Check out DnD pinball machine! Voiced by the talented Matt Mercer

Tannictor

Hermie was created because Beth was messing with an anagram machine, had nothing to do with the joker, also came from the mambo #5 episode

liam morin

liam morin

Blake Perryman

I heard that “license to krill” joke, Beth, I thought it was funny

Dusti Nalley

Story time! I also found my book in a picture once xD I was scrolling facebook and someone was selling books on the marketplace and one of them was mine lol

Tony Loch

As someone with a claptrap tattoo, I feel a little humbled here

Nobi Wolff

Loving hearing Animorphs being loved by others just discovering it!

John Ring

I remember the "Proud Tree," that was crazy man

Emilyandsnails

Dude, in Sunday school, they showed us a one man play about Jesus’s crucifixion that was so wild it rounded the corner on drama and turned into “this is awkward, therefore comedy.”

Katherine Armstrong

The sharks remind me of those 2 robot henchmen from reboot. Who were they? Hack and slash?

Mika Aapakallio

i think id actually get violent if someone threw their dog poop in my kitchen trash💀

Harry Bozas

Leaving dog poop in a kitchen trash can, even more so when it's not your own trash can, is b a n a n a s, holy crap

John

Oooooh man. Beth says it's LA dog culture, but that's everywhere now. The cancer she's describing is normal everywhere. And I'm with Beth, boooo to bad dog owners

Tonka Turnk

Is it wrong that I feel like a fake fan? I've been listening to Dungeons and Daddies for years but have put it on the back burner for a while to binge Creepcast so I can enjoy this new experience all at once. It should also be mentioned that I have General Anxiety Disorder and recently diagnosed ADHD.

Marc Wasserman

S-foils=Strike Foils for anyone wondering

Cassie Muldrow

I am so jealous you met Mark Evan Jackson! I love him!!! He's so unbelievably funny! Have you heard Sparks Nevada, Marshal on Mars?

Arkole Blake

So who would use the neuralizer Last second thing to tell yourself to skip straight from season 1 to season 3? :p

Elepherim

We need at least 1 teensect book

Eva Vasileiadou

I think it’s inconsiderate, but not crazy to bring the dog with you to tour a house. The POOP BAG on the other hand!!! As a dog owner, I NEVER throw my dog’s poop bags in my OWN trash can. I couldn’t even FATHOM doing it to someone else.

GoblinGuy

I know it’s probably a joke with the conversation about fanfiction, it’s important to remember the media we consume effects us. No one is immune to propaganda, and consuming media non-critically (especially about unsafe/abusive topics) will normalize it towards yourself. Not saying reading a horror novel will turn you into a murderer, but there’s a reason true crime fans have such a rep.

GoblinGuy

Something being fictional doesn’t suddenly make it less harmful than something real. Fiction is one of the easiest ways to affect the way others think, what they think is okay, and how they process information. Be critical!

As a professional animal caregiver, LEASH YOUR DOGS 🐕

Maladapted

After the Revolution is my Robert Evans of "Behind the Bastards" podcast fame. This person listens to podcast and that might be how they found Beth's book.

Steve Dekrey

I’m a Lutheran Pastor and your youth ministry stories have me crying with laughter…..I promise I don’t do that stuff to the kids I work with

Delaynie Potts

We went from religious trauma to them finding fan fiction and Anthony's "oh no" nailed it

GhostBrod

Hate to be that guy but ,.. Anthony’s told this Castaway story differently before— in previous telling Anthony say the question was “what does Wilson represent” and the pastor said “I don’t know”— I remember this so distinctly because if I’m not wrong it’s even Will who makes almost the exact same comment “How could you not have an answer for Wilson— the first thing I would have asked about”. Anyways as a chronic re-listener , the way Anthony said “I don’t know” in that riff has been stuck In my head forever

Gwendolyn Hammer

If you have your dog off leash in public you are 0. A bad pet owner 1. A bad community member 2. A bad neighbor 3. A bad person

Beck Webster

Just gotta say it, but if I got mindwiped I’d love to reexperience this show for the first time. It got me into RPGs and playing with my friends and if I can’t remember it, I’d love to experience it all over again!

Cody Moriah

SCRAP AND WRECKAGE ENAMEL PIN AND/OR POSTCARD SET WHENNNN

Cody Moriah

Brb, ignoring my uni work so I can read the first Animorphs and make a Teensects parody version

Cody Moriah

hey friend! i also have ADHD (amongst other things.) as i see it, the idea of being a true fan or fake fan isn't really... real? that doesn't mean that fans won't be uppity and gatekeep entertainment, but don't let someone else's inferiority complex keep you from authentically engaging with and enjoying things you like. <3

Cody Moriah

Our precious horrible scam son boy <3

Oliver Fulayter

When I was a kid, I'd get dropped off from the bus after school, walk to the gas station about a mile+ away, and then wait for the bus driver to come by with the younger kids and I'd ask for a ride to my friend's house.

