Love this episode. The beautiful parallels between the ‘Man City’ and this ‘Mom City’ episode to explore the emotional trauma and growth of the characters using their parental influences is so wonderful and heartbreaking and such a boost to the Kleenex industry so we can wipe our tears. 😭😃❤️ So sad there’s only 1 more episode in the season but excited to rewatch it again. This show has such a lovely arc to everything and everyone and it’s so nice to re-experience it through new eyes again!

Probably my favorite episode. Especially coming after Nate’s discussion with his dad which really changes Nate’s perspective. I really like how characters’ epiphanies in this series tend to come through quieter moments and not some over-the-top explosion of emotion that typically come across as maudlin.

This episode has the best combo of humor and pathos (besides the funeral episode). Love how Coach Beard is equal parts silly and menacing. His speech to Nate manages to say EVERYTHING that needs to be said about why he goes where Ted goes. An ENTIRE backstory arc in under 2 minutes.

Your worried about your hair, Jamie's worried about is. Weird transition from Beard quoting "Yellow Brick Road" (Elton John) into Maye reciting that poem. Oh - Buzzcocks - "Why Can't I Touch It?" (song playing when Jamie leaves after the movie) Wtf is with Jamie and his mum? I love Jade. Hahaha - the posters. Loved how the episode started a bit chaotic then tightened up by the end. Loved your reaction, thank you, Claudie. See ya at the finale. Cheers!

Sunflowers are the state flower of Kansas, which Ted mentions briefly in the Amsterdam episode hence his love of sunflower seed bread. Also, the pinball machine at the Crown and King is Wizard of Oz themed, another Kansas reference
