I really liked this chapter, it had such a diversity of character responses to stuff. Gell's reaction to Red Thorn was really interesting and says a lot about her, it's interesting how she's starting to develop a more nuanced attention to how Amy and Iron are treating NPCs, and Dull Beauty and Bellcandy are shaping up to be interesting characters. I look forward to seeing what more you do with them. Thoughts this chapter inspired: Also, whoa, did Gell just alter an NPC? Is that what her Fae Touch ability is? It makes me start wondering if she was originally some intern's (thought to be failed) attempt at an NPC who could learn from adventurer behaviors and not only adapt to them, but also teach her fellow mobs how to better respond to them. Maybe the reason she couldn't originally alter Bugbear is that she wanted stuff from them that was completely outside of their ability to deliver? Like she couldn't get them to talk because talking isn't a thing they could do, but fighting the other bugbears for her was within its capability?

Hey Materia-Blade! So, I'm noticing everything through chapter 37 is available in that link. Is it meant to be?

Materia-blade

It is indeed. Haven’t posted the update yet because Auracite didn’t get the same number of chapters. Will update everyone tomorrow though.

Interested to see if Red Thorn eventually sees reason. On the one hand, I hope she does. On the other hand, unfortunately it's realistic to believe that many people react to situations emotionally, selfishly, and without making an effort to think through all perspectives. "It's also a possibility that this AI is innocent and deserves to be treated well, like any other person" is a thought which, so far, seems simply not to have crossed her mind. I'm hoping for an epic, long-running contest between them before they, the two nemeses, eventually understand, forgive, and (recognizing in each other their own fear and hauntedness) achieve friendship. That, or perhaps Thorn eventually realizing that she has somehow 'lost everything' and become alone. Long-term! But who knows?
