Chapter 78: Oryon is Going to Be a Father (Patreon)

Vegeta shook with rage, his whole body trembling, and blood seeped from his wounds again.
In the end, he still turned his face away.
Oryon stood off to the side, watching the two Saiyans clash on a spiritual level, and didn't interrupt.
Once they'd said their piece, he finally stepped forward and gently pushed Goku aside.
"Let's get back to Dende and have him heal this guy first, or he really will end up joining his dead Saiyan ancestors."
Goku nodded and bent down to lift Vegeta off the ground.
Vegeta scorned the idea of anyone carrying him — especially Kakarot.
But he had no strength left to resist, and his whole body slumped limply against Goku's shoulder.
Piccolo glanced at the badly wounded Vegeta and said coldly, "This guy's got one hell of a will to live."
Vegeta had no energy left to snap back, and couldn't be bothered with a Namekian anyway.
In his mind, Saiyans were a cut above — Namekians weren't worth his time.
Oryon raised his right hand and pressed his index finger lightly to his brow.
He closed his eyes for a moment, focusing his awareness.
Whether it was Earth's coordinates or the location of the Grand Elder's dwelling, everything surfaced clearly in his mind.
It was like opening the full map in a game, right inside his head.
Though plenty of spots were still dark, not yet lit up.
He called out to Goku and Piccolo. "Both of you hold onto me — I'll take you straight there."
Goku blinked, looking fascinated. "Oryon, what move is this now?"
"It's called Instant Transmission. It gets you to the Grand Elder's place in the blink of an eye." Goku looked amazed. "What, you learned a new technique?"
"Cut the chatter — grab onto me, and I'll tell you where to learn it in a bit."
Goku lit up with excitement again.
"Really? Can I learn it too?"
Oryon nodded. "You sure can!"
Hearing this, Vegeta felt a small stir inside.
If it came to learning a technique, he — Vegeta — would surely pick it up faster than Kakarot.
After all, he was the genius, while Kakarot was just a low-class warrior.
That held true even without becoming a Super Saiyan.
And if he did become a Super Saiyan, then between two Super Saiyans, he'd surely be stronger than Kakarot.
So Vegeta told himself.
Goku held Vegeta steady with one hand and rested the other on Oryon's shoulder.
Piccolo reached out and placed a hand on Oryon's other shoulder.
"All right, here we go — hold on tight!"
"Whoosh!"
The three of them felt as if the scene before their eyes shattered apart and then pieced itself back together.
The next instant, all four of them were standing in front of the Grand Elder's dwelling.
Dende was peering out from the doorway, and he jumped when he saw them suddenly appear from a distance.
Then he spotted Vegeta held up by Goku — the guy was covered in blood, barely breathing.
"Mr. Vegeta, did you get beaten up again?"
Vegeta had no strength left to get angry, not even enough to curse at Dende a little.
Seeing that Vegeta's condition looked bad, Oryon spoke up quickly. "Never mind the questions, Dende — heal him first."
"Mm!"
Dende dashed over without a word, pressing his small hands to Vegeta's chest as a white glow lit up.
Vegeta's wounds began closing at a visible speed, his broken bones snapped back into place, the swelling on his face gradually faded, and his breathing steadied.
A moment later, Dende let go, his forehead beaded with sweat.
"Mr. Vegeta, are you all right now?" Dende asked quietly.
"Hmph, I'm fine!"
Once he'd recovered, Vegeta let out an irritated snort.
Dende blinked.
"Did I say something wrong?"
Piccolo's face stayed indifferent, while Goku and Oryon just smiled and said nothing.
Vegeta had done nothing but get beaten up the whole way through — it would've been strange if he were in a good mood.
Just then, Moori walked out from the house, with Nail following behind him.
Seeing Oryon and the others return safely, the worry on Moori's face finally eased a little.
He stepped forward and asked, "What about Frieza?"
"Already dealt with!" Oryon said.
"But Frieza's not the only one out there — the forces under him aren't pushovers either."
"Now that this planet's location is exposed, it isn't safe here anymore."
"So, I'd like to invite you all to stay on my planet for a while. I haven't asked yet, but — would you be willing to come to Earth?"
Moori and Nail exchanged a glance.
Nail's expression stayed calm, as if he'd already prepared himself for this.
Moori sighed and nodded. "Thank you for taking us in."
"But our people... aside from the few of us, everyone else was killed by Frieza and his men."
Oryon smiled faintly. "Let's get to Earth first, and talk after."
"Namek's Dragon Balls can only revive one person at a time — not very practical for reviving a whole group."
"Earth's Dragon Balls can bring all the Namekians back at once."
"But we'll have to wait a while. They were just used a few days ago."
Moori's eyes brightened. "What? So that's how it works."
