Tony Swagman

I’m beyond ready for this peach pit

ILoveLemons

Is the season coming to a close? I've been waiting for it to accumulate and js wanted to know how close it is to ending

zo perry

9am peach pit??? ahhhh yay

Jay the Crab Man

I’ve heard it was supposed to be about a year, but I think they’re taking longer than they originally intended… not that I’m complaining 😂

DrPattar

Love the smell of a peach pit in the morning

Galaxy Croissant

They have one more key and one more monster. It'll probably be done before summer is

ILoveLemons

I dont know what that means and I want to know tbh. Thanks for the info tho!

Mary Emma G.

Rewatch my life? Abso-fucking-lutely NOT. just let me go into the voidddd

Lukeoftheirish

On the topic of people ruining movies, my dad and grandparents had Star Wars V ruined. Someone drove by while they were standing in line and spoiled Darth Vader/ Luke Skywalker for them

Lidija Vasilyev

Man I haven’t seen ultraviolet in forever

Erika Auglis

Dear, Will. My 5 year old son is autistic and his comfort movie is the first half of The Emperor’s New Groove. So hopefully it shall fill you will glee that he lets out genuine “BOOYAH”’s everyday. Also “*gasp* My spinach puffs!!”.

Nathan Sharpe

The spartan inprovisers: "Spartans, I need an occupation!"

Bearonavirus

What is the deal with Matt bringing up Rocky Horror Picture Show with minecraft movie? I have no idea on the context

Nash Parsons

Will nothing has made me go "YES!" more than when I heard you reference Marty Robbins Gun Fighter ballads. That album made my Oklahoma refugee self appreciate the old West and country music. What is your favorite from that album, I love Water and Big Iron

Kingsley

The lost boys!

Jazmin Helzer

Lmao this is such a niche take that instantly aged horribly. Will saying he’s a Depardieu-head hours before Depardieu is found guilty of sexual assault 😭

Sean Boyle

Shocked and upset nobody mentioned From Dusk til Dawn as their favorite Vampire movie. Grade A movie.

ADoubleEgg

Matt, Outer Wilds is a great story game that you might enjoy

FusRohNahSon

The minecraft movie reaction is just szcheaun sauce

FusRohNahSon

If yt people gotta tell me how they feel about Sinners ya gotta give it a +1 no matter how u feel

Natalie Rose

Currently at the East ASU campus (just graduated yesterday actually!) and can confirm the Xtreme Bean Coffee Shop no longer has a location out here... There IS one on Tempe, but it’s no longer open 24 hours. An angel has lost its wings Edit: FREDDIE LOOKED IT UP IN THE EPISODE FUCK GJDHFJGJFH Ok Freddie but you missed that it’s not on the east campus anymore! I still win

Natalie Rose

Also. The scream I scrumpt when I realized that Beth was talking about the campus i spent the past four years of my life on. I do not have like any school pride outside of now being able to say I went to the same college as some of the cast of the podcast I seem to have accidentally sold my soul to

Eddy B

Haven’t heard it yet but I’m liking it already as the episode was just so good.

JustAnotherRQ

Gotta disagree with Matt on the cheering thing. There is an appropriate amount of cheering in a movie. You can cheer without ruining another viewers experience by drowning out the audio

Eli Bergman

i also dont know too much about it but im aware that there are like late night rowdy screenings for rocky horror that are a continuing organized thing vs minecraft being rowdy because teens are acting up

Arthur Williams

"Just like Lightning McQueen in Cars 3!" Will Campos is so Cars pilled

Jared Hadley

I'm not going to lie I saw the picture posted of the scarecrow before listening to the episode and it threw me through a loop like how do we go from needing to be healed to toilet scarecrow and I was not disappointed in any way shape or form 🤣❤️🤣

eatmygerms

i love "rad" and use it any chance i get

Wizardpower700

My brain broke a bit when I thought about task master five seconds before it got mentioned.

GoblinGuy

When it comes to younger people and movies, we also need to remember how Covid affected kids. Alot of people were never taught how to exist in movie theatres because of lock downs around the world. There’s ALSO a huge “American” part of it, as the issue with movie behaviour is largely American and not as common outside.

GoblinGuy

I’m genuinely so glad Will brought up Covid- the classification of this behaviour as “rebellion” or kids trying to act out really overlooks that a lot of kids *don’t see this as acting out*. They aren’t TRYING to be all counter-culture, it’s the complete lack of understanding. Theatres are seen more as a place you GO to experience things like people throwing popcorn instead of a place you go to watch movies- that’s for at home streaming. If you want to settle down and watch a movie, you use your own television. If you want to experience other people, you go out.

