From Adal:

Did a small bit of traveling last month! Went to Animal Kingdom at DisneyWorld for the first time and loved it! The tree of life was super cool, Lion King live show was neat, lots of fun! The only rough parts were sitting front car on the Everest Expedition (I think I just need to not ride roller coasters ever again. I don’t like the sensation of feeling like I’m about to die!) and we waited two hours and changed for the Avatar VR ride which WAS COOL but about 3 minutes in I vomited in my mouth due to motion sickness and had to either spew it all over this $200,000 screen and system or swallow it. After that I felt awful for about 2 hours and then we went to Trader Sams and all my worries melted away! Absolutely in love with that tiki bar. Truly magical.

Jemma and I also went to Denver to see Guster at Red Rocks which was a delight! I had never been to Denver and really enjoyed getting to peak around the neighborhoods. Jemma’s step-sister lives in the Baker area so we got to walk around there a bit and I highly recommend if you’re ever in town you stop by The Wizards Chest! It’s hands down the coolest board game/costume store I’ve ever seen! As I was walking around I discovered some of the workers/owners are Magic Tavern listeners so I got to autograph their D&D Handbooks which was a delight. Please check this place out and tell me what games you get!

Oh we also went to the Colorado Ren Faire! Outstanding people watching and some really great shows/stores/acts. Colorado….it turns out…..is a beautiful state! WHO KNEW!

I’m super excited for our HRR trip to Copenhagen in a few weeks and our show in Odense, Denmark! If you’re near Odense on Saturday August 22nd, come check out the show and say hi! It’s part of their Improv Festival so we’ll be there about a week teaching workshops and taking in the sights!

Jemma and I are also headed to France in September if you have any recommendations for the Bordeaux region! I’m not a wine drinker but I’m very much into food.

I think that’s about it? Hope you’re all doing well! Let me know in the comments if you’ve stumbled upon anything you recommend! I’ve already found some gems from you all passing info along!

Oh! If you’re in Chicago this Sunday the 8th, you should head over to Lincoln Hall and catch our friends Greg Hess and Holly Laurent do a live show of their phenomenal podcast MEGA! The guests are out of this world great and if you see Greg/Holly please tell them I sent you!

One last thing! I think a few folks have asked for a copy of my recommendations for New Orleans so I’ll post them here for anyone who might be interested! If you have any I missed let me know!

Below is my full recommendation list but I also listed just top 5 must go!

1. Coops Place - get the Sampler platter

2. Killer Po'boys - they have 2 locations, go to the one that's hidden/tucked into the back of a bar called Erin Rose. If you like frozen Irish coffee get one at Erin Rose to pair with your po boy as you eat!

3. Felix's Oyster House - I think it's better than ACME which is across the street from it and where most tourists go. Chargrilled oysters here are phenomenal

4. Central Grocery - birthplace of the muffuletta. Get half of one here and if you love it as much as I do I'd recommend getting a full one to go and take on the plane home. They taste even better a day later because the bread soaks up all the olive

5. Cochon Butcherie - has all kinds of tasty stuff

Bonus - Lucy's Retired Sufers Bar - at first glance it seems tacky and out of place and a place you'd absolutely avoid as they're best know for serving a real scorpion in a shot glass you can eat BUT weirdly enough, this place has the best shrimp and grits I've had in my life. My local friends told me about it, I was rolling eyes when I got there but as God as my witness the shrimp as grits really was the best.

Other places I'd recommend!: Bayona, Herbsaint, Irene's, Elizabeths (best brunch in the city! get the praline bacon), The Joynt (BBQ), Willie Mae's Fried Chicken is amazing! as is there bread pudding! The Elysian Bar - for food and/or drinks! Old Church converted into a restaurant. Horns for brunch!

Here's the full list if you're looking for anything else:

Shaya is the Israeli restaurant and I ate there this year thinking, meh it'll be fine, but it's legit incredible. One of the best meals I've had anywhere.