Oryon said, "Yeah, whoever made each set of Dragon Balls set them up a little differently, so they work a little differently. Nothing to worry about."
Moori nodded, then turned and said a few words to Dende.
Dende nodded firmly and ran off to pack, with Nail following after him.
Before long, a familiar ki came streaking in from the horizon.
Krillin touched down, sweat pouring down his face, cradling five Dragon Balls in his arms.
He saw Vegeta sitting there in one piece, and it startled him at first — then he patted his chest and let out a breath.
"Is the fight over already?"
Oryon nodded. "It's over. Goku won!"
Krillin carefully set the Dragon Balls down on the ground.
Moori walked over, crouched down, and stroked the Dragon Balls, murmuring, "The Grand Elder entrusted these to me. I'll take good care of them." Oryon nodded, then turned to Goku. "Goku, if you want to learn Instant Transmission, just head straight to Planet Yardrat."
Goku's eyes lit up. "Planet Yardrat? How do I get there?"
Oryon thought it over for a moment. "Next to Frieza's Attack Ball, there are a few Attack Balls that belong to the Ginyu Force."
"Their ships already have their destination set — Planet Yardrat. Take one of those and you can fly straight there."
"Going there, you won't just learn Instant Transmission."
"Your mastery over ki will improve too — you'll come back stronger!"
"Awesome, I'm going, I'm going!"
Goku said excitedly.
A flicker of longing rose in Vegeta too.
"I want to go too!"
Oryon glanced at Vegeta. "If you want to go, go with him — Goku's not great at flying ships anyway."
"But Vegeta, be a little gentler with the Yardratians. You're the one asking a favor of them, after all."
Vegeta snorted coldly. "Hmph, I know. I know as much about Yardrat as you do."
"The Yardratians aren't strong fighters, but they've mastered plenty of unique techniques."
Oryon nodded. "Right. Well, off you go then — I won't see you off."
Vegeta snorted again. "Hmph, it won't take long to fly there anyway. I don't need you seeing me off."
Goku and Vegeta boarded one of the Ginyu Force's Attack Balls together and took off.
Krillin stared at the now-empty ground, mouth hanging open. "Oryon, they've gone off to Yardrat — so what about us? Are we heading back to Earth?"
Oryon said, "Yeah, we're heading back to Earth."
"But we won't need a ship this time — I'll use Instant Transmission to take everyone back at once. Sound good?"
Everyone froze for a beat, caught off guard.
Krillin said, startled, "Instant Transmission can cover that much distance?"
Oryon nodded. "As long as I can sense the ki, I can reach the ends of the universe."
Krillin sucked in a sharp breath.
"That's incredible! You're something else, man!"
"Wait — why didn't you use such an amazing move on the way here, then?"
Piccolo, too, looked at Oryon with curiosity.
Oryon said, "Instant Transmission only works by sensing a ki signature, or by traveling to a place I've already been. I can't just go wherever I feel like."
Piccolo nodded.
So it wasn't some limitless power to go anywhere at will — otherwise it'd be far too broken.
Krillin hurried over and grabbed onto Oryon's arm.
Piccolo pulled Dende up with one hand and pressed the other on Oryon's shoulder.
Moori and Nail moved in close too, and the group formed a circle.
Oryon closed his eyes, and Earth's outline surfaced in his mind — the blue planet turning quietly in the void of space.
"Wait, wait!"
Goku's voice rang out again.
Oryon opened his eyes; Goku came zooming back in a rush.
"What's wrong?" Oryon asked. "Why'd you come back again?"
"Oryon, there's something I want to tell you."
"What is it?"
Goku rubbed his hands together, looking a bit sheepish. "Come here for a sec!"
Oryon leaned in close to Goku's ear.
Goku whispered something, an awkward grin on his face.
Oryon patted Goku on the shoulder. "Using me as your bargaining chip — you've got some nerve."
"Still, a little detour along Snake Way does sound like fun to me. I'll let it slide this time — go on."
Goku grinned and flew off again.
Krillin blinked in surprise. "Oryon, what were you two talking about?"
Oryon reined in his smile. "Goku wanted me to help him get some time off from Chi-Chi."
"Oh..." Krillin had a feeling that wasn't the whole story.
Oryon called out, "All right, everyone hold on tight — we're heading out!"
Krillin, Moori, Dende, and Piccolo all grabbed hold of Oryon.
Oryon closed his eyes, and the map unfolded in his mind.
Choosing his own house might stir up some misunderstandings, so Oryon picked a beach with a gorgeous view instead.
With a thought, he triggered Instant Transmission.
The world spun for a moment, and then familiar air filled their lungs.
A salty sea breeze blew past, warm sunlight settling over the group.
Krillin plopped down onto the grass, completely limp.
"Earth... we're back!"
Dende stared wide-eyed at the scenery around them — lush green grass covering the little hill, and in the distance, a shimmering blue sea.
