I didn’t stay long after I had sucked off Adam in Bryce’s bedroom, and he had seen me swallow his load. I had another drink and chatted to a few other people, but then I slipped out so I didn't have to say goodbye to Bryce and his girlfriend.

I felt stupid. I shouldn’t have done that. I wanted to hook up with Adam so I could stop thinking about Bryce, even for a moment, and it worked. But now I felt even worse, I couldn’t believe Bryce had walked in on us…and at the moment Adam was cumming down my throat. And to make it worse, we were in his bedroom. I wondered if he was pissed at me, he didn’t really say anything to me when I came back out, and I snuck away so I didn't have to say goodbye.

I really hoped he wasn’t mad at me, even though I was struggling to accept that he now had a girlfriend and that it was likely we wouldn’t hook up any more; I at least still wanted his friendship. I loved hanging out with Bryce, and if I had to suppress my true feelings to stay in his life, I would.

The next day, I woke with a hangover and a pounding headache. I felt groggy and still embarrassed about the night before. I can’t believe I hooked up with Adam on the first night I met him at a house party. I felt like such a slut, not in a good way.

I got up and made a cup of coffee, hoping it would help me feel better. As I sat on the sofa, I thought about texting Bryce. Should I apologise? Or just pretend nothing happened? I could say thanks for a fun party and that it was nice to meet Sarah. That might work.

Suddenly, my phone buzzed, and I grabbed it, hoping it was Bryce. It wasn’t. It was a number I didn’t recognise. I opened it.

Hey, it’s Adam from last night. It was so good to meet you. I wondered if you’d like to get a drink sometime? x

I was disappointed it wasn’t Bryce, but it was nice to hear from Adam, and it would be fun to have a drink with him, maybe help me feel less slutty about sucking his cock at the party.

CHARLIE: Hey, nice to hear from you. It was fun to meet you, too. Sorry if I got too drunk! A drink would be great. When are you free?

ADAM: Great! Not to be too forward, but how about tonight?

He was keen. But I liked that. It was nice to feel wanted. And I had no plans tonight.

CHARLIE: Good for me 😊

ADAM: I'll find a spot and message you the details. Look forward to it x

CHARLIE: Me too x

I felt a bit better; I needed to stop stressing about Bryce and start focusing on myself. And dam, he was a nice guy, really handsome, and he had a good cock, as I had already discovered. I had the rest of the day free until our date later, but for the first time in a long time, I didn’t want to go to the gym… because I was worried I might see Bryce and his girlfriend. Normally, I went to the gym in the hope of seeing Bryce, or because we were meeting up. But after yesterday, I felt some space was a good idea.

I spent the rest of the day relaxing. I tidied my flat, watched some TV and read a bit. By the time my date with Adam came around, I was feeling really good and excited about how it might go. Maybe we really hit it off, and he could be someone I date. I actually felt nervous as I picked out something to wear, settling on a nice pair of dark trousers and a tight-fitting shirt that I felt showed off my body well.

Adam had messaged to meet at a bar that was not too far from my place, so I could walk there. He didn’t live too far from me, so it worked for both of us. I was determined not to get so drunk this time, to show him I am not always a drunken mess, and I planned not to hook up with him again….

I arrived at the bar and it was already busy, with lots of people out on a Saturday night. Adam was already there. He had a small table in the corner and stood up, smiling, when he saw me. I walked over to him.

“Hey,” I said.

“Hey,” he replied, “grab a seat”, and he gestured to the seat beside him.

I took off my coat and sat down. Even though I had sucked him off and swallowed his load the night before, I felt kind of awkward and a bit shy.

“I’m really glad you were up for meeting,” he said, still smiling as he looked at me.

“Thanks for messaging. The party was fun, but I kinda feel I was a bit of a drunken mess,” I said.

“Not at all! You were great. I mean, we both got a bit carried away, but I had a really good time,” he said.

I felt he was trying to reassure me, and it worked.

“Wanna get some drinks? This place does great cocktails if you’re up for it,” he said, handing me the menu.

