Teh Birb

empire strikes back make me fall in love lord of the rings made me want to make everything everywhere all at once makes me want to achieve

Tonberrimo

Oooh the initials on the ring were "Sally Wilson" XD I thought it was Meryl Streep (but upside down) That makes more sense. Meryl's marriage never came up.

Nicholas Bugeja

I'm actually working on my first low budget horror movie. But what got me into wanting to make movies is HOW TERRIBLE SO MANY MOVIES ARE!!! I was smoking pot watching the new night swim movie, The movie was so bad. I literally told myself. I could probably have a budget three thousand dollars and make a way better horror movie. So I guess we'll find out in a year or two if I was correct or not.

Lauren

Begging for dungeons and dougs plzzzzzz

Dandy

predicted lethal company

Lula Hiigel

Beth listing off all my favorite movies at the end was a surreal experience. 😂

Brandon Curtis

I gotta say: listening to the way they put down 5e, I don’t think any of them have played it with any particularly good GMs. I’ve been playing the same character for 3 years in Rime of The Frostmaiden game; character death is VERY real and our DM has NEVER just arbitrarily tossed a “pack of wolves” at us. Not since like, 1st or 2nd level anyway

Jessica Arthur

I know I'm super late to the party (new to patreon, been listening to the pod for a while now) but thank you Beth for listing Repo! The Genetic Opera. I've loved the movie since it came out, so much so that I have a Zydrate tattoo.

Wander

Matt saying that Speed Racer is one of his favorite movies made me absolutely lose my mind. I LOVE Speed Racer the movie and I cannot state how much I felt validated when he said it

Feline Goddess

Listening to this again and realizing that Kingdom Dad Monster is giving the DnD 1.0 podcast energy they are talking about in this

Bryer

I love the fade out fake out with Beth’s movie list

Claire Wilson

The Dungeons and Dougs/Serf's Up thing sounds a little like "D&D but Everyone is Kobolds." Everyone plays a kobold fighter with 5hp. You are a kobold with a randomly generated name and characteristic (i.e Dolly the Inadequate, Kor the Brutish, Juniper the Sticky etc) and when you get killed you just generate a new kobold.

Gabby Robinson

The way I found this podcast was by looking up DnD Podcasts and I thought the name was funny so I clicked literally if they didn't use DnD I would have missed this masterpiece, I just specifically wanted a dnd podcast I could listen to on Spotify 😅

Alvin Bo Balvin

Oh my gosh, this sounds so great. If season 4 isn't Black Adder DnD v1.0 then please make a mini series about it. It sounds like you're all excited about this for the same reasons that Kingdom Dad Monster is popular.

Alvin Bo Balvin

Goodness me. I paused the podcast and watched Fire Works (Hana-bi) by Takeshi Kitano, and boy am I glad that I did. Wow. That film is art. Best Takeshi and Joe Hisaishi pairing ever. Stupidly stunning. That movie really does throw you one way then another. I'm so lucky that I went into it knowing nothing. Already looking forward to a rewatch someday.

Callum Laughlin

You need to copyright this, because that is brilliant

Claire Wilson

It already exists, Oxventure have played it a couple of times at live shows. It's so much fun.

So the mention of Fury Road at 35:35 hurts me. I was at a drive in theater double feature with a full car of friends. Playing Jurrasic World. And then Fury Road. Words can't describe how excited I was for Fury Road. Austin and I were watching Jurrasic World, and dunking on it so hard, outside my car. Having a great time. The movie ends, it's garbage, and I'm so excited to finally get to watch Fury Road ON THE FUCKING DRIVE IN MOVIE THEATRE SCREEN And then everyone in the car asks why we aren't going home yet. I, confused, turn and say "but fury road is the whole reason we came. The group chat, where we agreed to this. Jurrasic World was garbage. I only came because of fury road." Everyone in the car was adament that we leave. And 20 minutes later, in an absolute rage, I am playing A Day To Remember just loud enough to annoy the passengers, as I drove agaonizingly slow through the parking lot. My friend giving me shit for going so slow the whole time. Stopping at every turn to look back at Fury Road playing on THE FUCKING DRIVE IN GIANT ASS TV THEATRE SCREEN. The sole reason I drove myself and 4 friends 90 minutes away, while I was fully broke, to the DOUBLE Feature drive in Theater. But nah. We saw garbage ass Jurrasic World, and then part of the first 10 minutes of Fury Road that night. Despite our decades long friendship, I will never forgive this transgression.

James Rockwell

Literally describing Kingdom Death Monster

Isabella

Thank you, just added all of these to my letterboxd!

Isabella

Beth thank you for liking Repo 😌

Marissa Y.

As a former film student, hearing these guys talk about film movies is great. I'd love to see their letterboxds.

