Previous Chapter

Laws weren’t so different from curses at the end of the day.

From what Simon gathered from his discussions with Euphemia, they, alongside most divination and some chronomancy spells, revolved around manipulating causality and predeterminated courses of events. Actions and punishment, or a promised relief from pain.

“All Laws and curses are a form of contract, at the end of the day,” Euphemia summarized. “Do not do this, and you shall not suffer; if you offend me, then you will suffer. The tighter the connection between cause and effect, the stronger the magic’s hold on its victim, especially when seasoned with irony.”

Simon blinked. “Irony?”

“Classes aren’t the only things influenced by stories and perception. Laws and curses both rely on a resonance between a punishment and either its cause or exit. A clear…” Euphemia hesitated a moment. “Theme connecting the two strengthens the magic. A Law avenging murder with execution will be stronger than one providing a lighter punishment, though that may sound counterintuitive.”

“So you are saying that the more appropriate the punishment, the stronger the curse?”

“Yes. It is why there are countless stories of thieves being cursed for profaning a tomb, or stealing a mighty wizard’s prized possession. Some curses arise naturally from ill-will born of a transgression, even when the offended party is dead and gone.” Euphemia played with her glass of wine. “Those curses are always karmically appropriate by their very nature. A greedy man turns everything he touches to gold, even his food and drink, until he starves. A cruel lord guilty of cannibalism is transformed into a monstrous wolf so his true self becomes visible to all, and so on.”

Simon pondered this information. “So, if my Edicts are no different than curses besides their power and scale, then they should follow the same logic. The more ironic the exit clause, the stronger its effect.”

“Yes. My husband’s Edict in Bujan summoned storms until all ships had been wiped out from the area. You can see the obvious connection between the two. I assume you could do something similar, such as raising the dead as shambling corpses until a certain person is slain.”

That sounded rather plausible indeed, since Simon’s own Dungeons could already create zombies and other animated corpses on their own. He could also see how his current Edicts thematically connected with his Overlord Class: Endless Night echoed its title as the Lord of Dark, and Wounded Earth represented its destructive nature.

What other themes could he draw upon? Undeath was a given, and his father called upon wrathful storms. Slavery mayhaps? Or time-manipulation? Could he freeze an entire piece of the world in time, trapping all of its denizens within?

A telepathic contact from Shabram interrupted his questions. “Your Majesty, Lady Norbelle and Queen Remedia agreed to support our operation, which will start soon. Can you please confirm Lady Anna’s location?”

“The Holy Cathedral of Serras,” Simon replied after checking Anna’s location. “It seems they’ve already broken into it.”

“Queen Remedia is thankfully familiar with the area and can teleport Lord Maublanc’s team directly there. I shall keep you informed of any new developments.”

The airship began to slow down as Simon cut off communications until they finally landed in Agares.

Nestled among the lush vegetation and flowery hills endemic to the border between Telluria and the imperial heartlands, it must have once been a very peaceful and tranquil hamlet. A few crumbling cobblestone houses bearing traces of fire damage remained alongside an old well, but the only people present were Templar sentries guarding the area as a holy site to the Church of the Light.

The airship landed in a flower field nearby, allowing Simon, Euphemia, Mastemo, Louis, and their escort to climb down from it. Simon had taken Belzemine along for the ride as well, in case the elves tried to abduct her while he wasn’t looking, and he carried Lotan’s grimoire under his arm for safety.

It is a beautiful place, Simon thought as he observed the area. Nature had taken over the ruins, with flowers and moss growing over crumbled walls and roofs. The husk of a young, tower-sized manatree stood in its central plaza, its golden sap gleaming in the sunset. The petrified visage of a sleeping dryad was encased in its bark.

“It is the most beautiful tomb I have ever seen,” Louis commented upon exiting the airship, and he was right indeed. This grave may have had more flowers than stone, but it remained an open mausoleum.

Euphemia gazed at her childhood with melancholia, her gaze lingering on the manatree the longest of all. Mastemo and Beatrice offered prayers, while Simon looked around. His Dark Visionary senses detected a faint halo of light over the area. Belzemine frowned as she looked around.

