The McElroy Brothers have a segment on their YouTube channel called Three Boys, Six thumbs, One Heart that is basically the voltron/power rangers idea. They play modded versions of video games that allows each of them control over a different action (Ex. Jump, shield, shoot) or a different part of the main player character's body. They're currently playing Elden Ring and they've split control of the legs, arms and head (so someone moves the body, someone fights with the arms, and the head controls where they're looking at.) It make for some pretty funny moments because you'll have someone walking forward and if the head turns to look in a different direction, they'll walk straight into a bad guy or right off a cliff.

God of War is absolutely not the same thing as Dark Souls. And I get what you're trying to say about both being 3rd person and both have you slashing enemies. But, to me, this is the same thing as saying Friday the 13th is the same as American Psycho, because the main characters both use knives to kill people. So, same thing, right? And the comment about having lack of story misses the point of Dark Souls ( GoW's story is more of a convenient vehicle for the mechanics and equipment and character development, but that's another conversation ) Dark Souls presents atmosphere and lore that allows a player's imagination to flourish. Its lack of clear dialog and nonlinear approach to level progression while figuring out how the world connects with itself is something of an introspective journey within yourself. Couple this with failure you can learn from and triumph you can bathe in, and you end up with self discovery and understanding akin to months of therapy. I'm probably over-inflating the significance of a Dark Soul's gaming experience out of bias, but I've been playing video games since the mid 80's. I have a ton of experience with this topic. And I have a lot to say about a lot of games. I already think it's unfair to lump games into genres, subgenres, and cross comparison genres like Metroidvania. So I can't help but defend gaming itself when I hear such a throwaway comment that carelessly writes off a couple games as being the same thing recycled in different forms. So while I do love Dark Souls, and most all FromSoft games. This is about the overall impression that games can have on player's lives. Tl;dr I'm a passionate gamer and you're wrong

I love how unhinged Talking Dad is getting season after season. The part where they talk about the episode isn't really for anybody anymore. They don't like doing it and it's rarely good. The main show is just a romp at this point unlike season 1 that had some real depth to dig into. If they just replaced it with a second podcast where they talked about movies and games that's really all we've ever wanted from them.

I thought it was a great episode, even if I kind of saw the twist coming. The arc so far has had great story telling, and I really like the ups and downs of the season so far. The masturbation jokes aren’t my brand of humor, but not everything has to be for everyone.

Speaking of grogu I watched the new film. Only seen the first 2 seasons of Mando so maybe that makes a difference But when Grogu is wondering alone and picks up a stick I (AND MY FRIEND) legitimately though he was going to fall into a goddamn time vortex and go back in time and just be Yoda. And yes that's very very dumb. But also would be an hilarious left turn for the film to just leave all the hutts behind with zero explanation for their story 🤣

Frankly Gamer Stack should be a spinoff Patreon podcast. I love it as long as we’re not talking about hangars. 😂 My grandmother was the person who got me into video games. She was 67 when she died about 16 years ago but she would have been an amazing twitch streamer I feel like. She would have told it like it was like Will’s aunt and people would have lived for it.

Will’s frustration around Yoda’s species is so valid. An alien species so rare and secretive that not only do we not know their planet of origin, we don’t even know their name. It isn’t even recorded in the vastness of the Jedi libraries. And yet at one time during the era of the Republic/Fall of the Jedi, there were THREE members of that species on Coruscant in the Jedi temple/order - an 800 year old senior male, a 400 year old adult female, and a 20 year old male baby. And despite being keepers of knowledge, the Jedi (nor anyone else) knows what alien species these 3 belong to? I get that never revealing it was George Lucas’ intent, but I can absolutely understand being frustrated with the logic of the “mystery.” But it is funny to see Matt steamroll someone other than Freddie tho 🤣

Ok, so Beth is right that this group can't play a bunch of women, but otherwise you guys could totally use "Brindlewood Bay" as a between seasons mini-series. Its a PBtA TTRPG cozy murder mystery TV game about murder-solving grannies with a Lovecraftian backdrop. Most notably, the mysteries aren't scripted and the group uses the game mechanics to discover the plot through play. My group played through a campaign and it was one of our favorites.

I really hope they don't add voice acting to the Ocarina of Time remake. I had an immense sense of frustrating dread and foreboding thinking about that again, but then Will had his tirade on Yoda which really helped me decompress. So thanks Will!