Jacob

Im 23, who’s amy mann?

I vividly remember watching the tree movie as a child! While it seems strange and humorous to us, imagining the crucifixion from the perspective of the tree is actually very consistent in Christian tradition. One of the earliest surviving poems in Old English is "The Dream of the Rood" (Rood meaning "rod" or "cross") where the speaker literally dreams of the tree telling the story of the crucifixion! I highly doubt the Tree movie people were aware of this, but it exists!

TheHegemonCaller

Fact that I remember exactly the story Will is talking about is so funny. But also its a TRIO of trees. The last tree is the one hes talking about. The other two are like: I will hold the greatest treasure (its cut down and made into the manager Jesus is held in), and the second one is like: Im gonna be the mast/part of a grand battle ship/a war ship. That trees cut down and made into a fishing boat that Jesus is in when he calms the storm. Lordy, that took me back

Pavel Arauz

You know, I couldn't get that hypothetical out of my head about what five things would you like to experience for the first time again. I started listing them, but then I realized "who's to say I'd feel the same way about it the second time around?" Like think about that album, song, food, or film you watched and really liked– what headspace were you in at the time? I love the human experience.

Tonka Turnk

Thank you for saying that, Cody. Dungeons and Daddies holds a special place in my heart and has for a long while now. (Time to over share) The day I found out I had to put my last dog down I took him to the park one last time and bought/listened to all of Sons and Sonsability. It really helped me to laugh and get myself out of my own head when I needed it the most.

Benjamin P Parson Gomberg

Ancillary Justice fucking slaps. Sci-fi or no, its quality is such that should get bumped up to the performative shelf for sure.

Ko-Wahi Kit

I’m so psyched for Will to read Animorphs! Long comment so TL:DR - Keep reading, but some books have lackluster quality so it’s ok to hit up Reddit for which to prioritize and which to skip. The story payoff is so, so worth it. I will warn you that a lot of the books after ~ #20 were ghost-written since Katherine and Grant had two monthly series to keep up with, complicated when they had their first kid (who they named Jake. :- D). Katherine actually started as a ghost writer herself, and while the quality of some of the books is hit or miss for the most part it works. Katherine and Grant wrote the outlines for the major plot beats, so I mostly noticed inconsistency with the character voices. :- / I read the entire series two years ago during a bad work crunch season and I had a blast. They’re short enough that you can burn through one in one or two sessions, but the character and humor is fun and they DO NOT pull punches with the gritty implications of a world where teenagers are pulled into guerrilla warfare. And somehow they manage to treat that with the respect and gravity it deserves while ALSO making a Gorilla Warfare pun. That being said if you find yourself suffering I recommend hitting up Reddit for reading order recs. It’s definitely valid to skip several of the books and focus on the ones that drive the plot, and goddamn the last few books hit HARD. The series has an ending that I haven’t stopped thinking about since I read it when I was like 11, and I don’t know maybe YA series that have managed to do something similar. I also recommend the very good podcast Morph Club. Carey Pietsch (artist for the Adventure Zone graphic novels) and Megan Brennan (also a badass comic artist!) do a great job talking through each book and the television series. They focus on the great and fascinating storytelling while also celebrating the….goofier…elements as well. Here’s hoping for an Animorphs discussion MBIC sometime in the future, I’d love to hear Will’s thoughts on it Cars-verse style!

Lexie Carr

At the risk of outing myself as a bad person, I do feel like it's okay to take your dog off leash if you're doing so responsibly and in specific circumstances. So for example, only in big open spaces far away from other people and traffic, only with a dog that is well-socialized and has good recall, always asking permission to take your dog off leash if someone is nearby, and of course always picking up poop right away. Would you agree that following the above behaviors is okay, or do you still think not? 100% I agree that dogs should be leashed in public as a default, but are there exceptions that are okay? I'm genuinely curious and open to feedback.

Gwendolyn Hammer

The circumstances you describe sound reasonable to me! I was thinking more about the dog owners that let their dog run up to mine at the local park, take a happy little thing into the thrift store, etc.

Lexie Carr

Oh good, I'm glad to hear that! I had literally just come back from a park with my dog where we were the only ones there and I let her off leash to play fetch, and I thought to myself, "uh oh, am I the asshole?". But yeah very much agree with you that owners shouldn't let their dogs run up to strange humans or dogs, because you never know what their comfort level is. Even if the owner thinks their dog is "just being friendly," it can be at best annoying, and at worst trauma triggering.

