Yesterday evening, around ten thirty-ish, I felt a little burned out with rendering and scripting so I decided to stop a little early and pick something short and sweet from my games backlog. I came across Venba, an indie title I picked up for free on amazon gaming I think?

The game basically tells a story of an migrant family through the medium of little cooking assignments. Long short, not two chapters in I found myself bawling my eyes out for the first time since my mother passed away last year, and I guess I really needed that. Apart from the feels, it comes with an actual recipe book for the food you cook in the game, so that's a steal.

Also, it raises the very important question why there's not dosa shops all over the place here, because hot damn, dosa! Especially the ones with potato and masala, I couldn't get enough of those that time I went shoe stringing across India in my twenties, and nearly gave mom a heart-attack because I forgot to check in with her for two weeks. Boy was she mad when my dumb ass finally remembered to give her a call. Right, I guess I need to find that box of tissues again.

Anyway, Venba, short and sweet. Steam's got it on sale now, GOG will probably next.https://www.gog.com/en/game/venba https://store.steampowered.com/app/1491670/Venba/

Memories of mom's being pissed off. When I was 18, I traveled, solo, through parts of Europe and North Africa. I was sending home a postcard every two weeks so my parents wouldn't worry. I was gone just over 3 months. One postcard arrived while I was gone, with the remainder arriving long after I returned (including the one saying I would be home in a week).

Yeah, that'll get 'em good and worried too. :D