Arkole Blake

As long as Will doesn’t pull an Anthony and give everyone quest to break individual anchors before the keys will work. :p

W0rthle$$

My season 4 prediction. 1. Will as wizard 2. Matt as fighter 3. Beth as Beth 4. Freddie as monk

The Brothers LEE

38:10. Um excuse me. Theres a little game called BORDERLANDS 2

Queer!Content

Just checking in. Daybreakers was filmed here in Brisbane, Australia, and many of the tunnels they run through is actually just the one subway tunnel beneath Central Station. As a local it's hard to take Daybreakers seriously knowing they're just running up and down this one tunnel... 😆

Maya

Love Beth mentioning My Best Friend is a Vampire! It's a delightfully weird little movie and heavily queer coded. Hasn't aged super well but I love it.

Addie Durrett

Love that I’m listening to a discussion about teenagers going to movies. But for real, I did appreciate that Will brought up Covid. It is a really interesting interpretation that this “rebellion” is kind of a way to get our childhood back. The time for us to be rebellious and be disruptive was taken away. I do think for the majority of us, we don’t realize just how much of an impact Covid had on us as individuals. It’s hard enough to look inward and say “Oh, I’m this way because of this” regardless, so to reflect on how a literal pandemic affected us as individuals is just insane to think about.

Phorsi

My favorite is also Let the Right One In but the Swedish version

GhostBrod

It’s funny how Anthony finds these boring because more often then not I’ll relisten to a Talking over an actual episode

Taryn

This is totally true. We think kids should just “know” things, but they need to be explicitly taught things. We don’t realize how much we see as normal was explicitly taught to us. Which is why I think Beth’s comment about the influencer taking a picture of the title screen is legitimate. And I think she was right to call that influencer in on it. I hate that said influencer’s fans continue to feel like they need to send death threats. Influencers influencer, so kids are also getting their teaching from them (meaning that person, who I agree is disingenuous, could have maybe taken this as an opportunity to teach…). I’m sorry. Thoughts are humbled but I think you make a good point and I wanted to add onto it.

Taryn

And also your point about it being largely American makes sense to me in the same vein because our culture is very “pull yourself up by the bootstraps” even about learning cultural and social norms. As a teacher, I see this all the time. Like people saying “wow these 9th graders who lost formative years to COVID should just KNOW this.” And some of those people are parents. And that falls in line with what I see in the culture. While this is entirely anecdotal, I think your point stands.

Nitro

Still use "Booya!" To this day. I love Cyborg from Teen Titans back in the day.

Bret Schulte

People were trying to justify the antics at Minecraft as being similar to the antics at certain showings of RHPS (quoting, throwing things, etc.). But for RHPS those are promoted as events full of antics, not random people disrupting other people's movie watching experience.

Bret Schulte

I'll always remember My Best Friend Is A Vampire as the movie where I figured out subtext. At seven I was like, "wait, I think this movie is about being gay and/or AIDS."

BT Bishop

I still say tight, rad, dope and sick on a regular basis. There's so much cool old slang for police we should bring back. Rollers, rozzers, one-time, bluebottles, the fuzz.

Robert Meyers

As a younger person I understand your point of views but also see that there is a commonality to the statements made by the older generation during the 80s and 90s

Frank

By the way the minions thing was also a nightmare for theater workers

john hamelers

Does nobody remember the Eras Tour parties? The kids were dancing and singing and going nuts through the whole thing. It eas amazing.

petra

just wanted to pop on here and say for those who don’t follow Beth on insta, Travis Reaves (an editor of the show) has brain cancer and is 80% done towards their fundraising goal !!

petra

also my favourite vampire movie is obviously breaking dawn part 2, as nothing will beat watching that movie at 16 and being shell shocked by the twist

Freddy Chong

Can we hear what's happening with Freddie's boxing? I'd love to hear his progress and his stories so far

Perkuse

Daybreakers is a decent movie. Deffo worth watching imo. Suprised none of you even mentioned "Interview with the Vampire" with Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt

Emeryth

Anthony nailed the percentages of why I’m here. 😂

Peter Wheeler

The phenomenon they’re talking about doesn’t just revolve around movies, the grimace shake and other tik tok challenges are pretty good examples of it. People want to be short term famous now and it’s lead to some really cool and creative stuff like throwing popcorn and painting yourself purple

Xejicka

Matt saying that Skies of Arcadia is one of his favorite games has made me an even bigger fan of him. I have a similar sentiment and wish for more Skies.

k0nami_kid

I didn't want to speculate about a season 4 but now theyve talked about a season 4 YES!!!! FUCK YES!!!!!! SEASON 4!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope this silly goofy podcast lasts as long as the creators want to keep making it

Righter

I wish I could remember the specific essay, but David Sedaris has a great one about fastidiously going to the local iHOP in to write every night at like 3 am

Zachary Nguyen

Beth, thank you for bringing up one of MY favorite vampire movies Queen of the Damned. No one even reacted when you said it. My favorite band is Korn and I always loved the film for it's music since Johnathan Davis wrote all the original songs for the film and collabed with all my favorite artists for that film. You the GOAT for that shout. 🤘🙏

Alex

As far as movie behavior goes. I’m in favor of people cheering clapping and laughing. Especially for movies like Marvel movies cause those are made to have those moments happen. But if you’re just talking during the movie, being rowdy for no reason, looking at your phone, taking pictures, etc that is a HARD NO for me. Also, there’s no reason to throw your popcorn everywhere and make a mess for absolutely no reason. You’re just being a dick a making a mess. That’s only acceptable for the quote on quote “rowdy” screenings. I wholeheartedly agree with Beth on calling out that influencer taking pictures of the movie screen. STAY. OFF. YOUR. PHONE. IN. THE. THEATER.

