Friday Night Beach Chat #6 (Patreon)

Welcome back to Paradise. All's well and proceeding well here on the island.

Had a minor setback this week; realized after having rendered half a dozen images that my new character model had a problem. For whatever reason she had a large blue stain around her mouth like she'd been involved in a blueberry pie eating contest.

Having never encountered this before in Daz3d it was a real head-scratcher. When I started investigating I thought maybe a light or reflection was causing it. But I couldn't see anything that would do that. I was about to replace the character model and move on. This would have been a shame because I really like this model. After a bunch of googling and trying different possible fixes I finally found one that helped. Adjusting the translucency weight on the skin of the model made the effect nearly go away. Good enough for me!

Now of course I had to go back through all the scenes and make the adjustments to the character and then render the scenes again. I'm still a beginner in Daz so I don't really understand this particular figure has this problem but I will have to be on the lookout when using figures from this creator.

Aside from the minor rendering setback, this week was mostly writing and play testing the front end of the update. While testing I identified a bug I was unaware of in the Android version of the game. The phone messages were not visible. The background would show up but no text. Whoops! Tracked down the problem and fixed it.

Also did a small amount of work on the nightclub set, there is going to be some serious technical hurdles to pull off the nightclub scenes. I want it packed with people, Daz doesn't do so well with lots of figures. So it's going to be lots of rendering in layers and stitching it all together in photoshop.

It's nothing I haven't done before, but it is a lot of work. At the start of Chapter 1 there was one such image.

This week's poll on whether or not the MC should get a haircut seems to be going in favor of a haircut. I've been trying to figure out how best to find the new style and I think I've got it. Coming this Tuesday with be a rare event....double Poll Tuesday! That's right there will be two polls, each one will have 4 hair choices. The winner of the polls will face off the following Tuesday to determine the new hairstyle our MC will be sporting.

The change won't happen until Chapter 3; I have a few ideas on how to get it done but not sure exactly which one I will be going with.