Moori and Nail, off Namek for the first time in their lives, were struck by the entirely different scenery too.
Piccolo stood off to the side with his arms crossed, looking at Moori, Dende, and Nail.
"This is Earth. For the next few days, I'll be your host — I'll take you to where I train!"
Moori, Nail, and Dende all nodded.
Krillin scratched his head. "Well, since Piccolo's hosting his own kin, I'll head home too!"
Oryon nodded. "Right, guess I'll head home too."
Oryon pressed a finger to his brow, and the coordinates of Capsule Corporation surfaced in his mind.
"Whoosh!"
Oryon vanished.
Krillin couldn't help but marvel, "So that's Instant Transmission, huh? Man, that's convenient!"
Oryon's figure appeared in the living room of Capsule Corporation, sunlight streaming through the floor-to-ceiling windows and lighting up the whole room.
He'd barely steadied himself when hurried footsteps came clattering down the stairs.
Bulma and Lunch came running down one after the other, both in loose loungewear, unable to hide the smiles on their faces.
"You're back!"
Bulma covered the distance in a few quick strides and threw herself straight into Oryon's arms.
Lunch followed right after, wrapping her arms around his other side.
Sandwiched between the two of them, feeling their warmth, Oryon let out a long breath.
"Everything's wrapped up on Namek. Frieza's dealt with too."
Oryon wrapped an arm around each of them and kissed each on the forehead in turn.
Bulma tilted her head back, eyes shining as she looked at him. "I knew you'd pull it off."
"But you were gone so long, I was worried sick."
Lunch pressed her face against Oryon's shoulder, murmuring softly, "As long as you're back — that's all that matters."
Just as Oryon leaned down to kiss Bulma on the lips, she stopped him with a finger.
Bulma stepped back out of his arms, exchanged a glance with Lunch, and suddenly wore that mysterious little smile.
Her smile left Oryon completely baffled, though a vague sense of what might be coming stirred in him.
"Oryon, I've got some good news for you." Bulma put her hands behind her back, playing it up for suspense. "You'd better brace yourself."
Lunch giggled behind her hand, her cheeks flushed pink.
"Quit stalling, just tell me," Oryon said, laughing.
Bulma took a deep breath, her voice light and quick. "Lunch and I are both pregnant."
"We found out not long after you left — we've already had a doctor confirm it!"
Oryon froze.
It felt like something had lightly knocked against his brain — it took him several seconds to react.
He looked at Bulma, then at Lunch, his mouth opening and closing without a word coming out for a long moment.
"You... you're both pregnant?"
"Yeah!" Bulma nodded. "Both of us."
Lunch added quietly, blushing, "Me too. The doctor said it's already been over a month."
Oryon suddenly felt his legs go weak.
He stepped back half a pace and dropped straight onto the sofa.
Startled by his reaction, Bulma and Lunch hurried over and sat down on either side of him.
"What's wrong? Are you feeling sick?" Bulma asked anxiously.
Oryon waved a hand, leaning back against the sofa and letting out a long breath. "I'm fine — I'm just really happy."
"We tried so hard for so long and nothing happened. I was starting to lose my confidence."
"And now, all of a sudden, two at once — I'm so happy I haven't even caught up with it yet." Bulma burst out laughing and gave him a light pat. "You, not confident?"
"You're about to become the strongest in the universe, and you're still not confident?"
Lunch laughed too, her shoulders shaking, and said softly, "Bulma thinks it might be because we got younger."
"That our bodies are in better shape now, which is why it happened so easily."
Oryon nodded.
Despite having two wives, they'd been trying for a whole year without any luck.
Now that it had finally happened, the knot of feeling in his chest finally loosened.
He glanced back and forth between them, hesitated, then lowered his voice. "...Can we still sleep together, after this?"
Bulma's face flushed, and she reached out and grabbed his ear. "Is that all you can think about?"
"The doctor said we need to be especially careful for the first three months — of course we can't fool around!"
Lunch's face turned even redder, nodding along quietly. "So... you'll just have to hold out for a while."
Oryon looked at Bulma, then at Lunch, sighed, and put on a resigned expression. "Fine, I'll hold out."
"If I really can't take it, I'll just go train and burn off all my energy before I come back."
Bulma huffed. "That's more like it."
Oryon spent the whole day at Capsule Corporation with Bulma and Lunch.
He cooked for them, took a walk with them in the yard, and once they'd both settled in for the night,
he sat alone out on the balcony, letting the night breeze wash over him.
Early the next morning, Oryon got dressed, said goodbye to Bulma and Lunch, and told them he was heading out to train.
They both knew his strength, so they didn't try to stop him — just told him to come back soon.
Oryon walked out the door and flew off toward Fortuneteller Baba's palace.
