I’ve been working on a video about Bontempi Memoplay 26, a beautifully styled toy keyboard from 1981. The basic sound of this instrument is very simple, just a pulse wave with no way of changing the tone, but, as I discovered in my video, it really opens up when put through effects pedals. In these patches, I’ve put it through a Microcosm (by Hologram), the Generation Loss (by Chase Bliss), as well as my own Refractions effect. The results are a range of different lo-fi textures and sounds.

As as always, if you're logged in, you should be able to download this library directly from within the DecentSampler store. Otherwise, you can download it directly below.

Enjoy!

Fantastic -- tx Dave! On the Memoplay 26 retrofuture design, the creators also envisioned the perfect effects pedal parking lot on top. Magnifico! Your line jack mad skillz hack generated no toxic smoke this time. Magnifico, numero 2!

Thanks Dave. Old enough to have lived through these things when they were new - and Bontempi = "oh my god, no" back then. But you created some nice sounds and textures out of it! I'm sure I can use some of these. This is nice, many thanks.

Hi Dave. Excited to get started unfortunately I've come across an error while trying to download the samples from the Decent plugin in Ableton saying "Zip file was empty". Am I doing this wrong?

Hi Andrew! Yes, sometimes after downloading a file sample library, you will get a message that says “The zip file was empty” followed by the exact path of the zip file. This is almost always because DecentSampler wasn’t able to write to the folder in question. A good way of troubleshooting this is to see if you can open the folder yourself. Are you able to get access to it?

Andrew Olivares

No, sadly the download progress bar stats at 0% and the error pops up almost immediately. I also tried changing the folder path to something else in case it’s a permissions issue but that didn’t do much either. I noticed it happens to all the packs that have a 5 dollar Patreon exclusive icon, I don’t know if that matters?

Ah, that is helpful! Those are hosted by Dropbox. I was just able to download one of them without trouble, but I wonder if something is preventing the Dropbox links from working correctly sometimes. I will try switching it over to Cloudflare (my main host) later this evening.

I did figure out I could download and unzip directly from the link you provided above but the other patron exclusives might be a bit of a hunt. In any case, loving your stuff and I already started a new thing just from trying out your samples! Very inspiring stuff :)

I've switched this specific library over to a different web host. Would you be able to try downloading from within the plug-in again? If it works, I will switch the other ones over tonight.
