Hello everyone!

So couple of things: first is kind of bad news, but not totally bad?

Usually I'm not very anal about the reposts of my work and all that stuff as long as people give me a proper credit/shoutout and also if the piece they repost have already been made publically available by me on my own social media. I also knew for a while that there are some people who leak my patreon work to different sites made specifically for these purposes (the scheme basically goes like this: one person subs to my patreon > posts a link to that site > site creates a clone of my patreon page and everyone can see what i'd posted here up to the point when that person subbed). Though i don't encourage it obviously, it didn't really bother me that much, because i'm well aware that people who are determined to steal something will do it one way or another.

But now I've seen some instances of people who are not subscribed to my patreon go to those sites, get what they want from my page including those pieces that i never posted anywhere else and would like to keep exclusive to my patreon, and then they repost it to reddit, paheal and god knows what else and happily tell everyone about the way they did it.

First of all, f*ck those guys. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)╭∩╮

Second, looks like now i need to adapt and change the way i share my work with you. I always straight up posted my pieces here, because i like the simplicity of it and the fact that people who actually pay me money don't need to click any links or download anything and would just simply get it in their mail. But oh well!

So what do you guys think? Should I keep it as is or should I change something?
I'll probably keep posting wips and sketches here anyway, but i dunno what to do about the finished pieces. Would you like to receive those in you DMs or do you maybe want to join a discord server for that? I've seen some people do it, but I'm not sure how convenient it is.

And last but not least: i remind you that this is the last month for my $20 tier! I will not be doing any work for it starting next month, so if you'd like to check my work there this is your last chance. And if you're already on it, please, do not forget to unsub or lower your tier during July or you'll be charged $20 in August, because I can not delete a tier while there are people subbed to it. Hope it all makes sense!

That's all for now. Stay safe and hydrated during this godawful heat everyone!

Something's gotta change to protect your work

Well that sounds like a good idea sending your finished art works privately to your subscribers by messages

Okay I'll make a note of that last one.

Sadly it's the internet. As long as it's posted online, people will grab it and do what they want with it. The best way for the artist to get at least recognition and "own" the artwork is to include a signature and/or a HTML link to their site or Patreon. I see pretty much anyone that's popular and good that has a Patreon, their stuff is leaked on rule 34. Personally think you should keep the way you display it to your viewers, it seems like it's an easy way for you to update.

Yeah private messages or a discord server seem like good options

I agree. No matter what, people will find a way to post things. It’s just how the internet is unfortunately. I also think this is the simplest way to continue, just to keep it as it is.

Pm or discord are good I’m not sure tho if the same tactics of subbing and sharing can be done via discord however. I’ll also need to make sure I save stuff before changing my sub lol

Kind of really hate links that expire because it adds to the end of month pressure and makes subscribing feel like homework. Discord’s also making a habit of losing their mind every few months so I would be wary of that. Given their behaviour, they may well pull a Tumblr as they meander towards an IPO. Also, any sorting or tagging flies out the window, leaving people to endlessly scroll through search results that _will_ miss things. Some creators get around that by giving out a link to a Mega archive that has everything. And all of that still doesn’t solve the problem. I would recommend what Ultamisia proposes. Being able to easily trace an artist back to their source aids in discovery and, hopefully, lends itself to more people subscribing. To find you, I actively searched for Power Girl (as I do), found a repost, did a reverse image search, found nothing, forgot about it, weeks passed, actively searched again for Power Girl, rediscovered you again (I think it was on VK?), found a gallery, found a name, found a Tumblr, then, eventually, here. That said, it is your Patreon, you do what you like.
