Hey everyone! 🌌I’m beyond excited to finally share with you my biggest project so far - the Orbitails Vending Machine, now live on MakerWorld! 🎉

This was a huge collaboration created together with MakerWorld - and it took me an incredible amount of time, work, and energy to bring it all together! 🧡 Because of the project’s size, you’ll notice the files are split into multiple posts on MakerWorld - there was just too much to fit in one upload! 😄

✨ About the project:The logo was designed for laser cutting (perfect for the H2D printer) - but don’t worry, I also made a 3D-printable version for everyone who doesn’t have a laser. The vending machine itself is quite large, so it’s not suitable for small printers, but the eggs and creatures will print just fine on most standard machines.

Each creature has:🌠 its own dedicated egg🌠 a unique feature or moving part🌠 and uses fun filaments - especially glow-in-the-dark ones! 💡They really make the whole collection shine!

🧩 Please remember - each model post on MakerWorld includes specific printing notes and important tips (like pause info, or what materials to use). There’s also a detailed PDF instruction file explaining how to assemble the vending machine - please read it carefully before starting your print!

💬 If you run into any issues or want to exchange screenshots, please join our Discord server! It’s much faster for sharing pictures and getting help. The community there is awesome - full of people who really know 3D printing and are always happy to help! 💪

🔧 In the model posts you’ll also find links to the materials I used - like LED lamps, magnets, screws, and of course the filaments and colors that made this project so special.

🌌 Orbitails is a collection of little creatures from distant galaxies - perfect for festivals, gifts for kids, or simply to make your own day brighter! Because let’s be honest... we all deserve a bit of joy, right? 😄

Thank you all so much for your patience, support, and kindness! 💙For my Patreon members, I’m preparing fun facts in your requested languages - I’ll post them soon! Also, expect a YouTube tutorial soon where I’ll show how to assemble the whole vending machine step by step.

💛 A small note:If you’d like to sell printed versions of these models and you’re not currently on the Print & Sell tier - make sure to join that tier before doing so.It helps support my work and keeps everything fair and creative for everyone! 🌟

OMGOSH!!! You are killing these vending machines!!!! Im only doing one show this year and its in November and thank goodness I got 2 spaces cuz im gonna need it for all these amazing things you come up with! Holy S**T ! Im dying over here... better go get all the info printed so I can start on this one too... I still have hundreds of dino eggs to finish LOL Yikes, I need more printers... and help. I really need help 😱🤪 THIS IS GOING TO BE AWESOME!!! Thank you for everything you do and all your hard work and your amazing brain that puts all this together! 🥰

Oneday one day at a time. lol I haven’t got out there to see what people would like. My hubby got his coworker friends wanting 3d printed stuff. I’m like well I’ll do it after I print my stuff I had already started. Yes I’m new to all of this. I think a month now I’ve had my printer.

Michelle Kern

do you know how many eggs will fit in the machine at once? rough estimate, because i assume each type of egg is a little different in size, so it will vary.

PrintyJay

Hey! Around 15 eggs can fit inside the machine, or about 15 of those standard 55 mm plastic capsule eggs you can find online :) The exact number depends on the insert that goes inside the machine- without it, the eggs would constantly get stuck. The insert helps reduce that and keeps everything moving more smoothly.

PrintyJay

Thank you so much for your kind words! This project brought me a lot of joy - but if you saw me while I was actually making it, you’d know there were way more nerves and doubts about whether I’d even manage to finish it XD I went through hundreds of meters of filament and said quite a few bad words along the way XD But in the end, something finally worked, and I think it’s functional now! Eggs are such an unforgiving shape - the number of ways they can get jammed inside is infinite! I was literally pulling my hair out wondering how that’s even possible XD And I was so sure it would be easy, because I’d already made a vending machine for the dinosaurs... well, I was wrong XD Just a slightly different shape, parameters, slopes, or egg sizes - and suddenly everything changes. I can’t wait to see some photos once you manage to print a few! It always makes me super happy to see my designs printed by others :) Sending warm greetings!

Giamarie Saponaro

I can only imagine!! Well, I honestly thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your hard work and even all your swearing to make this project a reality. I will definitely take photos for you! Thank you for including an alternate piece for the sign since I do not have an H2D. And I just love the little creatures you made for this too! They are adorable!!

PrintyJay

Yes, that was exactly the idea! I didn’t want to scare people away with parts that are impossible to make or require the H2D - it was more about showing that you can nicely enhance your projects :) There will definitely be a few more MakerWorld projects that use the laser, but I’ll try to keep it as an extra option or part rather than a necessary element :)

I made 2 of the tiny Vets also. I would of made more but I only had just happened to order 2 of the lights needed. I am placing another order to get the cylinders to make this one so I am ordering them to make more of them also. I added all 3 of the animals, x rays, hex tool and battery replacement to the set as well and packaged them in those clear boxes and it all fit perfectly! Super happy with the way they came out!!

