I like the direction they're taking it. People told me the manhua was more 'comedy' and I was kinda scared they'd do that here but so far everyone is happy they aren't inserting too much comedy in serious situations. It gives more weight to the emotion I think, to not be jumpscared by a joke when something is about to make you cry

I don't know the specific instrument but it's some traditional Chinese instrument. They use those liberally in ancient China based donghua. There's definitely a dizi (side blown bamboo flute) here and a bit of guqin (Chinese zither) but idk what else is used

In e1, Xiao Nian evolved to emperor stage mid battle (and became the winged all devouring whale) and with that, its powers grew. Fan lingxiao had been cultivating his catfish for years so all of that gave the whale a bigger boost than some newbie could give an emperor so his chances of winning were pretty much 90% until he was killed
