Just to be upfront, I am Yibo's fan. lol. If you can remember in episode 5, Yibo promised Yang Yuting (the female in group A) to be the only female/girl in his team. I think he already has a planned set of dancers in mind. He wanted to retain the dancers who are strong at dance battles for the future of the team. I remember someone commenting that a general needs to decide what battles to sacrifice or pieces to give-up, in order to win the war. Yibo is known to be quite cold, as compared to other captains, but he does care a lot. I remember he provided these his team very pricey set of clothes. The shoes were limited, only 50 pairs were allocated for China, and his team, each got a pair of their own. (He is the brand endorser of that shoe brand, I believe. lol) He also gave his team a lot of opportunities after SDC3, even Taotao and Cici advertised Swarovski (https://m.weibo.cn/status/4541530142674243#&video). It comes with the perks of your team captain having more than 40+ endorsements (in 2021), and he still is the Chinese actor with the highest number of endorsements up to this day with around 30-32. Another thing to note, SDC 3 was shot during the pandemic. They have to house the whole contestants, crew and captains. You can only leave if you are eliminated. This is also mentally and physically exhausting to those involved. That is why Taotao is quite relieved that Cici's journey has to end. Objectively speaking though, Yibo's plan to put all strong players in one team backfired on him.