“A cocktail sounds great,” I replied.

I think this was going to be a good night.

Several cocktails later, we were still in the bar. I wasn’t sure how long we had been there; the night was flowing easily with Adam. As I remembered from the party, he was so easy to talk to. He was fun and joked around, but he also asked thoughtful questions and really listened to you when you were talking.

Adam worked for a tech startup. He loved his job, but said it kept him very busy. He didn’t have much of a social life.

I was feeling buzzed. Many cocktails will do that to you, and I was having a good time, but I just couldn’t shake off this sinking feeling…

He wasn’t Bryce.

He was handsome and fun, had a good job, liked me, and was actually gay. He was everything I should want in a man, a boyfriend, a potential partner, but I just didn’t feel it. And I knew what was missing. He just wasn’t Bryce. I had such high hopes for tonight. I really thought it could go well and that I would finally be over my obsession with the unattainable straight man I have been in love with since I first saw him in the gym.

I felt so tragic, just another gay man in love with a straight man, when there is a perfectly good, very sexy, and available gay man right in front of me.

Adam was chatting happily, but my mind had started to wander. I felt bad, yet I knew deep down this wasn’t going to work, not while I was still in love with Bryce.

“You ok?” he asked, noticing the shift in my mood, even though I was trying to hide it.

“Yeah, sorry, all good. I think I am starting to flag a bit after last night’s late night,” I lied.

“I get it. Do you want another one or call it a night?” he asked.

“I think I might head home,” I said, hoping he wouldn’t be too disappointed.

“OK, I’ll at least walk you out. Let me grab the bill,” he said, and he got up and headed to the bar.

This man was so nice. What was I doing? I should have stayed, I should have focused on him, but my head was still a mess, and I just wanted to go home.

Adam returned.

“I’m sorry, just flagging that I won’t be great company anymore. I think it's bedtime for me. Let me pay for my drinks,” I said, taking out my card.

“Don’t be silly! I had a really good time, and I get it. We partied a lot this weekend,” he said, laughing. “And I paid the bill.”

“What? No, please let me chip in,” I said.

“Nope! These are on me; you can get the drinks next time,” he said.

I got up, and we walked outside.

“Want me to walk you home?” he asked.

I knew where that might lead, and I didn’t want it tonight.

“No, all good. Thanks for this. I had a really good time,” I said, meaning it.

“I did too, Charlie. I hope we get to meet up again,” he replied.

He leaned in and kissed me softly on the lips. It lingered for a second, then I pulled away.

“Night,” I said, turning and walking away.

I didn’t look back, just walked down the street, heading home. I felt so annoyed with myself, with Bryce. Why had I let myself fall for him so hard? And why hadn’t he messaged me at all since the party? Now that I was out in the fresh air, it hit me how drunk I’d been. But I didn’t care. I was mad. Bryce and I weren’t together, so I hadn’t done anything wrong.

It was very late, but I took out my phone and, before I could think about it, called Bryce. It rang a few times, then I heard his voice.

BRYCE: Charlie?

CHARLIE: Are you mad at me?

BRYCE: What? No, why would I be? Are you ok?

CHARLIE: ‘Cause you shouldn’t be, but I haven't heard from you.

BRYCE: Charlie, it’s late. Where are you? Are you drunk?

CHARLIE: A little. Maybe. I was with Adam.

BRYCE: Did something happen? Are you ok?

He was sounding worried now, shot, why I had called him. This was stupid.

CHARLIE: No. It's fine, he was a perfect Gentleman, I just…

BRYCE: Come to mine.

CHARLIE: What, no, I…

BRYCE: Charlie, I’m worried about you. Come to my place, or tell me where you are, and I’ll come get you.

CHARLIE: I’m not far from yours.

BRYCE: Good, come over now, ok?

CHARLIE: Ok.

I hung up and headed to Bryces.

I should just go home. I shouldn’t have called him. But as I headed to Bryce’s place, I felt happy for the first time since I had seen him at the party.