“Is something the matter, Agnes?” Simon asked.

“I… I am not sure, Your Majesty. This place feels familiar somehow.” The elf frowned in confusion, as if trying to recall a distant memory. “Have I… have I visited it once before?”

“Maybe?” Did it have something to do with the strange power dwelling within her? The whole place seemed blessed with its radiance. “What happened to the manatree?”

“It was like this long before my people settled this region,” Euphemia whispered, her hand moving to its gold-covered bark. “My parents believed our Sleeping Mother was in a deep slumber, waiting for the day the Mana Goddess would return to walk these lands, but that she also watched over us in her dreams.”

Louis scoffed in disdain. “Did she?”

“No,” Euphemia conceded, though there was little anger or bitterness in her voice; only sorrow. “When my people prayed for salvation from the beastmen, our pleas went unanswered.”

“It was the Light alone that granted Her Grace aid through its prophetess’ voice,” Mastemo said with the sincere belief of a true fanatic. “Can Your Grace hear her voice still?”

“Not yet…” Euphemia’s fingers brushed against the gilded bark. “But I feel something will happen soon.”

So did Simon. He didn’t know why or how, but he couldn’t shake a pervading, gloomy feeling that danger lurked nearby. Even Louis appeared to detect it on some level, his hand clutching his sword’s handle.

As for Belzemine, she stared at the tree with focused intent. “What…” She held her head. “What did I forget?”

What… What is this? Simon frowned as he noticed the ambient light brightening. He at first mistook it for mana rising from the tree, but his training with Norbelle had enhanced his sensitivity to magic enough that he could notice the black particle flaring into shining stars around him. Miasma is being purified into mana.

Then a stranger appeared at the foot of the tree in a flash of light.

She was an apparition, a mirage, a ghost in the light cast by the sunset filtered through the branches; a woman of great beauty, with long flowing silver hair and three golden eyes, clad in the Judge’s robes.

Was this Pharis? She looked different from official portraits and artistic representations of her, yet so familiar… so much like–

“Anna?” Louis asked with a slight frown.

The resemblance was subtle yet unmistakable, like a mother and daughter. Simon’s eyes widened as he suddenly realized what kind of divine power Valravn had sought to extract from her. Could Anna descend from Pharis? Or be her reincarnation?

A deep and awed silence fell upon the worshipers of the Light present. Mastemo and the Templars immediately bowed in obedience, their hands joined in prayer, while Euphemia straightened up, her three eyes wide open.

The specter’s lips moved on their own, and though no words came out of them, Euphemia seemed to understand them well enough thanks to her Light-Visionary powers.

“She says…” Euphemia cleared her throat and solemnly straightened herself. “That the Light will descend upon us soon, to reclaim what is rightfully hers. That our prayers will be answered. That the Exalted One will return to fulfill her promise.”

The Exalted One? Simon wondered. The Church of the Light denied the Mana Goddess’ power and deemed her undeserving of worship compared to the distant yet omnipresent Light. Is it… is it real? Were the Church’s beliefs true?

“Holy graces,” Mastemo muttered under his breath, hands joined. “A revelation from the Prophetess Herself…”

“She says… she says we must end this meaningless battle for control with our brothers and sisters from across the sea, for we are all the chosen who will inherit Brimir,” Euphemia translated the apparition’s words. “Obedience to the Light is the one true faith. Glory to the Light.”

“Glory to the Light!” the Templars chanted as one.

“And here I thought you priests were blaming a higher power for your own greed and foolhardiness,” Louis mused with contempt. The sacred nature of this vision didn’t trouble him in the slightest. “I stand corrected. Your feeble creed is rotten at its source too.”

Simon himself felt uneasy as he stared at this ghost. Although she appeared clothed in light, she seemed… wrong somehow. He put on his Overlord armor and focused on her with his third eye of darkness.

“She says it is time to bring forth the eternal Dominion of the Light, where all the faithful are united as one. That we must purify the world–” Euphemia’s eyes widened slightly, her skin paling. “By…”

The ghost… the ghost was made of miasma purified into mana, the same way Simon’s own false holiness changed his aura. Simon peered through that veil of light into the darkness beneath…

“–by exterminating the unfaithful and the unbelievers.”

