Chapter 096: The Evil King Rudeus Has Arrived (Patreon)
Content
In Rudeus's vision…
Nuclear Fusion Elemental Sprites. Nuclear Sprites for short.
In normal times, they would hold a corresponding energy level within their bodies and replenish their energy as needed. They wouldn't just be able to observe at a much finer granularity. With all that extra energy, they'd gain even more functions too.
Wave-band detection, for one, could penetrate cover directly and scan for anything inside a bunker, or even beneath the ground! Then there was anti-magic detection… and anti-thermal detection… Add the light refraction effect they already had, and Nuclear Sprites would become truly invisible. And whenever a Nuclear Sprite became visible, that would be the moment a real attack was launched!
So the remaining problem was how to fit a nuclear fusion reaction onto a tiny Elemental Sprite.
Time slipped by.
On the road to the Millis Holy Kingdom, once Rudeus had confirmed that everything was completely fine on Paul's end, he threw himself into researching Nuclear Sprites with Nanahoshi Shizuka.
Ghislaine, meanwhile, trained with Eris on the roof of the carriage, under the guidance of Dragon God Orsted, using the bodies Rudeus had strengthened. Dragon God Orsted, naturally, had become everyone's coachman. His daily duty was to pick up a little whip and keep the oxen pulling the carriage moving.
Day after day passed. Finally, just as they reached East Port, at the far southeastern corner of the Central Continent, Rudeus finally got the Nuclear Sprites working.
Until now, he had used five types of Elemental Sprites: light, dark, water, wind and fire. But after constant discussion with Nanahoshi Shizuka, he had greatly simplified his old Sprite-crafting program. To make better use of the limited function space, he had also merged the functions he wanted. The result was a single-attribute Elemental Sprite…
The Electric Sprite!!!
For stealth, he fused the earlier light refraction function with anti-magic, giving the Sprite dual counter-reconnaissance against both light and magic energy.
For detection, he replaced the earlier visualization function, which worked like a camera, with wave-band detection complete with an alarm.
For offense, besides the earlier laser attack, he added a radiation death ray and sympathetic detonation.
For support, he sharply reduced the computation each Sprite handled within the old computing cluster and added concurrent computing across the whole cluster. Then he folded the old mana-absorption function into the newly added nuclear reaction function, and added a summoning function!!!
That was the full set of functions of the Electric Sprite.
It looked quite complicated, but the real complexity was in the programming. In actual operation, it was easier than before by several orders of magnitude, and the reaction speed was much faster too.
As for computing speed… each Sprite's individual computing function had been cut by eighty percent. But a central hub placed above Rudeus's head, dedicated to coordinating the cluster, could consolidate the information sent in from everywhere else and pass it on to him in one pass. That alone raised the efficiency of the whole cluster threefold!!!
All in all, information processing was simply faster!!
Then, through teleportation circles, trillions of Nuclear Sprites were deployed to every corner of the world. By then, Rudeus and the others had left East Port, in the southeastern corner of the Central Continent, and arrived at West Port, on the western side of the Millis Continent.
Coming back here after so long, Rudeus felt a rush of emotion.
He remembered his first arrival. Back then he'd been wary of Hitogami (Human God) prying out useful information, while wondering how he could ever defeat the God!
Now Dragon God Orsted had become his good teammate and coachman. And the utterly vile Hitogami (Human God) was running out of ways to deal with him. As long as things kept developing steadily, Hitogami (Human God)'s tricks would gradually lose all effect, and all that would be left was to quietly await the day of his own death!
It was fair to say that the Rudeus standing at West Port on the Millis Continent now, compared with the one who had come before, had changed beyond recognition, in his own strength and in his circumstances alike. Everything was getting better and better!!!
So… how wonderful!!!
Seeing Rudeus standing beside the gangway and not moving, Eris couldn't help asking out of curiosity.
"What good thing are you thinking about? You look so happy."
At Eris's question, the others turned to look at him too.
Rudeus smiled. "I was thinking about the scene when we first came here."
Nanahoshi Shizuka asked curiously, "Has this port changed a lot since your first visit?"
He shook his head.
"The port is the same port, and the surroundings haven't changed," Rudeus said with a smile. "But my own situation has changed completely.
"The first time we came here, Hitogami (Human God) was dragging us along by the collar. This time, Eris and Ghislaine are far stronger than before. I've grown stronger too, with Shizuka's help!! And on top of that, we've got Dragon God Orsted, a seriously reliable teammate!!
"We've broken free of Hitogami (Human God)'s grip once and for all!!!"
Eris, who had traveled with him all along, nodded with deep feeling. Dragon God Orsted even let a rare smile show.
Nanahoshi Shizuka laughed, moved as well. "Honestly, I just talked a few ideas over with you, that's all.
"The one who actually made them real was that superhuman brain of yours!! Sometimes I can't help marveling that it's practically beyond human! Your comprehension and logical thinking are frighteningly strong!! The moment you get an idea, you understand it and put it into practice. It's seriously scary. If I were your enemy, I'd be down on my knees right now, begging you to let me go."
Listening to Shizuka, Rudeus laughed. "That's a pretty good line. So I'll shamelessly, humbly accept it. Hahaha!!"
Nanahoshi Shizuka gave Rudeus a beautiful eye-roll. "Well, it's true..."
As her words faded, everyone burst into happy laughter.
Despite all this, not one of the people around them dared come over and complain that Rudeus and his group were blocking the way.
After the declaration in the capital of the Millis Holy Kingdom, the Alliance of the Righteous and the name of the God-rank Mage, Evil King Rudeus, had spread thoroughly across the Millis Continent.
And whatever people did for a living, the most important thing was to watch, listen and learn!! As the legendary Rudeus, he was naturally known to many, and having heard of him, they certainly wouldn't dare get in his way.
It was right then that the West Port administrator, having received word, hurried over with his subordinates as fast as he could. He carried orders from His Holiness the Pope of the Millis Holy Kingdom.
He had come to welcome the God-rank Mage, Evil King Rudeus, who had traveled all the way from the Central Continent!!
