Well... here it is. It's time to face Nathan, and West Ham.

Tensions are high, Nathan's a prick, and Keeley's having a nervous poo...

Enjoy!

Claudie, you have solved the riddle - Jamie is in fact Winnie the Pooh!

Ian Forbes

I’ve always interpreted Michelle’s smile at the end as a sign she misses Ted and is impressed he’d speak up about his feelings in a serious manner, and not wrapped in his trademark optimism and humor. But as with all things, that could also be me projecting.🙂

CHRISXGAMESALOT

She's smirking cause Ted finally was vulnerable with her.

Thank u - I think I’ve seen this episode a dozen times by now & never noticed Michelle breaking into that little smirk/smile at the end. Quite a twist of the knife there. FUUUUUUUUUUCK…

WE’RE PLAYING LIKE ITALIANS 🤣🤣🤣 It’s so weird and funny)seeing Dani angry. And I’m totally here for bisexual Keeley — let’s go!!

Trisha Gorrell

I think Michelle was happy that Ted finally stood up for himself and told her he was upset. A little proud of him. That's how I took it.

Carrie Petty

She was smiling because Ted stood on business rather than ignore it or use humor to laugh it off.

Kevin

Well, as the man said, "It's all poop-eh"

Regarding the end, I took that as Michelle kinda smiling/crying. Most likely for the reason Trisha Gorell stated previously. If one looks back at the episode in season 1 when Michelle was visiting with Henry, Michelle said what she wanted most was to feel the way she did in the start. I never really think the love for Ted really went away, it just got lost unerneath the mess of everything else. Also, with what said in the call in this episode, there really wasnt any way for Michelle to reply correctly, I think it was more for Ted to get his feelings out so he can move on

While I think Michelle is smiling there at the end, I don't think it was malicious. I think that she's seeing the growth in Ted and how he was able to express his emotions without trying to make a joke or deflect the truth/pain. Ted never talked with Michelle about his dad. He kept her at arms length like he did with everyone else by always being happy. Maybe that was part of the reason she couldn't stand his happiness; she always knew it was fake. I also love the Bob Dylan song "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright" playing as their conversation wrapped up. The whole song is a great response from Ted to Michelle: It ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe If'n you don't know by now And it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe It'll never do somehow When your rooster crows at the break of dawn Look out your window and I'll be gone You're the reason I'm a-traveling on But don't think twice, it's all right And it ain't no use in turning on your light, babe That light I never knowed And it ain't no use in turning on your light, babe I'm on the dark side of the road But I wish there was somethin' you would do or say To try and make me change my mind and stay But we never did too much talking anyway But don't think twice, it's all right So it ain't no use in calling out my name, gal Like you never done before And it ain't no use in calling out my name, gal I can't hear you anymore I'm a-thinking and a-wonderin' walking down the road I once loved a woman, a child, I'm told I give her my heart but she wanted my soul But don't think twice, it's all right So long honey, babe Where I'm bound, I can't tell Goodbye's too good a word, babe So I'll just say, "Fare thee well" I ain't a-saying you treated me unkind You could have done better but I don't mind You just kinda wasted my precious time But don't think twice, it's alright

Michelle’s smile .. not an evil smile. She’s been with Ted for a long time .. remember Ted saying that wife complains that his “constant optimism is too much.” He never talked about bad things, like his dad. Michelle’s smile was her being proud of Ted for his growth and being able to confront her about it without making puns or being too cheerful. If that makes sense.

Nate is very interesting as a character. Sure, we hate some of the things he's done and the way he treated Ted. But as you said he's not that intolerable. He's just so damn insecure and always looking for validation in others. I get it. I also spent a good chunk of my life the same way so I have some empathy there. Those insecurities drive him to behave poorly. But he does have a conscience. You can see him trying to do better. He wanted to talk to Ted, but now that Rupert has his claws in him, he has to please him. Rupert on the other hand is narcissistic and a sociopath. He doesn't care that the things he does hurts others. It's fun for him. I also think that smile from Michelle was because Ted actually said what he really felt. And hopefully because she realizes he's right. She's an adult and can date who she wants, but when she brings that person into her son's life it should be a discussion involving Ted. I still don't like that it's the therapist, but I blame Jake more than Michelle for that. He's the professional. It's on him to keep that relationship within bounds. It's easy to hate Michelle because we love Ted so much. But I don't think she's a malicious person out to intentionally hurt him.

Fuckin hell, that Winnie the Poo comment cracked me up