And then he saw what their Prophetess truly looked like.

Her fair face was a malformed, golden skull with darkness oozing from its toothless maw and shadows swirling in her eyes. She was a corpse clothed in gold, the mother of lies.

“We must put the fear of the Light in their souls, drive our swords into their hearts, and bring fire to their homes,” the ghost said pitilessly, with a shaken Euphemia echoing her words. “We… we must pile their bodies in great pyres whose smoke reaches all the way to the sky. We must be pure of purpose and without mercy, like the blazing sun–”

“Do you…” Simon stepped back in horror. “Do you see that?”

“See what?” Louis inquired with a frown. “A ghost whispering nonsense?”

“I… I do, Your Majesty…” Belzemine had grown pale. She could see the truth too. “I see her as she is.”

“Burn the children of the False Goddess and cast the wicked into Hell,” Euphemia said alongside this parody of a prophetess. “Suffer not the dark ones to live without fear of the Light. Suffer not distorted thoughts. Suffer not the filth of dissent. Suffer not the Lord of Dark to live. Suffer not the eidolons and the dryads. The Light alone is real. Glory to the Light.”

“Glory to the Light!” the Templars chanted as one chorus, one voice speaking through many mouths.

This is a trick, Simon thought. This isn’t the real–

He sensed a connection snap in the depths of his soul, and a message flared in front of his eyes.

Anna-Helel, Maiden of Control, has left your party.

No…

“Kill those who deny the truth. Kill the blind and the doubtful. Kill the Overlord. Kill them all.” Euphemia’s face was now twisted with fear. “Be pure. Be mindless. Be silent. Be grateful. Death to those who oppose the Light. Death. Death. Death.”

Light swallowed Simon’s vision.

He had called upon his connection to the Light Megalith often enough to sense it activating, except this time it was in reverse. He did not contact it; the Megalith instead forcefully poured its power through the bridge of faith they had consolidated across the reigns and turned it into a noose tightening on his throat.

A trap’s jaws snapped shut.

A flash brighter than the sun illuminated Simon’s world, burning his eyes inside their sockets and setting his mind ablaze. A vision forced its way into his soul and filled it with its radiance. He saw a clear and translucent crystal floating in a universe of sunlight, at the center of which grew a six-winged shadow, staring at him, smiling at Simon.

“Be afraid,” Anna’s voice said kindly, her words echoing with otherworldly malice. “Be very afraid.”

The light tried to burn away his thoughts, to extinguish his will and fill his heart with its radiance, to streamline his thoughts into blind worship…

“The Light wills it,” Pharis’ voice echoed, blending with Anna’s. “The Light wills it.”

But there was no light that could conquer true darkness.

Crown of Control negated by Indomitable Crown!

The invincible night in the heart of his soul devoured the unholy radiance and restored him to reality, where a chorus of screams welcomed him.

All the Templars present were shrieking as one, alongside Euphemia, Mastemo, and Belzemine. Halos of light shone above all of their heads, spiked crowns of radiance whose crystal thorns drilled their way into their skulls and souls. Louis alone was unaffected, if not outright serene and vaguely curious, like a bored lion wondering why rats were spasming on the floor. Simon wasn’t exactly sure what was happening, but he had a fairly good idea.

The Maiden had broken free and somehow subverted the Light Megalith.

Reacting instantly, Simon blasted the Pharis apparition with his Hellfire Gaze, burning it to nothingness and setting the manatree on fire. He had hoped this would end the connection, but he went with a more drastic option when that failed.

“Dreadful Aura!”

His aura pulsed around him in a wave of darkness and terror that shut down all Prayers and Holy effects around him through his Heretic Title. Simon knew from experience that any Templar above level 5 was immune to Terror, which his Perk’s Instadeath effect required to work, so most survived. His magic shut down their connection to the Light Megalith and shattered their halos. Beatrice and most of the Templars nearby collapsed on the ground as they broke out of their trances, as did Mastemo. It appeared Simon’s latest levels had put him ahead of the Cleric.

