Frieza's massive Attack Ball touched down.

Two figures stepped out first.

The one in front was tall and broad-shouldered, wrapped in a dark cloak, his skin showing an odd tint of purple, a pair of curved black horns rising from his head.

This was King Cold.

Behind him, Frieza had half a mechanical body — machinery had pieced his shattered remains back together, leaving him looking like some kind of cyborg monstrosity.

Frieza said, "Father, this is Earth!"

"It's the people from here… Especially that Saiyan, Goku. He's the reason I ended up like this."

Frieza's expression had gone dark as pitch, his eyes brimming with fury.

King Cold laughed. "This tiny little planet? I could crush it without breaking a sweat!"

"Father, that wouldn't settle anything. I want to wait for Goku to come back and kill him with my own hands."

According to intelligence from Frieza's forces, Goku and Vegeta were on their way back from the planet Yardrat by ship.

They were still two hours out from Earth.

Frieza put on his Scouter, swept his gaze across Earth, and said, "So that he regrets it the moment he arrives, I'm going to kill every last Earthling."

"There are a fair number of them, but two hours will be more than enough."

The thought of those Earthlings living in dread of endless slaughter — all because Goku had angered him — sent Frieza into laughter.

"Ha ha ha ha, they had it coming! I'll make sure every one of them knows — Earth ending up like this is the Saiyans' fault!"

King Cold said, "It doesn't matter what happens to Earth, but the Super Saiyan — whatever it takes, he needs to be wiped out, root and all."

"The strongest power in the entire universe should belong to our bloodline, and no one else's."

Frieza nodded. "Right. With Father and me working together, we're sure to beat him."

"And to be safe, I've already boosted my power."

With that, Frieza turned and announced, "All right, everyone spread out! Wipe out every last Earthling!"

"Yes, sir!"

Not far away, Krillin, Piccolo, Tien Shinhan, Chiaotzu, Yamcha and the others watched Frieza's massive army, cold sweat breaking out on all of them.

"Such terrifying ki. So this is Frieza?" Tien sucked in a sharp breath.

Yamcha swallowed hard. "So this is the Frieza you all had to face. I can barely imagine it — he's this terrifying."

Chiaotzu counted off on his fingers. "And there are two of them that strong."

"With only Oryon here on Earth right now, could he actually lose to them? Could Earth get destroyed?"

Sweat beaded on everyone's foreheads.

Krillin glanced around.

"Come to think of it, Oryon should be able to sense his ki by now. Why hasn't he shown up yet…"

A bead of sweat rolled down Yamcha's forehead. He muttered, "Don't tell me he sensed two overwhelming ki signatures and got too scared to come."

Krillin shook his head immediately. "No way. Oryon isn't that kind of person."

"He's a Saiyan too — he's got to be as strong as Goku, maybe even stronger…" That's what Krillin said out loud, even as he kept silently chanting to himself:

"Hurry up, Oryon. They're about to start slaughtering everyone on Earth."

Just as everyone stood tense, unsure whether to engage Frieza's army head-on, a figure came streaking through the sky.

Everyone looked up.

"It's Oryon!"

"Is this guy seriously just flying in out in the open like that?"

Krillin looked up at Oryon, his pupils trembling.

"What is he doing? Flying right out in plain sight — he's going to give himself away…"

Oryon spotted Krillin and the others, stopped in midair, and waved down at them in greeting.

"Hey everyone, you're all here…"

Tien shouted at once, "Get down here! Frieza's army is right up ahead — he'll spot you!"

Oryon raised an eyebrow. "I came here specifically to take them out. So what if he spots me?"

Everyone choked on their words.

Krillin dropped his voice, urgent. "Oryon, get down here! There are too many of them — if you charge in alone, something bad's going to happen!"

Tien frowned as well. "This isn't the time to show off. We should figure out a strategy first."

"Frieza and his father aren't ordinary opponents. Rushing in recklessly is too dangerous."

Yamcha's lips felt dry. He said quietly, "He's not really planning to handle this alone, is he?"

Oryon glanced down at them, looking completely at ease.

"Relax, just watch from the sidelines. Once I finish them off, I still need to get home and look after the kids…"

With that, Oryon waved at Krillin and the others, turned, and flew straight toward Frieza's army.

He wasn't moving fast — Frieza's soldiers spotted him right away.

Chiaotzu's eyes went wide. "He's really going!"

"So, should we go in too…"

"Go in, my ass. We can't even touch a fight on this level!"

Piccolo kept his eyes locked on Oryon's retreating back, not daring to look away for a second.

Out on the barren wasteland, soldiers stood packed shoulder to shoulder around Frieza's Attack Ball — at least a thousand strong.

They were being handed their assignments, preparing to scatter and slaughter every human on Earth.

