Alex is wrong on the view of the Revolution in France imo. The bicentenaire celebrations in 1989 were dominated by François Furet whose historical originality was a rejection of the Revolution by claiming it was a forerunner of totalitarianism. While this view is less prominent today, Furet still has a lot of credence esp in the «intellectual» class, although I would think that among the population at large the Revolution is still mainly seen as something to be proud of. There's also a growing American-influenced critical decolonial view of the Revolution but this has much less prominence than in the US. And ofc as Phil and George say there's the perennial debates over until which year or figure the Revolution was «good».

I love how not even three guys who produced hundreds of episodes together can agree on lockdowns. Which, make no mistake, is a feature, not a bug in this case.
