I need to step in on the for roundabouts. I live in Washington state where they are somewhat "new" for 5 years or so they have been added more. I can use them but so many washingtonian suck and there us a super busy intersection that kept getting car crashes to the point where they close one of the rings of the roundabout. I have seen people stop inside to let someone in, I have seen people rip in and you have to slow down fast to not hit them. Best part about Washington State is that it rains a lot... And for some reason EVERYONE FORGETS HOW TO DRIVE. Light sprinkle? How about 10 mph under. Low traction? How about someone cutting in front of you instead of merging behind. Man I hate driving.

I have the same issue! The only way I've managed to circumvent it is to never think too far ahead (for me, it was like a session and a half into the future of the story), trust your future self to come up with something awesome, and try to stick to themes so it'll look like you've been planning the twist the entire time.

I moved to WA from VA, and I can tell you it really depends on the culture. Washingtonians are way more polite and cooperative-minded than Northern Virginians. Roundabouts are GREAT in DC and Arlington, where they DNGAF and will squeeze in where they can because that's the difference between sitting in hours of traffic. PNW is wayy more chill. I blame the marijuana.

Everyone everywhere 'forgets to drive' .. I've come to think that it's just a individual-level mismatch on how much to slow down and their particular skill level of driving. Also, possible mismatch on how different states handle their weather. I can fly down the highway at 80mph in the middle of a snowstorm in Ohio and be fine. In Washington? Shit, i'm not even going outside because the sidewalk is a sheet of ice.

DadSmash: Francis with different legs for Up+B moves or when he gets the Final Smash Ball, he turns into the skin poncho and throws it on the enemy. All of Hermies alt costumes would be Batman villains. Grant’s Final Smash would be the axe spin move. Eunice Mothman would get the enemies sick like different debuffs. Fannie would fight with her boobs. Paeden would be like Pichu and his attacks cause him damage. Ron’s grapple move would be the Bag of Holding over the opponent’s head. Bit of a misconception about pointe shoes - they’re not all made by the same company, but they are all made in the same fashion which is essentially really thick paper mache covered in satin. This style evolved about a century ago from the even more painful and unsupportive precursor which was basically just a soft ballet slipper with aggressive darning at the tip. They are disposable and a professional could easily go through multiple pairs a week. There is a single new manufacturer on the market making 3d printed shoes with synthetic elasticated sock type covering with the goal of being better for long term foot health and not needing frequent costly replacement. They’re ugly as hell and still pretty fringe, but making their way on the scene as a practice shoe and in more avant garde modern ballet spaces.

The reason ballet shoes are the way they are is so that they can be customized to the ballerinas foot. The reason you see ballerinas smashing their shoes against stairs and breaking the soles and stuff is to make the shoe fit their feet properly/to their liking. Ballerinas often sew parts of their shoes as well for more comfort. So instead of having many different ballet slippers there is one standard so the athlete themselves can customize them the way they want to. Also the shoes you’re referring to are called pointe shoes and they need to be very stiff/hard to be safe. Ballerinas aren’t standing on their tippy toes they’re over what is called “the box”. Take a look at some x-rays of ballerinas feet, it’s very interesting.

As a European it was insane to me to find out that roundabouts are considered new in the US. But also, in some countries they have the rule that if you are inside the roundabout, you have to stop for people entering which is equally insane. If made correctly though, and once everyone get used to them, they save both time and lives so just keep hanging in there!

Oh, my special subject is mentionend by my special podcast! The thing with people behaving more dangerous when the percieved safety is higher is called Behaviour Adaptation, and Anthony is absolutely right when he talks about it. Some old studies show that the decline in driver deaths due to the introduction of safety belts are almost completely nullified by the rise in deaths of bicyclists and pedestrians due to people driving faster. I'm not sure exactly where I read that though, so don't quote me directly. The competing leading theories of why this is, has for the last decades been the Risk Homeostasis Theory and the Zero Risk Theory I'd say. One is basically that you have a level of risk that you are comfortable with, and if something happens that lowers your sense of danger you will level it out. The other is pretty similar, but suggest that we control an acceptable level or risk by adapting safety margins to comfortable levels. A great example of this is that taxis equipped with extremely modern safety equipment probably aren't more safe to be in, but they are rated as more uncomfortable for the passenger. The taxi driver will most likely drive more recklessly if they know that they are safe from harm, thus rendering the trip less smooth and enjoyable. This post is also proof that any ad starting with "Scientists don't want you to know THIS particular..." is just bullshit. All we ever want is for people to know this, and we are physically incapable of stopping ourselves explaining things wheter you want to hear them or not. =P

Went to Tombstone last year for a bachelor party in August. It was 100 degrees. Every single person in Tombstone was amazing. The shoot outs were awesome.
