Hi guys, here is the promised poll. Time to choose my next web serial after the Perfect Run. Dark Fantasy, or Cultivation?

1) Underland (Dark, Lovecraftian Fantasy)

An underground tale of necromancers, machinists, and exploration: https://www.patreon.com/posts/54061810

2) Sword & Shield (Eastern Xianxia Cultivation)

A story of two cultivator siblings, trying to find a new home in a hostile world: https://www.patreon.com/posts/54061660

Voted for Underland - but I would love to see the build out flipped to a woman protagonist. Just a thought!

Daniel Aguirre

Honestly don’t care too much which one gets picked; I’ll be here reading it anyway

Nate

Results as expected so far - I'm rooting for you, Sword and Shield!

Crownfall

Sword and shield, take my energy!

BananaInMyPants

Same, I picked Underland since I wanted Void to explore the death in civs more, but the female perspective would be amazing as well!

Tyconim

I voted for sword and shield but I would love to read Underland too. Both seem like very good ideas.

thkiw

both sound nice. and the kingdom building is more slice of life. so, why not do both instead but just focus on one story rather than the other?

Deinos

A female PoV is easily done wrong though.

Jdosnoen

I really like the idea of a female mc, and the art is lovely but underland sounds more attractive

Armo

I am not as enthusiastic about a female protagonist, which seems to be the major theme in these comments. I trust Void, but I’ve been burned before on good female representation in fantasy. A female protagonist is not necessary to me enjoying the story, but a badly done one can do a lot of harm to that enjoyment - and in my experience there are few men that can write good women protagonists (Though it has been done!). I am primarily looking forward to magic exploration and the chemistry between Och and Valdemar. In the end, it shall be as Void decides, but I like the proposal as it stands.

Robert

Already plenty of Eastern cultivation stories out there gimme Underground Bloodborne the webnovel.

Konrad2

It's not that we want any woman PoV, but that we want a good one.

Nar

Seconded (or maybe thirded?). A female POV in Underland would be lovely.

Niloc

I've been wanting a good town building novel for forever, so I gotta go sword and shield!

Reviv3pls

Sorry I'm gonna have to go with underland as I absolutely cannot stand eastern cultivation novels. There's too much spiritual bs and everybody is constantly demanding respect and never giving any in return and then the vast majority of everyone in said stories are hypocrites. I've read so many cultivation novels that were the same as the last one and constantly using big words like unfathomable or profound to try and make it seem more interesting but end up using them for every other thing like if it's a slightly good technique its profound and if its slightly worse than that one its total garbage. And let's not forget to mention the fact that the Mc is usually some poor bullied kid down on their luck who gets lucky somehow and is apparently the only good guy in the whole starter town and the whole world is against them. And then there's that bs about having to harden your heart on the road of cultivation and the path go the top being a lonely one when they're the ones pushing away their own friends and family or just killing them themselves. So yeah no cultivation novels for me

Reviv3pls

Ikr plus half the sh*t in a cultivation novel just make no f*cking sense

Reviv3pls

Though yamirmoon(patreon writer) did pretty good at taking a step off the beaten path though he still has a bit spirit mumbo jumbo in there some times

Niloc

There are bad cliches and tropes in everything, and the best wu/xianxia I've read largely avoid the most egregious. I feel like assuming they'll be in their is selling our voidy boy short!

Niloc

Been looking for a good town building novel for forever, and would love to see your take on cultivation!

Subliminary

Try Defiance of the Fall. I just binge read 700 chapters in the last week or so after someone in a LoRG discord was talking to me about Azarinth Healer. It’s a nice mix between Azarinth Healer, levels/skills/etc, and standard cultivation

Douglas

I know I am a bit late for the poll but are you going to be writing only one of these novels or will both be written eventually