Unfortunately, Simon’s Dreadful Aura only affected individuals weaker than he was. Belzemine and Euphemia were too high-level for him to suppress their connection to the Light Megalith. They both held their heads while their halos grew brighter.

“Fight her!” Simon shouted at them.

“I…” Euphemia grit her teeth. “She’s… our god…”

“She’s lying!” Simon snapped at her. “She’s no holy light, but an imposter and a Zodiac Fiend! Fight her off!”

“I… no more lies…” Euphemia put on her Judge outfit, her Noble Crestone’s power pushing back the halo closing in on her soul. She grabbed the crown with her bare hands and Simon could feel her burns through their bond. “I serve… no more!”

She roared as she ripped the halo apart, shattering it to pieces.

However, Belzemine had no such luck. Her Devil Brands burned on her skin in response to his order to fight, with darkness and light warring for control of her soul. The otherworldly glow that always surrounded her brightened until Simon had to close his third eye of darkness so as not to be blinded.

“Belzemine!” he called out too late.

The light within Belzemine erupted into a pillar that burned her to a crisp, leaving only a charred skeleton in a ring of burning grass. Her death reverberated through the brands and left Simon reeling with pain.

But he had no time to mourn or cry.

“Brother.” Louis unsheathed his sword and put on his Hellblade outfit. “Do I have your permission to clip some wings?”

Simon looked around to find monsters surrounding them.

Simon’s Dreadful Aura only had a limited range, and it only engulfed those closest to him. The Templars beyond his reach had undergone a startling transformation. Their Class armor had merged with their flesh and turned into a layer of translucent crystal, black spheres crowned with light floating above their heads, while rays of light poured out of their visors. Manalith wings had grown out of their backs, and glowing blades materialized in their hands. They advanced upon them like puppets moved by an unseen will and driven to kill.

“Yes,” Simon said, Balefire teleporting into his hand. “Yes, you do.”

Anyone know how you pronounce vouivre?

cjl

Lux Vult = the light wills it

Turtle

good gloop is coming tomorrow I can feel it

Jasus

So all is as predicted?

Jamael Cape

Damn the cobweb moved fast as fuck this particular reign.

Chris Fox

It's a french word that's similar to dragon. Google translate for french probably has a reasonable approximation.

andrew barnes

Man this chapter felt short. Nice to see the foreshadowing come to fruition though.

Andrew Lechner

Crown of Control. I suspect Simon will die in this reign long before the Maiden's turn in the Zodiac Parade comes, but I can't wait for the time comes for Simon to break her over his knee then absorb her power for his Crown. Plus it would make subsequent reigns so much easier if he can use the Crown of Control to bring both the War and Church party underlings to heel.

Robocub

Honestly surprised that Maublanc's strike team couldn't even delay the possession by teleporting in the cathedral, did they get there too late or are they all dead somehow? Not surprised that the light has been taken over by the Maiden tho, shit was basically guaranteed with all the hints we've been getting lol.

Hive Tyrant

Never mind the maiden is just as sketchy as the Twins

Juice

Well hopefully this a lesson for Simon about obfuscation in his future reigns with regards to Anna. The Cobweb has abducted her twice now with information given by Simon, first by directly stating her lineage to Verney and now by putting too much importance on her protection/safety on top of the castle being eavesdropped on. I wonder how long it would take for them to make that connection if he didn’t play into his fear of her abduction at all.

Kosta

The mefalight is the maiden. I honestly thought that it was an artificial eidolon created by Elios Magnos to oppose the elves

InsertName099

Very very interesting how Louise was immune... a perk, or simply the benefit of a high level? Anyway, glad to see the Maiden make her debut... turns out the Light was a Zodiac Fiend all along, huh? How appropriate.

X

Light wills it!! So the Oracle isn’t the Maiden in disguise after all…

MasterofNova

Hmm, I was so focused on thinking about the Loki twist in NDT that I didn't peep the Hollow Knight reference. While expected by this point, it was still well done. Curious how this confrontation will end tho considering the Meteor isn't really close so the maiden shouldn't be operating on that high of a level. Especially considering how strong Simon's crew is rn (specifically Euphemia and Louis). Although our warrior Prince probably needs his crestone back for this one. Also, this might be the first reign I feel like we should just spin back as is. This is pretty stable/efficient path to what Simon's wants when it comes down to it.