Frieza stood at the front, saying something to King Cold, when a sharp alarm suddenly blared from his Scouter.

He looked up to see a figure drifting slowly closer through the air.

"Who's there?" Frieza narrowed his eyes.

Oryon stopped not far in front of them, feet off the ground, hands tucked in his pockets.

The wind stirred the hem of his clothes.

He swept his gaze over the dark mass of Frieza's army below, looking at them the way one might look at a patch of weeds.

Oryon spoke up. "No need to spread out — let me save you some time. Come at me together."

Frieza laughed despite his fury. "You think you can act this brazen all by yourself, in front of us?"

Oryon didn't bother answering. He simply raised his right hand and gave a casual sweep.

A visible wave of ki surged out from his palm, blanketing everything before it.

The wave spread in a semicircle, and in the blink of an eye it had swallowed the entire formation of Frieza's army.

A thousand soldiers didn't even get the chance to scream before their bodies were shredded apart in the white light.

All that was left in the air was a haze of fine dust — even the blood had been vaporized instantly by the shockwave.

The wasteland fell silent.

The once-dense army had, in an instant, been reduced to just two figures — Frieza and King Cold — standing alone on the open ground. Beside the Attack Ball, a few scorched black marks remained, the only proof that all those soldiers had ever been there at all.

Watching from a distance, Krillin dropped straight onto his backside, his mouth hanging open wide enough to fit an egg.

"...A thousand men, gone just like that?" Yamcha's voice cracked.

Piccolo's pupils contracted slightly. His face stayed mostly calm, but his palms clenched without him meaning to.

The sweat on Tien's forehead finally slid loose, dripping into his collar.

Chiaotzu opened his mouth, but no words came out.

Krillin had it right — at a Power Level this far out of reach, people at their level could only ever be cannon fodder.

"I can't believe Oryon wiped out that many of Frieza's men in one move…" Krillin gulped.

It wasn't that Goku couldn't have done it — Krillin just knew Goku well enough to know he'd never go that hard.

Still, what Oryon had just done was genuinely stunning.

Frieza stood frozen in place, the smile locked stiff on his face.

He turned his head mechanically, his expression darkening by degrees.

"You…" He ground his teeth, fury quickly swallowing the alarm underneath.

"Don't think wiping out a bunch of grunts makes you impressive."

"I'm not who I was back then. My power's grown far beyond that — and you're going to pay for this!"

He took a step forward, his mechanical body giving a faint click, the ki inside him beginning to surge wildly.

Purple energy spilled off Frieza's body, sending the rubble around him tumbling outward.

King Cold stayed where he was, a faint smile still on his lips, though his eyes had already gone cold.

He stared at Oryon, his mind racing through calculations.

Krillin called out at once, "Everyone, better fall back."

"Back on Namek, Frieza and Goku fought so hard the sky went dark."

"The ground got torn to shreds, lava came spewing up, the whole planet was nearly destroyed — this guy is terrifying when he loses it!"

Everyone flinched, then took a step back.

Piccolo let out a cold snort. "Tch. Retreating won't help. If he's really set on wrecking Earth, nothing's going to stop him…"

Cold sweat broke out across everyone's foreheads.

With the grunts cleared away in an instant, Frieza stepped forward to face Oryon down.

Frieza suddenly burst out laughing, raising both hands high overhead.

A ball of crimson energy condensed rapidly between his palms, swelling bigger and bigger, until in the blink of an eye it looked like a miniature sun.

The space around it began to warp; the rocks on the ground turned red and cracked from the heat.

"Supernova!" Frieza roared, hurling the massive orb of energy straight at Oryon.

The blast tore through the air at tremendous speed, plowing a deep, scorched trench wherever it passed.

Fierce wind exploded outward in every direction, sending Krillin and the others stumbling back, forced to shield their faces with their arms.

The heat was so intense that wild grass hundreds of meters away curled up and burst into flame.

"Get out of the way!" Yamcha screamed.

"Dodging won't do any good — Earth's finished!" Krillin shouted.

Oryon didn't move. He just raised one hand.

He simply aimed his palm at the Supernova and fired off a beam of ki.

With a thunderous boom, the crimson orb was knocked off course, ricocheting violently up into the sky.

It punched through the clouds, climbing higher and higher, before finally detonating far beyond the atmosphere.

The blinding flash lit up the whole night sky like daylight, and it took a good while before the light finally faded.

Frieza's smile froze solid.

He stared blankly at Oryon, his eyes betraying naked terror.

"No… impossible… I'm clearly so much stronger than I was back then. How could you just swat aside a Supernova—"

[Author's Note: Requesting flower votes...]

King Cold looked just as stunned.

A notification chime rang out in Oryon's mind from the System.

[Ding! Host bullied Frieza. Target's Power Level: 179 million. Reward: 100 days' worth of cultivation growth fruit.]

