BRO Midnight is easily the most underrated Dr. Who episode. It is so good and almost a psychological thriller which is such a unique flavor for the series. Thank you Anthony for calling it out. :) Another one that I would say is good is Silence in the Library.

Did I just hear Anthony Burch suggest we start with Christopher Eccleston??? No no no, you start at season five, you enjoy Matt Smith, you get hooked, then you can go back and appreciate the 2009 cringe, and you get to fall in love with Tennant. (or at least that’s how I did it, my sister tried to hook me with Eccleston and it delayed me liking the show for another two years)

I started with Eccleston. Made it through Smith. But I just couldn't vibe with Capaldi. I keep trying to continue, because I think I'd like Whittaker and Gatwa. But I just struggle SO HARD with Capaldi. I've considered skipping the seasons but I like how the story builds on itself and characters come back.

FWIW, I watched the new specials (where they bring Tennant back lol) with zero Whittaker and like 2 episodes of Capaldi, and I could follow the whole thing. And I loved Ncuti Gatwa so much that I'm fully committed to watching the new season.

Summary: Capaldi is a bit difficult sometimes but some of his stories are amazing and others feel like an acid trip And the 13th through 15th doctors are pretty good despite what some would say. With Capaldi you gotta watch it in segments. His first season in my opinion is his best but the last couple episodes of his 2nd season are amazing. His 3rd is the hardest to get through but thankfully it's the shortest Bill Potts just feels off but it's fine. With Wittaker she is an amazing Doctor her first season is fucking great but the writing went places especially when they introduced the timeless child stuff. She's great, writing not so much. And Gatwa he's an amazing breath of fresh air he's like when RE7 came out minus the extreme amount of LGBTQ stuff being pushed it's fine for the timeframe and story it just feels forced.

i do want to point out that the whole doctor avoids violence is a new thing from the 9th doc forward bacause of the time war. there are multipule times that the doctor would fight in the classic series including one time where he unloads a full 1911 mag into the monster of the week