Benjabie Rubino

Agh! Too short! I'm already experiencing withdrawal symptoms!!!

Jannik

Amazing chapter, I really liked Euphemia in this chapter how she rejects being controlled again and Louis for how he is not even remotely in danger of being controlled by someone else. Curious if we would resist the Lion in the same way.

Yozora

so we were right when we thought that Anna was the maiden's host

Jannik

I am curious if it has been taken over or was the maiden to begin with.

Nightmare Lore

Well Shit. If this is bad, how worse does it get when Abraxas comes to her. Also shows what was happening during the Summoning chapter of this Reign, Mastemo and Euphemia having black wings and crowns of thorns.

Bilbo

kek love how everyone is tripping meanwhile Louis is like "neat so we get to colony drop elves now?"

blib

My Issues: 1. Belzamine is a great character, but for supposedly one of the most powerful beings in-universe she's constantly dying in very lame ways. 2. Anna is boring and unlikable. Norbelle is hilarious, Remedia/Euphemia are conflicted, Belzamine is tragic, Cassandra is a female autist, and all of them constantly are helping Simon. Not Anna. She's deadweight and isn't even good for banter. She desperately needs some "pet the dog" moments.

A Zen

He simply did not believe it even for a moment

George R

Great chapter

blib

Minion Creststone (Overlord Vassal Class) To Serve the Master (Passive): Of what use is a slave that cannot labor? All minions receive a miasmic boost corresponding to their sworn Overlord. Here's a quick idea how to fix the companion power gap. A Simon manufactured vassal class that operates purely like the Dark Eidolon buff except on retainers/classes. The more powerful he is, the more powerful the buff. Designed to synergize and not as a stand alone class.

ChaosCatFood

Louis remains badass as fuck. Simon + Euphemia + Louis working as one to fight the Maiden is hopefully a vision of the future to come, a united force against the Zodiac Parade.

Robocub

Thinking about it, the light megalith definitely existed before the Doom, but i can't remember any mention of the light religion before it (so before the Maiden was sealed). Could she have started the whole thing?

Bing Lun

Every chapter feels too short, I NEED MOREE😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Rheklr

Typo: nested -> nestled

Sunless

The cobweb saw Ana at the wedding, and that is what prompted all of this. I don't think Simon had anything to do with it this time.

mhaj58

If the maiden embodies the fear of loss, control, and heights, does that make it possible that the Light is a scam for believers to worship the Light?

X

Makes some sense. Using Religion as the instrument of control

Nightmare Lore

Ahh fuck. The Paladin's the Noble Crestone to the Templar, who wants to bet the Champion of the Light is corrupted? The Cleric didn't stand a chance.

RedZingyHedgehog

Yeah I think the mind control only works on people who have prayed to the light megalith.

A Zen

Bro. Please. The Lion would just go... "Hey pssst Looouis I'll help you WAGE WAR" And he's sold

Noxx

I might be wrong about this, but aren't their two factions of Zodiac Fiends? The ones that want to rule the world, and the others that want to destroy it; due to their differing natures? It wouldn't be a bad move by Simon to pit them against each other for now, since he can't stop the Parade until Abraxes' shines on their constellation, and he devours the crestones.

Andrew Lechner

Belzamine is a level 80 something healer. Lots of utility powers, but low combat potential against other high level class users, especially the noble class users Simon keep finds himself up against.

Nightmare Lore

Really? I was seeing a Perfect Run reference. One of the "What if" chapters if I remember correctly.

Nightmare Lore

That, and probably because he doesn't have either the Cleric or Paladin Crestones. Or their vassals.

Antony444

Well, it all went to Hell rather quickly. Excuse me, it went to the Light...Light Vult! Dear, this isn't going to be nice. The Maiden encourages fanaticism, and she was just in the heart of the Holy Cathedral of Lore... I really hope the Oracle is satisfied with what she had done, because the number of deaths from that is not going to be small.