Broden Orr

Man.. every time I hear them talk about playing TTRPGs in a more genuine sense.. I just get the feeling that none of them have played good games. I play 5e and we play in a way that is 80% story/character based and 20% combat. When we're roleplaying, the rules are mostly just there to facilitate the outcomes of our roleplay, and obviously our DM is basing DC on what we're saying. The best part of having so little combat is that when you do have combat, it's for important narrative moments, and since it's important to the story, it's easier to weave the storytelling into the combat It's kinda crazy how much I disagree with the daddies about what is entertaining about TTRPGs and how I've played my whole life, but also I love this show so much. Our DM is also writing a novel, and using our campaigns as inspiration, so we as players are focused mostly on creating interesting characters for him to work with and arcs that may or may not be complete by the end of the campaign.

TheAnntagonist

Still wistfully waiting for Dungeons and Dougs The pitch was perfect, just sayin'

Devon Suits

DUNGEONS AND DOUGS!! That’s an absolute win. Make this happen.

Mirnaluvsturtles

You mean offices and bosses from hello from the magic tavern? That's exactly what it is

Totax Wilder

Where can I submit my resume for this Entry Level position?

Taco Dragons

Actually they would be talking more like Acquisitions Inc.

Brandon J Allen

The Intern based game has already been done its called Acquisitions Incorporated.

Justin Lamb

While listening to this, I purchased all of the old 2nd Edition books online. It's on.

Hayden Price

Please do Entry Level. My god it's so good.

kinkeyding

You HAVE to do Serfs Up // Entry Level. PLease please please. Bonus content???

Ethan Lynch

I would love to listen to this proposed podcadt

Sam King

Thank you, Matt, for singing the overdue praises of The Wachowskis' Speed Racer. :) (assuming you weren't talking about the original cartoon).

Philip Briones

Can someone make a list of all the movies they mentioned at the end? lol

Lexi SanDiego

SUMMER WARS!!!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Afton Jagels

That would be the best possible season 2. I NEED it now! Please?

cattywampus

Re: Serf's Up, it sounds like the daddies need to check out Grant Howitt's Goblin Quest. :)

Ivan Navi

Watch Summer Wars. I would love for you guys to live stream your reactions for Summer Wars.

Olivia

Serfs up or Entry Level! sounds like a great mini campaign. I can't wait to see J.J. Abrams giant Inter-Planear Dungeon Labyrinth.

Owen Coles Chandler

They've actually already played it, in an mbic a while back

Talbert Tso

"The Fifth Element" is my favorite movie. It has action, comedy, romance, sci-fi, fantasy, and some drama.

Devon Suits

QUESTION: I really love how you creatively open each episode, especially episodes 40 and 19. Out of all the episodes (to include the content on Patreon) — what is your favorite opening? And can you please share some of your planning/production processes.

Chris

you guys should totally do the entry level podcast but have fans take turns like an actual game show on a live stream

Erica Keough

Okay can you do the dungeons and dougs as bonus content for us pls? 🥺🥺

Chris

also how do none of you have a letterboxd haha

Isaiah Galaviz

Dungeons and Doug's has to be a MBIC, you could even just run it with the goblin quest mechanics!

Charlotte Ivy

IDK if anyone is interested but I compiled the list of movies from this episode into a google doc!

William Pearson

I believe a perfect movie would be Awakenings. Such a good story about a real life event

Weiss

Thank you!

Emma Mason

lmao I just came to this episode 2 do the same thing, thank you!

Laney

Beth May Join Letterbox Challenge

Nick S

Okay but...you guys realize this is it, right? This is your next campaign after daddies ends. How do you follow up something as hilarious as daddies? It’s Interns. Do it for the millennials.

Hilary Andrews

So many new movies to add to my watchlist on Letterboxd! Thanks!!

Donna Ibale

Perfect Sam Mendez Movie: 1917 Another perfect movie: Parasite

Tyler Mueller

Matt Arnold is the only person to enjoy Speed Racer besides me. 😂😂

Josiah Muskrat

So now that season one is done, we’re getting Dungeons and Dougs, right??

Nvermind

Sounds like Dungeons and Dougs is basically Squid Games!

Maswarm

Dungeons and Doug’s is a great idea but it should be called dougeons and dragons

Garret

another name pitch, Paid in XP

Natalie Hausler

I love watching movies so much. I almost never watch TV. The game I've started to play is "guess the IMBD score" I've gotten pretty damn good at it. I encourage everyone to play.

Tracelii

You should look up the ttrpg "Paranoia" it's Sci fi but it's very "interns going to incompetently complete a task or job while throwing each other under a bus" (and people who die are replaced by up to 5 clones) and the one game I saw on geek and sundry was SO chaotic and hilarious

O

it's like the exact opposite of me

Zach Spencer

Damn all this talk about great movies and not one mention of Scott Pilgrim

Spinnaker

Their idea sounds vaguely similar to the indie game Going Under

O

Skyfall is one of my favorite movies, and now I can't watch it again, even though I don't know why Sam Mendes movies aren't "okay" anymore lol.

Salt Prairie Photography

I love the idea of celebrity guests for Dungeons and Dougs, but they die right away. Like "This week, special guest Patton Oswalt" then his character dies in the first encounter and he doesn't speak again for the rest of the episode.

Braden Ingraham

Oh my god Beth’s movie take are a rollercoaster ride

Naz Rosenbonds

That home brew game you described is a lot like this mytho magic played at a camp once
