May Patreon Update (Patreon)

Welcome to another monthly update. May was a rough month for me, I was sick for almost a week shortly after the month began. And I am currently sick again, having spent the last two days mostly in bed so this might be a bit shorter update.

Unfortunately I didn't get the DC character reading order updates finished but should have no trouble finishing them this month, progress can be seem here: Updates. One thing I've noticed going through all the DC character reading orders is that many of them were incomplete compared to their Marvel counterparts. Several of the DC characters are missing large chunks of their history (in some cases decades). With these updates I've just been adding issues post-New 52 but I plan to go back and fill out some of the reading orders with issues from the past when I am finished.

I'm also currently working on an Invincible Universe Reading Order, as well as a Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier reading order that someone requested. Both of these will be up sometime in June. After that there are a few non-DC and Marvel Universes I'm going to look into doing reading orders for. A reminder that if you have any requests for reading orders, whether Marvel/DC or other to either leave a comment or use the Contact form on the website.

Speaking of the Contact page, after I'm finished with the DC character reading orders I also plan to catch up with all the reading order errors, fixes, and suggestions that people have been sending in. I've been answering questions as best as I can as they come in but fixes I have been letting build up as I have been working on other things. Currently there are over 400 messages in that category so I am eager to dig into those.

As to the new reading order I have mentioned in the last couple of updates I am finished with its preliminary version and it will get a separate post in a few days when I am feeling better. The image in the header may be a hint as to its content.

Hey love your work tried tackling the DC reading order multiple times. Going through it now. Up to The New Frontier #1. I do have a question regarding your master DC order. I understand Pre-Crisis is messy but how do you decide which issues are included? Like for example some of Batman villains first encounters were pre-crisis but don’t seem to be included as well as Teen titans starting with New Teen titans but not including the series before it and first appearance of Green Arrow etc. It might just be me not understanding pre-crisis well enough but I’d love to know

The Pre-Crisis section (Part 1) of the DC Reading Order is probably the one section of all the reading orders that I am least happy with. Expanding it in general and specifically including more first appearances is one of my primary goals after finishing updating the DC Character reading orders.

In this update I mentioned that going over the DC Character Reading Orders I noticed many of them seem thin or incomplete. Superman was one of the characters I was thinking of. The majority of Byrne's Superman isn't there and then the 90's is basically just Death of Superman and its aftermath. After I finish the character updates this month my next major project is going to be expanding the DC reading orders to fill out areas that are relatively bare. For Superman this will mean including all of Byrne's run and filling out the 90's for a start.

Totally makes sense. I just started your part 2 and have been reading along with a buddy who is a little ahead of me and he was loosely complaining about missing some of that Superman run so I was trying to have your back.

Hello, this might be a weird question to place here, but i don't know how to otherwise contact you I want to upgrade to the premium membership, but Every time i try, i am still at the free member part, and no money is charged despite me pressing on the monthly pay option. Where in the chain does it not work: You press Upgrade, which should then take you to the Choose Your Membership page (where True Believer is the only option), then you press Upgrade again, which then takes you to the payment page where you choose to pay by either credit card or paypal.

At the top of the Payment details page, where you can select monthly or yearly, next to monthly on the right where you can edit the amount does it have a 7 in that space?