Erik

Really asking him to go full Dark Lord with that plan

Nightmare Lore

Ha! Reminds of how Diablo and his brethren pretended to be benevolent gods. Feels the same way.

blib

1. She's still 10 levels higher than Simon in her primary and she's moderate to high level in several other classes. 2. She hasn't had utility use since a very long time ago. Simon's been able to heal since the Templar run. 3. She's been dying this way since Simon 1st started. The "mental" fails make perfect sense. The "physical" fails absolutely do not.

Michael

The Light wills it. Nice reveal. TFTC

Randoudo

And he would say: "as if i need your help for that"

alejandrox

Thank you for the chapter!!! No!!!! The light!!! It's blinding me!!!!

NotaQMaalt

I want Simon to survive this so badly just because it’ll be interesting to see how The White Uniform and the public in general will deal with the aftermath of this clusterfuck. Because, this is pretty much the Oracle’s fault. Since Gargauth, every scheme she did (in universe) went horribly wrong. Supported Euphemia and Balzam to get rid of Gargauth so Euphemia could inherit the class. Went wrong. Gave a god-tier blessed weapon to Luis (lmaoooo) to murder Balzam and hopefully get rid of the Overlord class. Plot fail. Supported a known-criminal and demon-worshipper in a bid to either kill the overlord or fuck with him (fail horribly). And as a consequence, they are now dealing with the strongest zodiac’s friend out of containment

Logrus

Well - We all saw this coming. Wonderful foreshadowing Void!

Diego H.T.

"La luz lo desea" Lux Vult, nah tremendo capitulo llegó, primero la pelea del overlord en su castillo y ahora un, al igual que él, farsante de la luz 🔥🔥🔥🐐solo puedo esperar hasta mañana!!!

Raphael Freudenschuss

Lets be honest here, what would be happening is this. Louis: Hello Lion. Do you want a war that never ends? I want a war that never ends. Lion: Uh,... what? Louis proceeds to yoink the lion.

Hubris

Yep, Maiden is Radiance

WitherdAway

Just a little theory but the reason Mardok and all other overlords have kept the belezamine around is that her connection the light or divine power or whatever can be weaponised against the maiden. No idea how and why but definitely seems like something mr deceit Mardok would do.

Nightmare Lore

I'm curious about Freya, the elf the Paladin wanted to wife. Is she aware that the Maiden would hijack him? Because his vassal Crestones sure are hijacked.

A Reader

Was this inspired by the Radiance in The Hollow Knight?

Leo S.S.

Great chapter, really loved the entrance of Anna-Helel. Her leaving his party was very dramatically funny as well. Euphemia popping off and Louis was great as always. Looking forward to the following fights

Jordan Braxton

I just wanna see Louis tear things apart

Myrdin

Pretty certain he is going to be immune to mind control, similar to the Overlord

Kris Bruns

I dont think the Light itself is the Maiden, as it seems like the Light and the Dark are far more ancient then the Zodiac fiends. Rather the Maiden tricked people into believing she was a Prophet of the Light, and manipulated them through the Church of the Light she founded as Pharis.

A Reader

This definitely seems inspired by the Hollow Knight. the Knight is basically the Lord of the Dark.

Ikra

I think it's too early for Maiden to be defeated especially if devouring permakills them along the reigns

granndfunk

Badass moment from Euphemia right there. Also it is sometimes annoying how much the other factions can do against Simon despite how much more he learns each Reign :(

Ikra

Louis is simply built different. He's a psychopath

Ikra

The cleric already had zodiac fiend implanted in him. I wouldn't be surprised if Maiden came up with that idea as part of her master plan, she's zodiac demon of Control after all. Paladin crestone seems more sentient than others and was capable of purifying the seed of miasma tree.

mibrainisdead

Louis has directly stated he doesn't need a demon to become a god of war. He viewed Verney's proposal with obvious disdain.

Mark Roudabush

turns everything he touches turns to gold

CentaureHeart

Yeah just give the Warrior class back to Louis

MasterofNova

I mean, yea the time prison thing was there but I was talking about in reference to the Anna situation not just references in general. Ig I wasn't specific tho.