EVERYONE HIDE THE GLENN CLOSE SEXIEST PODCAST CHARACTER ALIVE FANART PROPAGANDA FROM FREDDIE

Corkboard Podcast Network

Episodes like this are why y’all keep getting my money every month. 👏🏼👏🏼

Rachel Luna

You played D&D with Amal El-Mohtar?!?

Maria M

The religion/sleepover talk brought back a real two-birds-with-one-stone of childhood sadness…not only did I grow up going to super boring religion classes every Friday evening, but that plus church on Sunday mornings meant that I was NEVER ALLOWED TO GO TO SLEEPOVERS. A straight up tragedy.

Adam Richards

I thought wreckage sounded like Bobcat Goldthwaite. You should have him do the voice in the animated series at least.

Emily Peterson

Will’s story about the tree reminds me of a Christmas program I was in as a kid, and I was the tree that got turned into the cross 😅 I wanted the role so bad (because it was the lead) and was so excited lol

Silent H

as a dog trainer who does not live in LA, I can tell you that dog culture is like that everywhere. Although, it does sound amplified in LA since everyone that lives there thinks they’re the main character or everyone’s life

Marlowe Holmes

Throwing dogshit in a strangers indoor trash is fucking insane.

shannon rosen

gummy ruts mention and i know EXACTLY the voice and moment will meant

Morgan D

I felt safe until Freddie went "get over here" "pants off" 😂

Lorelei and Kyra Newly Weds

My corgi wears a little vest with a handle, kind like a mini briefcase loaf. She doesn't need a leash as she stays within t feet at all times. She enjoys being picked up as well.

lovo

Lmao teen pastors are built different. I went to a overnight lock-in run by a youth pastor cause all my friends were doing it. Presented as we'd sing songs and play games all night. Well, the pastor had this entire bit where he convinced us there was a ghost in the basement classrooms, told us elaborate back stories and sightings, and then sent us in groups to walk through the hallway to find the ghost with only one flashlight at midnight. It was fucking intense and terrifying as a little kid - the lights flickered, weird groans and something banging on the walls. And then of course at the end it turns out to be orchestraed by him and his wife, preached it into some life lesson and metaphor about faith and Jesus at 1am while we were scared and delirious. Completely destroyed any trust and litle interest I had left in Christianity. To this day, I don't think my parents know about it lol.

This is a pen

wills zyborne clock reference left dead in a ditch

Rogzilla

All these stories about religious traumas as a kid reminds me of the time when I was in Sunday school and wrote Merry X-Mas and the teacher told me I was going to Hell for that. It was the first time I ever really saw my dad MAD. I didn’t find out about this until much later but the Priest found out about it, dismissed the teacher and apparently gave a sermon about not weaponizing religion. He retired shortly afterwards and the new priest SUCKED. We left the church shortly afterwards and my parents encouraged my brother and I to find our own faiths.

Kyler Campbell

Why is everyone on my favorite show becoming so clearly a bunch of ppl who were a few good parents away from understanding the point of things. The fact that he’s convinced himself that Christian’s going out of there way to care about others is weird is hilarious. Sounds like you just had parents that didn’t monitor your friends bud 😂

Julian Lobato

Well actually ☝️🤓 the first time we got the silly gruff voice from Anthony was in chapter 2 of 'At the Mountains of Dadness' when Freddie says hes got to catch a drink with his friend Jim Bean

Kaylin Creason

Blasphemy, fanfiction, and improv? Best post-show ever! I felt so safe in this space.

Bex Boster

Which story are you referencing specifically?

The one and only Auzzy

Bro I'd straight up drive it to that persons residence and light it on fire in front of their door step like a 1990s childhood villain

Ebon Shepherd

Lol, why is Anthony afraid to eat meat in international waters? Are you more likley to like eat a dude and not know it? 😅

Dalton

They had a lot of reasons that they *wouldn't* ever read fanfiction previously(didn't want to be affected by character ideas, made an analogy of it being like a teacher or authority figure was judging it, etc.) and they apparently forgot about them. The Darryl/Library story seemed pretty obviously nonconsensual in a a manner portrayed as the punchline of a joke.

Jessica Estep

I'm listening to this as I re rubber my Attack from Mars pin. Jesus lol. I'm guessing AiQ, Deadpool, or Kong for what was on the cruise

Jessica Estep

Of you go from not eating meat to suddenly trying it you end up in the bathroom ....for extended time.

Sydney Heim

Where is the link to the fan fiction??? Send now!!

wonderchicken125

just gonna say Scrap and Wreckage need to canonically be hammer head sharks

Hashtaggles

I’m 27 and my first sleep over was when I was like 5?

Squirt Whetstone

Im honestly genuinely shocked that on a cruise fully of nerds, NOBODY recognized Anthony??. That really confuses me

Everest

Beth- I have a service dog- I was in LA once and was APPALLED by the insane LACK of dogs on leashes. I hate having to play weird defense and kick a DOG for coming at my leg.

