so in the korean alphabet there a few sort of "sets" of consonants that are related. so the 'D' sound, 'DD' sound and 'T' sound are like that (others are b,bb,and p and j,jj, and ch). the double consonant is somewhere between the D sound and the T sound so hanni asked if tang was spelled with the double D or the T. The easiest way to explain it is with the noodle dish jjajangmyun (which is everywhere in korean entertainment). the first jja syllable is pronounced with a more sever J sound than the second jang syllable