Darksli

Why is Simon not with the strike team ? Like he just left Anna and Cassandra to their demise ? After letting Anna down already when she tried to summon him ? It make no sense.

Darksli

The Scale, the Goatfish and the Crab are all at known locations and could be unleashed against the Maiden and her clique. Just drop one in the Attic and let the Cobweb to deal with it. The Minotaure seem to be in Simon's corner already (somewhat) he could try to hammer an alliance which could be very beneficial, as Vouivre seem to think that it is on the same level as the Maiden.

Kaze

Feel like at this point Simon could just give Louis back his crestone, he's been pretty chill.

Juice

I imagine he will get it back once they get out of this situation, I wonder if Louis would be this much of a stalwart ally if we got the War Party reign instead cause he’s definitely won me over with his attitude lately

2026-09-05 11:00 It was so fucking clear. The MC is still too dumb for his own good sometimes ^^ A little bit on the nose this "plot". Still a good read

ThwartedHalo

Unless the Oracle is being directly controlled by the Maiden

Nightmare Lore

Against Miasma. Maiden was being clever and was using - to quote - "made of Miasma purified into mana." Might not work so well against the Light itself. The Light is Order, and Order can easily become Tyranny. I will note however, that Edict of Endless Night might actually be useful for this situation.

Nightmare Lore

His Charisma growth was high, and his innate Perk was immunity to all PHYSICAL ailments. Nothing said about Mental.

Nightmare Lore

You mean the Radiance bit, didn't pick up on at first.

Dream Disposal

Yeah, I wasn't a big fan of Simon this reign in that regard. Despite having all the clues and chances to get somewhere with this, he constantly fails. He wasn't even with the strike team to save Anna and Cassandra.

Nightmare Lore

The Mana Goddess would have been killed already if that was the case.

Nightmare Lore

What, and the Maiden took one look at him and said "Nope"?

Rhultal Vox

It's cool to see some Shaman Village from Elden Ring in Agares. Also, Louis might be a warmongering sociopath, but has always been That Guy.

Vik M.

A corpse wreathed in gold leading an army of zealots. Perfect. Terrifying. At least they don't have the Judge or Cleric yet. But the number of believers... I'm not looking forward to seeing what they do to the world.

Charlie

IIRC part of the reason was that they didn't want to antagonise Lore.

00Resu

If I remember correctly, it's only the Maiden that wants to rule the word and the Twins/Verney just works under her as a servant. The Crab* would technically fall into the world domination faction, only because its bound to a book, but its agenda falls in line with the other group. So far, I think the only Zodiac Fiends vying to rule the world are the Overlord and Maiden (maybe the Two-Tailed Fish too?). The others, except for the Twins & Crab*, want to destroy it.

Charlie

Trouble is that the other fiend faction prefers to destroy the world rather than control it. But maybe a short term solution.

D.A.Janik

Belzemine isn't even the top 30 most powerful humanoids in universe. And I literally didn't count Zodiac fiends, Eidolons etc. In grand scheme of things her personal combat power is insignificant. She obviously has some significance/special thingy related to Light though, and that's her greatest narrative significance (outside of Simon trying to heal her)

E

Yeah when he said that at the end I was like yeah I guess just toss that thang back to him at this point. The only thing is I wonder how that Crestone vision of whatever OG warrior getting wrecked by that blinding light enemy is going to come into play

Felix H.

Damn Simon really can't catch a break. Thats the...8th existencial crisis for the world? He really got his work cut out for him

Hollowlce

With this insight into laws and their relation to Simon's edicts. He needs to use an edict against the oracle for delicious irony, such as until you are willing to speak truth your land and people will be blind to your visions, and eye for an eye ect.

JJ

“Could he freeze an entire piece of the world in time, trapping all of its denizens within?” Okay, blue-Manic Ryan Romano. I guess it’s time to reread the perfect run.

Oak

“Be afraid,” Anna’s voice said kindly, her words echoing with otherworldly malice. “Be very afraid.” By the Light, the author is writing fire once again.

Stilico

Louis is like this because he got humbeled and had to finally do some introspection into himself. Simon has earned his respect and he has developed into trying to be less of a "tool"