Anthony Burch

jurassic park and guardians of the galaxy

Jessica Estep

God forbid the do something water related like Jaws 🤣

Jiggly Cyanide

I wish there was an exam people took about dog ownership before getting them. And if they failed, they get directed to free resources for studying and get to retake it for free. There's so many dogs though, so it wouldn't be feasible. Better to have a wacky owner than stay too long at the pound 😞

Andrea Rosado Quiñones

Jasmine didn’t go because she was at PAX East doing a Acquisition Incorporated session with Matt Mercer

gerg bergles

I never heard of seven samurai before. Thank you for the best four hours of my life. Those last musket shots. Woof

Bell Train

Last time Anthony shared the youth group Christian castaway story, the pastor didn't know what Wilson represented hmmmmmm

Jordyn May

WILL!!! I went to Catholic kindergarten and I’ve been telling the story of the time they showed us an animated movie abt crucifixion from the perspective of a tree my whole life. I literally had heart palpitations (I have a condition) when you mentioned also watching it. that is WILD! I thought I made it up for the longest time.

Jordyn May

lmaooo I relistened to S1 recently and he just told the story on Talking Dad in my chronology. agreed, I was just gonna say this.

Jonathan Deans

the voice of scrap and wreckage is also the voice of Jim bean from at the mountains of dadness

Raine Reacts

As someone who has JUST finished watching LOTR for the first time, I agree with you guys

Sam Arkush

I love the new season but the old prrson mechanics js seem kinda of slow and hindering

Sam Arkush

Wait???? Did they… play something close to dnd with this episode

Christopher Mihatsch

Anthony asked, "What other famous spears do you know?" And all I could picture is Odin holding Gungnir looking towards Brittany and shrugging.

Whachamacallit

Ancillary Justice is the fucking best. The audio book is top notch too

Sam Corey

Instead of a teensects book a one shot with Ralph as dm and the rest as the sects would be amazing

nico

I want beth to know that i heard the license to krill joke and i really appreciated it

John

This is a lot to ask, but because of how short the animorphs books are, I'd die to have a 2 minute summary of each book by Will every 2 weeks. Oke because they're better than Harry Potter and Kristina Applegate is a trans rights activist, and two, because Ryan Coogler's production company is doing a Animorphs Series soon. (Also there's a gay alien couple, in which one of the aliens is disabled, in one of the books, but like, not explicitly gay because scholastic wouldn't let Applegate do that yet)

Matt Bond

Beth, I would have thrown hands. You’re a better person than me.

Joshua Panter

dang i wanna leave a pic of my bookshelf for judgement/detectorating

Sea Hag

Jesus, to cross: "Rex." Cross, to Jesus: "Shepherd."

Zack Bochman

hell yea Beth for "that's above my paygrade"

emma greene

Book shelf detective reminds me of interior motives on youtube where they look at bedrooms and guess the owner

Michele Dexter

Beth - "License to Krill" I was cleaning out my kitty litter bin and laughed so hard that I accidentally threw the litter out of the box! 😆

Michele Dexter

Oh, and that is totally a book right there! "License to Krill: The True Crime"

Adrienne Rushing

Growing up we had Judgment House, some people call it Hell House I think. A walk through drama following people, usually teens, shit happens, they die, and you watch them go to heaven or hell. And at the end of the grave scene they read everyone’s name in the group and say something like “it’s not your time yet.” I’ve done this for years, it’s normal, then I take my boyfriend, now pastor husband. Our pastor wanted to pray for him afterwards. We left and he was like yeah, that’s fucked up.

Cassidy Bassidy

Rex is the Roman word for King, so that is where the name for the tree comes from. Its a pun

Shannon

Kind of like being an old person. 😅

Amy Arpan

Loved it when Anthony referenced Voltron

Mike Hawk

This has to be one of the funniest episode AOT😂

Jon Thornhill

6(cy I will send it was the mum of my sister who was going for a bit to come to the office to pick me a few hours later so I'll let meg and my mom get out and go home for lunch with her mom for lunch so she doesn't get a lot with her friends or anything a friend like a couple times but she is having a hard to find out what 650pm

Jonathan Dasani

Omg I loved "This is how you lose the time war!"

TheRaging Llama

I will say safe space is a good thing to listen too whilst high af 😂😂😂🔥🔥🪴

MillenniumPhoenix

Dissapointing to hear Anthony double down on the Gamer Gate stuff. I know people were really rude to him back then, but that kind of stuff has really unnecessarily fanned the flames of the far right.

Laeticia

agree. before i got a dog myself, I was absolutely terrified of dogs and couldnt go anywhere because they were running free everywhere