1. Cafe Du Monde - super obvious so we'll get it out of the way. Must have their beignets and chicory coffee, touristy but fun

2. Central Grocery - right by Cafe Du Monde, they invented the Muffulletta. One of the best sandwiches you'll ever eat is here. It's huge so you may want to get this the day you leave so you can take leftovers with you.

http://www. centralgroceryneworleans.com/

3. Cochon -so so good. if you're looking for a nicer date meal this place is perfect. Amazing food, great cocktails. I can't wait to go back myself: http://www. cochonrestaurant.com/

4. Po' boys at Parkway OR Mothers OR Erin Rose (called Killer Po'Boys, in the back)  - all 3 have great po'boys but Killer Po Boys is my favorite: http://www. parkwaypoorboys.com/ OR http:/ /www.mothersrestaurant.net/  OR  http://killerpoboys.blogspot. com/

5. Oysters at Felix's OR ACME Oyster House OR Dragos - my favorite is Felix's but ACME is the most popular and is right next door. For god's sake get the chargrilled oysters if you go to Felix's

6. most stuff at Coops - if you're looking for a cheaper meal with just a relaxing hole in the wall atmosphere and a sampling of all dishes New Orleans this place is perfect. http://www. coopsplace.net/

7. a drink at LaFitte's - The oldest serving bar in the US. Since 1770. It's haunted and really neat.

8. Music at Preservation Hall - This is another must. My favorite place I went to in NOLA. Live music in a tiny venue.  This place is a must go http://www. preservationhall.com/hall/

9. Surrey's - amazing brunch. Shrimp and grits here is killer as well as anything with biscuits. http:// surreyscafeandjuicebar.com/

and then definitely hit up Frenchman street at night for some phenomenal music! There’s also a kind of hidden night market on Frenchman street with all kinds of cool art, jewelry and clothing!

Drinks:

10. Napolean House -  the bar that popularized the Pimms Cup, get one!  http://www. napoleonhouse.com/

11. Pat O'Briens - they invented the hurricane. Fun to get one at the place it was first served but they are also insanely strong. Plan on splitting one maybe so you don't die. http://www.patobriens. com/patobriens/

12. The Sazerac Bar at Hotel Roosevelt - the place that invented the Sazerac. Great for a drink after a nice dinner. http:// therooseveltneworleans.com/ dining/the-sazerac-bar.html

13. Cane And Table - awesome cocktails in a really neat building and it's right in the Quarter so limited travel if you eat at Coops or somewhere in there

14. Beachbum Berry's Latitude 29 tiki bar if you're into tiki drinks! Just fantastic

Love,

Adal

From JPC:

Hey everyone!

Okay, July fucking flew by but was also very stressful! I'm hoping that for a less stressful August and so far (half a day in) so good! Here are some things I finished in July:

- Assassin's Creed: Valhalla - I think I put over 100 hours into that game and it was just okay! It certainly didn't need to be that long. I'm looking forward to an August where I play more than one game.

- Rhythm of War by Brandon Sanderson - I finally just sat down and knocked out the last 400 pages. Overall, great book! There were parts that I loved and parts that were only okay, but an enjoyable read on the whole. But now I have to wait until 2023 for book 5. I'm filling that hole by reading the rest of Sanderson's "Cosmere" novels and I'm starting with Elantris. Luckily it's much shorter than the Stormlight books, so I'm already halfway done.

- Rewatched Ted Lasso Season 1 - Okay, this shouldn't count as finishing something, but Mariah was gone for a day and I re-watched in anticipation of season 2 (so far, so good) and I highly recommend if you have Apple TV

Okay, so what's up this month? I just started playing Hollow Knight on Twitch. I'm so fucking bad at platformers so you can tune in to see me say "why JPC?" over and over again. I'm another month into Invisalign and I can't really see a difference in my teeth. 127 days to a perfect smile! I should have done that thing where I take before and after pictures but I didn't! Billbuds is covering the new WILLOW album which is a pop-punk inspired turn and that is always welcome to my ears. Adal, Erin and I are heading to Demark (absolutely wild) at the end of the month to teach improv and do a show. I'm legit so excited about that. I also haven't taught any improv in over a year and, as you might be able to tell from listening to the show, I'm absolutely not prepared for it.

Okay, and I wanted to start asking you all a question in case anyone feels like engaging in the Patreon comments. So here's my burning question based on this morning's breakfast and a conversation that I had with Mariah: What's your ideal breakfast taco and you only get to pick 3 ingredients, 1 sauce and 1 tortilla type. Not to influence your opinion too much but for me it's: corn tortilla, scrambled egg, potato, chihuahua cheese, and tabasco chipotle pepper sauce. Sound off in the comments and I'll tell you if you are right or wrong!

Okay that's it for me!

Love,

JPC

Hey Riddle Riddle

I (Adal) forgot to mention I’m also watching the news season of Big Brother!

