Each button design needs a "clicker" (more accurately called a keyswitch) to work. Any keyswitch advertised as MX compatible will work in my designs.

ℹ️ KEYSWITCH TYPES

• Clicky — sharp "pop" push feel, highly audible click (most popular for fidgets)• Tactile — push feel characterized by a noticeable bump, minimal noise • Linear — smooth push feel from start to finish, minimal noise

My top clicky recommendations (good availability and price):

• Kailh BOX White• Kailh BOX Pink• Kailh BOX Jade• Kailh BOX Navy

📦 WHERE TO BUY

The above Kailh brand keyswitches are widely available on Amazon and Aliexpress at reasonable pricing, usually around $0.30 to $0.35 USD per piece when buying around 100 at a time.

If you can meet high minimum order quantities in the thousands, you will find significant cost savings per piece with a direct order from the manufacturer, Kaihua Electronics.

🛠 BUTTON ASSEMBLY (video guide above)

Base

1. Find the "pins" on the bottom of your keyswitch. There can be up to 5 of these pins.2. Line these pins up with the alignment holes on your printed base. Push down.

Keycap

1. Find the printed keycap's cross-shaped hole and the keyswitch's cross-shaped stem.2. Line up the cross-shaped parts and push the keycap down firmly.3. If orientation is not obvious, the notch* on the keycap faces the keyswitch front.

*UPDATE: On newer designs' keycaps, the double notch indicates "front"

If you find it too hard to press the printed keycaps down onto the keyswitch, lower your filament flow ratio. Likewise, if the fit is too loose, increase the flow ratio (or use glue).