Maddie Ann

What was the story based video game they recommended this episode? I think they said it was French?

ketchup kola

I wish they would have clarified what brand of cat food was used on the scarecrow.

Anna Deas

I laughed out loud on the bus at Matt’s alibi comment 😭

ScoopyOopyPoopy

Yall keep outing the best places they're gonna put my RhymeZone behind a paywall at this point

JusticeG

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Unicorn Hole

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (I'm pretty sure)

War-Cry

Poor Freddy with that quiet reception on his Group of Guys bit. I dropped my weights at the gym cracking up to that.

Kaden W

I have to share this somewher but road 96 is a fantastic game and it's criminally under-rated

Kyle Dawson

You’re all wrong, the best vampire movie is: Dracula: Dead and Loving It, starring Leslie Nielsen

Jimmy Place

I would love to hear you all do more discussions on current trends in cinema and the culture surrounding it. That as a podcast would be amazing, imo. Especially given the background you all have in the space.

dickaxe

Agree on that unspoken companionship and communities of places opened 24/7. That is how it felt at my university library. All of us procrastinators pulling all-nighters to get assignments done. Like Anthony said, we all did something wrong to be there and many of us were repeat offenders lol

LayinBrix

I just quit my 24 hour Denny's job and it was customers like this that made me not want to quit. But it's in Portland so much worse

CampFIRE Canada

Mention Matt Berry and Vampires, but didn't bring up What we do in the shadows? Also I really wonder what minecraft movie with Matt Berry would have been like haha

Bex Boster

Can I just say I love how a parent it is that like all the boys will argue and yell and scream over each other especially Matt and Freddy to try to get a point across, But the second the best start speaking they all just shut up and listen. Like the respect ❤️

Nowaey

For a game rec, Disco Elysium has a great atmosphere and is DnD coded in a unique way.

Arkole Blake

So Matt doesn’t think anyone saw a woman laying on her back before the internet? (McD arch)

Kaylin Creason

They did! Somewhere around 40! You’ll love it: they’re divided on whether the show or movie is better

bigbucketofbutts

I would so love to have a full on debate about the minecraft movie w them. I feel they are missing a BOAT LOAD of context and have the motivations completely wrong. There is a much stronger argument for a (can be argued misguided) desire for community celebration and connection over a shared love of something that people in this demographic are deeply missing, especially post covid. also, actually watching the movie would provide a lot of context at the target audience (of 20 somethings who played minecraft growing up) shoved into the package of a kids movie, not the other way around. not to mention these events arent happening at weekend matinees with children around. people doing this do not want to ruin a childs experience, let alone see a child irl. they are going to late night, weeknight screenings in search of other like-minded people who want to join in a similar celebration with them. Desparate for a community and social connection they have near completely lost with covid. I think the rocky horror is a more apt comparison than they gave it credit for. It is not really much of an act of revellion as much as an attempt at a community rallying around something. but 🤷‍♀️also whos listening to me lmao

Batsy Boi

I want American IKEA cafeteria... the UK one is always completely full, it's always a wait to even get a seat, let alone to get in line for food

MuteMouse

Man Matt has so much beef with critical role lollll I hear a comment every episode

Marissa Y.

"You don't need a war plan if your soldiers are rock stars" Adding this to my 'quotes from DnDads to cross stitch' list.

Risotto

I'm not a cinema/movie person and I'm genuinely wondering why it's upsetting/irresponsible to post a picture of the screen? Lovely if someone could explain!

Fido

ya phones supposed to be off sonny

Sheriff Teddy

DAY SHIFT- Jamie Fox vampire movie

Sheriff Teddy

Question : I recently discovered that my boyfriend’s cries during musicals - Wicked, The Greatest Showman. Can you suggest more musicals?

Kaiberly Cournoyer-Rowland

I’m late but loved Clair Obscur, but would not recommend this game for a non gamer because the combat is very activating sometimes

Kaiberly Cournoyer-Rowland

I may also be too old for this, but I think that social media is the biggest influence for people acting like bholes. Especially at the theater.

Kristen Case

For the record, Elyse Myers is not a “young person” she’s basically the same age as Beth. She was born in 93.

Broden Orr

This episode really makes me want the daddies to play disco elysium. I think everyone (Beth included) would love it, and have tons to riff on

Gab Masci

Word hippo shout-out hell yeah
