The intro is finally finished. I was considering adding a couple more pages for pacing out some of the dialogue, but I can add them later and restructure things a bit if I feel like it's necessary. There will be a few more pages of dialogue to transition into the next scene before things start to get interesting (currently planned around page 10-11). These earlier pages take the longest because it takes a while to fully draw her outfit with all of the details and make sure they geometry is accurate, as well as needing / wanting to post these intro pages together so the dialogue progression is complete.Once the pages are more focused on the visuals and less on the dialogue, it'll be easy to post them one at a time as I finish them. This project is quite extensive, especially for one person. I appreciate people's patience for waiting on these, and I hope you enjoy and find this premise compellingI'll focus on some other posts for a bit while I work on the sketches and planning for the next set of pages on the side.

Wow, this is stunning! You did a fantastic job on the backgrounds.

Necromalock

Thank you very much. Can you guess the location?

D.j. Arnold

On the top panel of page 7 just under Blake’s hand was that a sound or an animation flub?

AnimeGeek97

Ahh you’re testing my knowledge I admit it’s been a while since I’ve rewatch the series. Is it somewhere in the ever after?

AnimeGeek97

Or maybe menagerie? Those are my two guesses. Guess it’s time to rewatch the series and brush up on my knowledge.

Makotoes

Dude this art is fantastic!

Necromalock

I was considering setting it on Menagerie and still torn about whether I should've or not. The next few pages will detail where she is.

Necromalock

If you're referring to the "scff" sound effect, it's her footsteps.

GazingShadows

Necro, you absolutely knocked it out of the park! Crazy to see this comic come to fruition, and I'm excited for what you bring to this comic and with Blake(best girl) Also, can we talk about how you drew the environments? They feel like backgrounds we'd see in the series! And of course, how you draw Blake, she looks like the actual model itself!

Necromalock

Thank you very much. I took extra care and effort with these ones.

AnimeGeek97

Guess I was close then. I can’t wait to see more. Keep up the great work, man.

Cumshot

Holy shit the talent man 😭

Crest

Bro this looks absolutely fantastic. Your talent is on full display here!

Xaq

This looks amazing!

Tufted-Tail

Brooo did you really render that background yourself? Or did you reuse some backgrounds from the show? Looking forward to the rest of this comic!

Rubio 2099

Excellent start! You killed it with the environment and the feel of Blake in it.

Necromalock

Thank you very much. It took a lot of prep and planning but it feels good to finally have the premise and setting established. The backgrounds were made through a combination of things, they are 2D images of 3D renderings that have been adjusted and edited in Photoshop with some editing tools, and other parts I draw over in Paint Tool Sai to clean up the composition. Usually small details like changing some leaves or foliage, or painting over the sky to change the lighting and clouds, etc. Sometimes assets are taken from other images and edited in, if I need to add or remove something bigger like a tree. This is the most effective way I could convincingly create backgrounds that match the style of the series, which is the bottom-line objective. It's essential that the backgrounds look fully believable. For Blake in her Atlas outfit, I've thoroughly and completely painted over her model to adjust her colour pallet to fit the setting, then individually drawn each single line to bring her model up to high resolution and fidelity, and fix clipping or shading flaws that were on the base model. (This process takes hours per panel because of the resolution I work in.) I've recreated her eyes just for this project so they are more accurate to her model, and I can adjust them as needed to change her facial expression. The rest of her facial features (mouth, eyes, eye shadow, eyelids, eyebrows, facial blush) are individually redone on separate layers so her expression can be completely adjusted if necessary, but sometimes the base expression doesn't require much altering so I only change some minor things. Once the base cell-shaded colour pallet is completely rendered, I apply subtle gradient and glow effects on her body to tie her in with the lighting of the setting. Normally I completely draw the character's body or outfit from scratch, but doing a direct paint-over is the only way to make it look like her actual 3D model. Even doing a very accurate fresh drawing with using reference will have minor inaccuracies that will give the illusion away, and best case scenario, it may be convincingly accurate but will take an excessive amount of extra time per panel. I'll be completely drawing her outfit from the ground up in the upcoming pages once the scenes start to progress beyond the sources of her base model.

Necromalock

Thank you very much, I'm glad you like it so far.

Necromalock

Thank you very much. The backgrounds were done with a combination of the two; they are 2D images of 3D renderings that I've edited where necessary. I've posted a lengthy reply about the process to another comment that I'll add to the description of the post.

Necromalock

Thank you very much. It's a bit of a slow-burn with the pacing for the intro, but it's essential for immersion and will pay off as the comic continues. The project is planned to have around 40 pages (at the moment, likely more as I decide to add stuff), so a proper intro felt necessary.

nigeypoo

This looks incredible so far! Can"t wait to see where this goes!

iBurnScarlet

Absolutely love the story angle you are using. Keep going.

Rucker

Years ago, even after Montys death. I think you woulda been a wonderful addition at Rooster Teeth before there sad demise.

Unasinous

My anticipation cannot be understated

Necromalock

Thanks, I'm glad you like it so far. I tried to tie it into the canon plot as seamlessly as possible. There will be some nice details revealed in the upcoming pages to establish more of the premise to make it air-tight.

Necromalock

Thank you very much, that's nice of you to say. Assisting with the Grimm plot points would've been my area of choice. Maybe in another timeline where my art isn't so degenerate. That being said, I'm working on a Grimm-focused story that I might turn into a comic later on if I think the concepts are strong enough.

Rucker

Slide 4 & 5 shows me you got what it takes to take it to a whole new level with or without the grimm department. but I still will always support your work degenerate or not.

Kam Kam

I always wondered how you managed to make your art look so show accurate, it really pays off😆❤️
