Did not expect a William S. drop! When I was in 7th grade and recently enamored with David Lynch and Terry Gilliam, I came across Cronenberg's Naked Lunch at a video store, thought it looked amazingly bizarre, and picked up the book, with no clue that Burroughs was gay, and boy howdy, was my naive little brain thoroughly fried; wouldn't actually finish it until high school, but that original jolt of shock treatment was the catalyst for preventing any incipient homophobia to take root, so bless that heroin-fueled catalog of deranged perversity. Also, as a fellow midwesterner, I really appreciate Patrick's accounts of binge drinking and superior malt liquor brands, and hope he will continue to regale us at length.

I once discovered a 40 of Nighthawk Premium Malt Liquor in a rural gas station. They only had one, but the slogan was "Rule the Night" so I had to get it. I can't recall if it was any good.