Frieza actually had grown a little stronger — he'd apparently adjusted to fighting in this form, gaining nearly sixty thousand more Power Level than before.

But Oryon had grown far more than that, so even though this counted as a normal-state bullying, the reward had shrunk considerably.

That familiar power surged into his body once more. Oryon clenched his fist, feeling the ki circulate through his veins, then slowly drifted back down to the ground.

Krillin was too stunned to speak properly. It took him a long moment before he stammered, "He… he knocked aside an attack that strong without even transforming into a Super Saiyan?"

Piccolo took a deep breath. "This guy's gotten ridiculously strong."

Frieza's head snapped up, his face twisted into a mask of pure rage.

He let out a furious roar and charged at Oryon full speed, his mechanical right arm slicing through the air with a sharp whistle as it swung for Oryon's face.

Everyone braced for a drawn-out brawl, the kind of fight that would leave Earth in ruins.

After all, whatever else he was, Frieza was still Emperor of the Universe — he wouldn't go down easily when fighting for his life.

But Oryon never gave him the chance for a drawn-out fight.

He stood his ground, and only when Frieza closed in did he suddenly throw a punch.

There was a dull thud, and Frieza's body went flying backward like a kite with its string cut, a spray of purplish-red blood spilling from his mouth.

Oryon slowly raised his right hand, a faint blue light kindling at his fingertips.

The light gathered brighter and brighter, until it finally took the shape of a fist-sized Energy Blast.

Oryon looked at Frieza, whose eyes were now brimming with terror, and said, "I'm not like Goku. I don't warm up slowly. So — go ahead and die."

With that, Oryon transformed into a Super Saiyan in an instant. The Energy Blast in his hand abruptly swelled and shot forward, striking Frieza dead-on.

"BOOM!"

White light instantly swallowed Frieza. Only a brief, strangled scream escaped from within the blaze before he vanished completely, without a trace.

Where the explosion had struck, a massive crater remained, faint wisps of smoke still rising from its floor.

And just like that, Frieza, Emperor of the Universe, was no more.

Krillin swallowed hard.

Tien and Yamcha exchanged a glance, and each saw the same undisguised shock reflected in the other's eyes.

Piccolo let out a slow breath and murmured, "That guy… he never even used his full strength."

In the distance, King Cold's earlier composure had vanished without a trace.

The corner of his mouth twitched as he forced a smile and called out to Oryon, "I quite admire your strength."

"If you're willing, I can hand you countless planets — make you my son."

"Afterward, father and son together, the whole universe would be ours!"

Oryon's expression turned icy, as if he'd just heard the most tedious proposal in the world.

"Are you out of your mind?"

A jolt of fear shot through King Cold; he abandoned every last pretense of dignity.

He spun around, abandoning the Attack Ball behind him, and shot into the sky like a bolt of purple lightning.

He moved with tremendous speed, and in an instant was about to break through the atmosphere.

Oryon looked up at the fleeing figure, slowly raising his right palm.

An Energy Blast, even more concentrated than the last one, spun to life in his hand, aimed straight at King Cold.

"You're not getting away!"

With a dull boom, the Energy Blast tore through the air like a silver thread shooting into the heavens.

A few seconds later, a burst of blinding light bloomed in the far-off night sky.

King Cold didn't even have time to scream before his entire body was blown into dust.

The shockwave spread out beyond the atmosphere like a cold, blooming flower. The wasteland finally fell into complete silence.

Krillin stared at Oryon's back, his lips trembling for a long moment before he finally choked out, "Oryon… this isn't even close to just being a Super Saiyan."

"Goku fought Frieza on Namek until the sky went dark, and here you are — two hits and you wiped out both father and son."

Yamcha wiped the sweat off his forehead, his voice still shaking. "That's insane. That's just insane."

At that moment, Oryon wasn't giving a single thought to whether Frieza and his father lived or died.

The reason he'd come wasn't just to kill Frieza — he'd also wanted to see whether Trunks would show up.

That was why he'd waited until everyone had gathered, only revealing himself at the very last moment, right as Frieza's army was about to scatter.

Fortunately, even after he'd killed both Frieza and King Cold, Trunks still hadn't appeared. A weight seemed to lift off Oryon's chest.

It seemed this world had no Trunks in it at all — which meant the future held no variables to worry about.

Oryon had long since taken precautions against the heart disease that would strike Goku in the future.

Goku would be back soon, so Oryon decided to stick around a while longer — he wanted to give him a heads-up.

Tell him to hurry and find the Dragon Balls, then wish on Shenron to never fall ill.

Otherwise, if he died from it, he wouldn't be around to fight the Androids down the line.

For Goku, fighting strong enemies mattered far more than any kind of immortality ever could.

And while he was at it, he'd let everyone know what he knew about the future.
