Paradise Geography:

The island of Paradise is an independent nation located 1,226.6 miles (1,974km) Northwest of the Hawaiian islands. The island is roughly 49.7 miles (80km) long and 24.9 miles (40km) wide.

Paradise is surrounded by several smaller islands and islets most of which are privately owned. Notable islands include The Twins which is open to the public and Glowing Beach which is available to be booked by hour for visits. Summer Island is also available for party bookings.

The island's terrain is rugged and mostly covered in thick jungle. As you move further inland the terrain becomes covered with small hills and valleys and leading up into large hills with large plateaus. Elevation at the center is approximately 600 feet above sea level.

The waters around Paradise are significantly more shallow on the eastern and south eastern side of the island which is also where all the best beaches are located. The average depth is 23 feet; gradually sloping from the beach to large flat plateaus before gradually sloping again to reach a depth of 45 feet at the edge of the shallows before steeply dropping into abyssal waters beyond to a depth of around 10,000feet.

The western side of the island by contrast has very little quality beaches with much deeper waters. The shoreline is often rocky with more steep cliffs down to the ocean. The waters around the shallow water around the eastern coast has an average depth of 40 feet and slopes much sharper until the shallows end in steep near-vertical underwater cliffs that drop to around 15,000 feet. While not an ideal coastline for tropical tourism it serves the city well for it's deep port; allowing large, heavily loaded cargo and container ships to dock and unload the goods that keep the island running.

The City:The City located on the western coast of the island is home to 750,000 people which makes up 99.8% of the island's permanent population.

Whispering Palms:An upper middle class community which is essentially a suburb of the City. It has a population of around 350 people. For those who wanted a more spacious living area than what the city could provide.

Coral Vista:A family resort town. It has a population of 180 people. Originally created in the late 80's by a Christian group looking to steer the island away from sin. It was a miserable failure of course due to the island's reputation. Not many Christians or families were willing to choose Paradise as their vacation destination.

However in recent years the family friendly resorts and villas have seen quite an uptick of visitors thanks to new investments and timeshares being built. It is seen as a great choice for budget conscious visitors who might not be able to afford the exorbitant prices found in The Village. Once the sun goes down and the children are tucked away in bed however, the adults tend to sneak away to party the night away in The Village. Creating a cottage industry of City residents providing transportation to the Village which is roughly 37 miles(60km) away.

South Point:A small farming community with a population of around 300 people. They farm commodities like coffee, macadamia nuts, pineapples, various tropical fruits and sugarcane. There is also significant cattle and chicken farming.

The Hills:While not truly a community and more of a collection of a couple dozen expensive mansions where the island's richest choose to live. Initially this location was just one single mansion built by an eccentric millionaire Denton Arlo in the early 80's. He was obsessed with the concept of looking down on people from his ivory tower; in this case a large hill.

When Denton was found dead of natural causes in 1997, the mansion was purchased by a developer at auction and would go on to develop the area building an additional 6 mansions from 1997 to 2000. In 2005 a couple more developers purchased land in the area and extended the “community” by an additional 15 mansions with an additional 4 more planned for the future.

The Hills have become a favorite place for celebrities who like the privacy aspect of the area.

Surf Town:This small community was created in early 70's by a bunch of hippies came to the island. They created a haphazard beach town made of huts using local materials and living off the sea and jungle. Throughout the years it attracted the eyes of surfers on the island who moved in and as hippy culture waned they became the dominant group in the community.

The community never really had a name but in the late 90's someone coined the term Surf Town to describe it and it stuck. And by the mid 2000's it became the official name.

Today it has a population of around 120. A precise count is impossible due to the lax culture of the community where people come and go and many people who call it home prefer to stay off the grid and forgotten by authorities.

The best surfers on the island call this place home and area boasts incredible surfing waters as well as a couple protected coves that are perfect for beginners as well.

The Village:The most famous area on Paradise and it's greatest attraction. Filled with villas/hotels and resorts for tourists but there are a few houses on the perimeter that is home to around 100 permanent residents.

The Village has it's own police force that is specifically trained to deal with the challenges of policing such a place. For instance; public intoxication, nudity, public sex are not illegal in the Village. These things are expected to be encountered while visiting. These infractions will have you seeing the inside of a jail cell very quickly if done anywhere else on Paradise.

Often times the officers are mostly glorified babysitters to the hedonistic tourists.
