely weird. Glen Close as Martha was good. Her random jump scares were hilarious.

Benjamin P Parson Gomberg

It felt to me like he was actually being shown as the root of so much of the abusive cycle. He blamed his wealth and the gem as corrupting people, but he was actually the one who corrupted those close to him by mistreating his daughter, and poisoning his grandson’s outlook on life to continue the cycle. Even after his death the gem and his grandson continued to cause pain and suffering, his legacy both literal and figuratively was the ultimate villain of the movie.

Can I just say, I love the dialogue here about religion and religious experiences that helped the movie relate to you. Thanks for the honesty, vulnerability, and even curiosity. I was raised evangelical, and I attribute the deconstruction and reconstruction of my faith to the people who welcomed questions rather than dogma, valuing compassion and justice over ideological/theological supremacy. “The opposite of faith is not doubt. It is certainty.”