Lane Meyerson

Adal! I was at the Ren Faire this weekend and I am bummed I missed you in town. I also live two blocks from Wizard's Chest. Missed connections indeed. JPC, flour tortilla, potatoes, ham, cheese (forget the egg part!), mild salsa because I'm a bitch when it comes to spice Erin, I love hearing how happy you are with Sean on today's episode! Love seems cool.

cal bruce

Whole-wheat tortilla, scrambled tofu, black bean and mushroom, avocado (in place of cheese) and Nando’s medium peri peri sauce 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Kelsey Mulholland

I LOVE Repair Shop Adal, I wish there was a thousand more episodes. JPC, my incorrect answer is potatoes, vegan egg, black beans with sriracha sauce and in a bowl, forget the tortilla. Hi Erin!

Meg

flour tortilla, scrambled eggs, chorizo & monterey cheese with some tomatillo salsa. fun fact, I have a gecko named Tomatillo.

Naurmael

JPC I was wondering what cosmere books you have yet to read? One of my favorite series! A more indepth question what order in Stormlight speaks to you the most whether it's the ideals or cool abilities? Also flour tortilla, fried egg AND scrambled egg, onion, and ghost pepper sauce.

Mordekai

I still say the hurricane from Lafitte's is my number one recommendation. Lafitte's uses real juice and they layer it (DO NOT STIR). Pat-o's uses a kool-aid type premix which they also sell and isn't as good. Flour tortilla, bacon, potatoes, egg, cheddar (not an ingredient but a requirement, come at me) and a green chili sauce. And... SEAN! I meant scene!

Legotti

Eggs, fried potato, pepperjack cheese (Apparently I love cheese more than pico. Melty-gooey goodness) ; salsa verde ; flour tortilla, but actually I'd rather have naan so the wrapping is a value-add too.

Tanisha Ystad

Flour tortilla, diced steak, Pico, scrambled egg, and Monterey cheese 🧀 😋

Anna Collins

When we're low on groceries my partner and I make white tortilla, scrambled egg, bacon, and siracha mayo tacos. It is the Assassins Creed Valhalla of breakfast tacos.

Anna Collins

Speaking of Sexy Beasts, how do we get y'all to watch a weird trashy dating show for Review Crew (to punish JPC)

Jasper G

seconded! is it too late to Review Crew Sexy Beasts?

Anna Collins

I want to create a truly insufferable dating show called "Sapiosexual" where the contestants have to solve riddles to go on dates

Ty Zuniga

Flour Tortilla; Chorizo, Potatoes, Dairy Free Cheese, and instead of a sauce, black pepper!

Paul Dewey

Would love to read Shruump’s answer to JPC’s breakfast question!

Adal, if you hit France, I lived in Lyon for a month, and it's definitely worth checking out Old Lyon if you can make a day trip. Alternately, go to Pays de la Loire for fish. The Loire river empties into the sea there, and so they have salt water fish from the ocean, shellfish from the delta, and freshwater fish from the river. I really want to visit myself someday. Avoid Paris. It's not worth the time you could spend elsewhere. Don't bother ordering escargot - it just tastes like whatever broth it was in and you may wish you'd got something different. Take-out isn't a thing over there so order what you plan to finish. And gratuity is built in so no need to be tipping. Enjoy the farmers markets - its the local standard grocery stop, moreso than actual grocery stores. Don't reheat the baguette - something about the fresh stuff caused my shitty hostel microwave to scorch! A proper restaurant, I had really amazing mussels at. Another - not a fancy french meal, but still one of the most gratifying I've ever had - go to the Brioche chain of restaurants for lunch if you see one and you're hungry. Got some kind of simple cheese and dried meat sub - they didn't have the same kind back home. I put my super fresh sandwich on a tray, got to choose a dessert with it which was an amazing chocolate muffin, and after I paid they gave me a gold token. Which by complete surprise, was for a coffee machine that came with the meal. Just endless waves of comfort and gratification and tasty. Enjoy it while you're there though - I saw another Brioche when I arrived back in America, and it was disgusting preservative-pumped American food. Was heartbreaking. Fast-food is typically in the form of kebabs if you need a snack - but ironically the casual food frenchman can't cook beef - all of em smash, dry out, and overcook - so don't bother with it outside a nice restaurant. If you want to spring for a really fancy meal - Check the Bocuse d'Or Competition which is held in Lyon. Any French winners you'll be able to visit will be something special.

Legotti

I wager a bowl of hard-tac and cheerio's, entirely misunderstanding the concept.

