The Dad Crew goes deep on episode twelve of the new season, including how Beth visually conveyed the two Scarys while recording, the litany of Beth May Killshots in this ep, the mind-bending Scrunchie Paradox, and the recurring background characters across episode intros.

Plus, they take some listener questions and get into pranks everyone has pulled growing up, the best entrance music for entering a room, rebellious moments as kids, and how to take the leap into making art professionally with a life full of adult responsibilities.

Garbage Game Night

I was lucky enough to have a few of those hand-me-down-half-blood prince books in school.

Laeticia

I love this joke

Ryan Frederick

i wish i experienced this feeling towards the end. i only want to be good at things and when i'm good at it i don't get tired of it i keep doing it and i love it way more, but can not handle being bad at anything 🙃

Kaiberly Cournoyer-Rowland

I literally played tabletop war hammer in high school, and used to go to the war hammer store every Tuesday to play. Tyranids are NOT loserish. 🥺

Caleb Crawford

Never heard this before, but I love this! Definitely using that in conversation from now on.

Caleb Crawford

As a former English teacher, even if I disagreed with a student's interpretation of text, I would ask them to explain further what they mean and then we could have a discussion about it.

Caleb Crawford

Wow bad teachers! And I know that word by the way: tintinnabulation! I first learned it in an essay by Ray Bradbury about his love for trains. Wonderful word!!

Caleb Crawford

Omg I love referring to covid as the sauce!! 😆

Úlfdís

I believe I learned it from Xanth, it feels like a Piers Anthony word lol

Josie

I needed this. I have the sauce (COVID) and am currently just suffering

Re: teachera being wrong. In 4th grade I wrote a paper about 3 toed sloths and included the fact that some moths lived and bred in their fur. My teacher said I was wrong and took points ofd. I brought in the NATGEO magazine from home that I used as a source with a whole article about the moths and ahe wouldnt give me my points back. 28 years later and im still a little salty.

Úlfdís

And in high school I got into a fight with my creative writing teachee bc she thought i made up a fake word (which if I had done should have been extra points!). The word was tintinnabulation.

Given Video Game adaptations are coming thick and fast, which director would you pair with which game franchise. E.g. (Early) Tarantino does Grand Theft Auto, or the Wachowski sisters doing Cyberpunk 2077.

I remember in Elementary school fighting with a Geography teacher who was teaching us what peninsulas were and I said that Baja California was one and she said that it wasn't. The US map in the room cut off halfway down Baja California and she argued that below that cut off it curved back to connect with the rest of Mexico and there was just a big lake there. I wish we had the internet in the classroom back then to bring up another map.

Wendi Evergreen

I can't think of a good teacher story rn, but my younger sibling will never get over our high school English teacher saying that the green light in The Great Gatsby symbolizes life because that's THE ONLY MEANING green could possibly have. He was unmoved by my sibling pointing out that green is also commonly used to symbolize money and envy

Kels and Kirsten

Omg the elevator thing! I have an injury in my neck, and also have serious asthma. Some random dude got judgy with me for getting off on the 4th floor, and he unfortunately picked a day where I was on my last straw. I don't think he will EVER say anything like that again. Invisible disabilities people!

Kit Pleasant

I’m with Freddie, the answers in the back of the math textbook were a godsend in third grade.

Julie Adams

this episode was so good. personally was a huge fan of tiny link apologizing as he poked big link in the eye haha. matt is crushing it with his characterization i feel like link is fully fledged and i really understand him as a character

Phoenix Vizva’i

I love when you guys talk about the creative process, thanks 😊

Zack Steele

Stunned that I hadn't seen K. Jackson Browne until now. Worth the price of admission.

The phrase "the tools should match the craftsman" is something I always tell people getting into something. If you are a novice at painting, you should have novice tools. Both as a safe guard against spending too much and as a learning technique because if you have top tier equipment you may not know foundational knowledge you would learn using more basic tools and techniques.

Owen

I have a story exactly the same as Matt's teacher story except with math and no one backed me up apart from the head teacher.

Kelly Kratzer

more than anything, I want to hear more from the hermy stan because I also love hermy more than life itself

Brad Melville

Question: Without spoiling anything, how much do the teens know about their grandfathers? What are the relationships between the OG Daddies and their respective grandchild like?

Amy Waller

This is dumb but I thought the worst joke ever and left it on one of Beth's hiking insta pictures. The Legend of Zelda: Beth of the Wild

O

Hey, we ask questions on the Official Discord Server, so if you have a question you would ask it there!

Barlow

After hearing about my favorite games, phasmo and HLL, on my favorite podcast I gotta know, does anyone in the cast do regular livestreams?

Bailey Moore

If I wanted to get into listening to Warhammer 40k books, where do I start and where do I go from there?

King ETL

Sometimes I think im rhe only one who's played army of 2 then mat reminds me I'm not alone

jonathan Beaton

I often tell people: Do what you love because you love it. You’re going to suck at everything the first time. You have to get through the suck phase with love. Have fun not caring about the outcome. Maybe you’ll be able to show other people the results of your hard work one day. But that hard work takes lots of time and the only way to get through it is love what you do.

Nox

This part at the end about starting creative activates as an adult was incredible, i picked up the same hobbies as matt and wasted way to much on primer when i just needed to start painting

Daniel Green

Just gotta say, the editing on this show has always been spectacular and this season it continues to be excellent.

Pamphleteer

With all the elevator etiquette in this episode, I'm really glad my office building has a floor selection screen outside the elevators, so you press which floor you need and the system groups convenient floors together as they get to the lobby. Totally eliminates my embarrassment as going to 3

Sophie B Grapplin

I was SO convinced the scary being honest was the real scary. They absolutely sent me through the five stages of grief trying to work this shit out

Michael Valdivia

I just have to say esters (hopefully I spelled that right) editing skills is amazing.👍

Spinnaker

The elevator at where I work is weird. If I'm in there and someone else comes in and presses a higher number, the elevator will skip my floor and go to theirs. Talk about awkward for everybody.
