Great vid! All of the characters are amazingly written, but my favorites so have to be Suo, Tsubaki, and Sakura! It's definitely a deeper show than you'd think! I feel like at least one character is relatable to everybody! I definitely cried *WAY* more in this show than I expected to when I read the summary😅

WEEE as promised, yapping and notes incoming: - so far, at least the script of the dub seems to be mostly accurate to the original, thankfully. the character voices mostly match too, although the direction definitely gives some characters a bit more...attitude? than they have in the original. this sadly happens a lot in EN dubs though - localization and voice direction tends to make characters sound more sassy, rude or otherwise "casual" than they do in the original. in this case, it's not too bad, but if you know the original it's noticeable for sure. - adding to the first point: in the sub, nirei uses the -san suffix for everyone. i think they made him a tad more casual in the dub, while in JP, the way he speaks sounds more chipper & innocent in a way. the same goes for suo. he's a very polite guy, using -kun & -san depending on the person, but the dub makes him sound pretty easy-going, even more than nirei. - when suo jokingly introduces himself as dicaprio, JP sakura tries to awkwardly introduce himself in english LMAO , though it makes sense that they'd switch to a different language here, of course - in JP, when suo jokes about his eye patch, instead of "i would've thought it was an eye injury", nirei actually says "wasn't it from a past accident?" indicating that *is* what really happened based on his research.

lastly, to answer your question about character popularity! out of the characters you've met so far, the most popular would probably be suo, sakura and the white-haired guy you saw halfway through the episode. you'll get to meet him soon :) also really appreciate that you're liking nirei so far! i've seen many people be annoyed by him, especially early on, because he fits into the typical "weak sidekick" trope, and that one's rarely ever popular. personally, i have a soft spot for those kinds of characters because they often tend to be the most realistic, and i think it's important to have at least one. and as you've said, he may not be a good fighter, but the fact that even so, he was able to stand up for someone else knowing he'd get ganged up on and beaten - that takes a LOT of courage.

The PlusUltra Perspective

Yessss you get it. I’m team nirei. He can’t fight yet. But he has heart. And I love people with heart
