About bying characters (Patreon)

Edit: I just wanted to add here, if you are the person who left this message, dont think I am calling you out. i actually get people wanting to buy characters with some regularity.I draw a lot of random characters. For a bit of perspective, in the year 2021 I drew 80 different characters, NOT counting fanart and commission work, accross 180 sketches and drawings. only around 1/10 of those characters got more than 1 image My sona is the only one to get more than 3 images that year. if you ever see a character that I have drawn, with very rare exception, There is almost nothing really special about them. I adressed this in a twitter thread talking about Taliyah. Taliyah is a character I have drawn a fair amount, I like her a lot, her patterning and colors were litterally pulled off an actual dog I found in google images when i was drawing the character the first time. Almost all the characters I make are incredibly generic in the way they are designed, the furthest I will push most of them is like "oooh, what if I give this one bright blue paw pads?" or "what if this fur patch was in a recognizable shape instead of just a normal looking splotch."the reason I bring all this up is because I dont really feel comfortable selling any of these characters. I didnt design them to be sold, in fact I barely designed them at all. If you want a character that is a black dog with a skeleton painted on it, just make one. Its not a unique idea, I have seen loads of characters that are dark colored with skeletons on them. even the fact that its paint, that was an idea I stole from Funkybun, who had a rabbit who was painted for halloween (i think it was a rabbit, i am not gonna go back and look it up.)If you see some random one off character that I have made and you really love them, just make your own character that is like that. I dont feel comfortable selling a character whos genesis was "I looked up a labrador on google images" or "I just did a similar idea to an artist I think makes awesome stuff." part of what makes a character yours is the personality you imbue into them, and you dont need me creating a generic vessel for you to pour that into, you can just make your own for way less than I would ever charge.and at the end of the day, if you do end up making a character that is similar to one that I have drawn before and you want to do something for me, you can always just throw whatever you want at my Ko-Fi, although if you are reading this you are already subscribbed to me on pateon anyway.