Michelle Kern

Thank you! That helps. Also which rigid acrylic tube is the large one? just the biggest one they have? Want to be sure i order the correct size, and they had 5 different ones

Michelle Kern

Also, LOVE the design!!!! Thank you so much!!

DeezFiles

After downloading the instructions I think we may need a video tutorial on how to assemble it lol

DeezFiles

If we add another wall and increase infill with it still line up correctly?

PrintyJay

It should still line up correctly. Adding another wall only affects the inner structure, not the outer dimensions also prepare both M3 and M4 screws - you can use them interchangeably :) Sometimes the hole sizes can vary a bit, and M4s will easily thread into the plastic if M3s turn out too loose!

Is there anyway to stop the flashing led on a timer? or does it just go until multple coins are inserted/waved in front of it

Kimberly S Tritt

I just joined, but where do I find the files for the eggs and the things that go in them? I am confused for some reason. I want to start printing these so I have a bunch done by March. Also, How much filament does it take to make the machine? Thanks. I am kinda new to all of this.

PrintyJay

Welcome and no worries at all - happy to help 😊 The eggs for Orbitails are available on MakerWorld - https://makerworld.com/pl/@Printyjay.com As for filament usage, I’m not able to check the exact amount right now, but this information is always shown in your slicer after you load the files and select your printer and settings. That will give you the most accurate estimate. If you’d like, I can later give you a rough estimate for the whole machine as well. Just let me know! For technical issues, it’s much easier to resolve them on Discord. You can share screenshots there, and there are more people who can help as well. I’m not always available right away due to time zone differences, so Discord is usually the fastest option. You’re very welcome to join here: https://discord.gg/K8U4SYEBKZ

First of all, I’m really sorry for the late reply - I have no idea how I missed your message, please forgive me! About the LED you’re asking about - I assume you mean the one near the token slot. I used the LED from the BambuLab store because it fit this project perfectly and added a bit of fun with the blinking effect. You can check its dimensions and try to find a completely different LED that would also fit there if you like. The LED from the store is activated by magnets inside the tokens - they are printed inside them, which makes it a nice extra feature 😄 It works like this: you bring the magnet close once - the light turns on constantly bring the magnet close again - the light starts blinking bring the magnet close a third time - the LED turns off And it keeps cycling like that. The LED is completely optional 🙂

Kimberly S Tritt

Thank you, I found them all. It was hard looking. There are 5 Orbitails, correct? I got the grams from the slicer, but have yet to figure out how many of each roll that I need for the machine. So, I have to do all of the math. When Downloading for the machine, do I do Labs for all of the parts or the STL? I have a Hi that I will be printing it on. Thanks again.

Hi. I thinking about upgrading to commercial member so i just wondering how that works. Do i have to buy every model on top of the license?

PrintyJay

Hey, so here is how it works - as a Print & Sell member you get access to all the newest models. At the moment these are: Bearded Dragon Terrarium, Axolotl Tank, Squirrel Tree, Owl Hooters, plus bonuses: Crackasaurs Vending Machine, Crackasaurs Vol. 2 and Dino Fossil Puzzles. On top of that, you can download all models from my MakerWorld and you are allowed to sell the physical prints. For my older Patreon models, you also receive a promo code that lets you buy any of them at a lower price. That is basically it in a nutshell ;)

CJCreates3D

We are super interested in getting a commercial license but i'm trying to understand and please direct me if I missed it but you said the vending machine itself is not good for "small printers" which is what we were planning to print. What is considered a small printer please? We just got a P2S. Will that work? and if it's not already in the info above and i'm a goober and am staring right at it, might you consider updating the info above for newbs like me so that might be made clear :) Love all your work my son is ecstatic! and can't wait!

PrintyJay

“Small printers” in this case means the A1 mini - its build plate is 180 x 180 mm, and that’s exactly the type of printer I was referring to. The P2S will be perfect for this vending machine - no issues at all 👍

Arne Vollmer

Will the be more eggs available?

PrintyJay

If there’s enough interest, I may create more animals and egg versions in the future :)

Chad & Kristine

Would love to see more animals/eggs added also!!!

Kelsie

Are the orbital included with this file love this idea so much

GonzBoyz 3D Prints

i am not finding the eyes for the turtles. I only found ones for the salamander. Are they all the same?

PrintyJay

Hey - which eyes do you mean exactly? The eyes are an integral part of the head in both the Moon Salamander and the Ceres Turtle - unless you’re referring to the eggs from Orbitails?

GonzBoyz 3D Prints

How did you get the eyes to glow and have the iris? Are these painting in the slicer? I am only seeing eye sockets?

PrintyJay

Make sure to open the 3MF file, not the STL - you’ll see the eyes are already painted there. The glowing effect is just glow-in-the-dark PLA - there are filaments like that and they give a really nice effect 🙂

PrintyJay

It’s not available ready-made - you need to print it, buy the mechanical parts listed on MakerWorld, and assemble it yourself.