Kathleen Sawisky

Every month I come here thinking "oh yeah I've got a really cool thing to recommend" and realize I am a total square, so instead I'm going to start recommending things my toddler is really into. If you're looking for a cool YouTube series, I recommend checking out "fans". Not the first video that pops up, because that will just be 10 hours of a fan sound, but the dude showing off all the overhead fans in his house before they move is apparently riveting. Books? You really want to read "Where's the Bear?" And the follow up masterpiece, "Where's the astronaut?" The plot twist at the end of both of them (spoiler, where are you?!) is like nothing ever accomplished before in literature. If you're looking for a new drink, check out "Special Milk", which is like regular homogenized milk but with chocolate syrup added to it. Bored and need something to do? Try aggressively pulling at your genitals and crying.

Elise Demeter

Are you just watching the show or catching the live feeds/following them online somehow? Two totally different games depending on how you're consuming! Pls let's jam about BB somwtime 🙏

Æsel MT

DENMARK! WHAT!

Hey Riddle Riddle

I've only read the main 4 and the 2 novelas and I honestly couldn't name more than 2 of the orders. Also, wrong.

Naurmael

Thank you! I'm so sorry. Mistborn is truly fun to read as well

Mr. Martini

I highly recommend the anime Odd Taxi! Sort of has a bokack horseman vibe, excellent writing and cute characters with a plot that gets very twisty with some genuine tragic moments. Corn tortilla, scrambled eggs, black beans, crispy potatoes, tomatillo salsa.

J-Bru

Corn Tortilla, Scrambled Egg, bacon, cheddar cheese, and that sauce my mom puts on enchiladas but I always suspected was meant for tacos.

Evan Cordero

Soft Tortilla, Scrambled eggs, sausage, Mexican blend cheese, chalula

Andrew P

Corn tortilla, scrambled egg, chorizo (can be vegan), cotija cheese, chipotle hot sauce.

Naurmael

Adal your story about the VR ride is relatable myself and my daughter waited such a long time in line just for her to be too scared to ride it and had to wait in the next room and I not really get to enjoy it. Everest expedition is my favorite ride in animal Kingdom and years ago my friend and I went on so many times in a row the gentleman started letting us go through the fastpass line because they were not that many people around and we always took the front seats

JoEllen Alberts

Yes, LOVE everything cosmere and Brandon sanderson

Ryan Hoffmann

Adal thanks for the New Orleans list! My cousin is planning on having her 30th birthday there and we were in desperate need of recommendations. Definitely going to have to check out more than a few of those. And JPC, gonna have to go with blue corn tortilla, over easy egg, fried potato, diced pepper, and I need to second the tobasco chipotle pepper sauce. Honestly this is my breakfast at least twice a week and like a snickers, it always satisfies

Rudy Cuellar

corn tortilla, soyrizo, eggs, potato, topped with some valentina hot sauce 🤌🏽🤌🏽 magnefique

Gareth Devlin

Flour tortilla, scrambled egg, cilantro, avocado, Sriracha. Corn tortillas are the devils work.

Cathy Wood

I too was at ren fest this weekend! Perhaps we passed by one another at some point. Did you have a favorite show this year? We enjoyed the Acrobatrix and were very excited to see the lady knight in the joust

Lane Meyerson

We all loved the lady jouster! We toured the shops more than the shows but I thought the hypnotist looked cool! I was dressed as a little fey, strapless blue dress and an orange/red leafy skirt with. Blue and purple flower crown! One of a thousand though 😂

Hey Riddle Riddle

Just watching the 3 eps a week! Although I did check out the live feed footage of them doing improv! Pretty brutal!

Ellyse

Adal - you all will be showing up in France right after the country takes their monthlong vacation! Good timing! Food wise eat as local as possible, the French pair foods based partially on geography, and therefore pairing wine and cheese, for instance, is as much about location as it is taste. Kill a whole morning in a cafe if possible and people watch or read or just vibe. Personally I love the french countryside, and they have really nice little bnb type spots if you want to do a mini trip. Look for hedgehogs at night!

Ellyse

Re: JPC : trick question. Flour, eggs, fruit, butter, real maple syrup or a little chocolate, the best breakfast taco is a crêpe

Ellyse

Oh! Adal-- the French are pretty strict about manners. Make sure you always say bonjour before anything else, or hello, or it's considered extremely rude!

moxpox

Adal, the city of Nantes is about three hours out from Bordeaux, and if that's not too far out of your way, I highly recommend a day at Les Machines de l'Ile. It might be my favorite place in the world. Imagine if Terry Gilliam were allowed to make his own animal-inspired theme park on a little island. That's basically what this place is.

Shelby

Corn tortilla, scrambled eggs, black beans, fresh pico, too much cotija, and drench that shit in Aardvark

Maggie R.

Breakfast taco with cilantro, sweet potato, fried egg, and chorizo (I know there are soy versions for the veggies out there). 😙🤌
