New show time! This was reccomended to my by a few people...

Set in the same universe and Vox Machina, and from the minds behinds Critical Role, we have The Mighty Nein.

The animation, in my opinion, is wonderful. And this has some dark themes, I'm curious to see how it will explore.

I really enjoyed this show and can’t wait for you to meet the other main characters. No one else has mentioned it yet so it might just be me but at several points the video froze for one or two seconds before jumping ahead even after reload and in two different browsers.

something i don't think you picked up on: mighty nein isn't just connected to critical role. it is a direct adaptation of their second dnd campaign, although they have made significant changes to adapt it for a show. all their campaign episodes are on youtube for free, although it is a huge time sink, with an average episode length of about four hours and 140+ episodes just on campaign 2 (mighty nein)

Yes, familiar with that theyre on youtube, a buddy of mine sent an ep to me once, but it was so long I never got a dent into it hehe!

yeah. don't worry about watching the original. you wont need to have seen any of it to understand the show. once you have finished the show, i do recommend watching the 'table to screen' compilations on youtube (and maybe reacting to them if you have time but no pressure). they're videos where people have stitched together the important moments in the original campaign that have been covered by the show with the adaptation so people can see the similarities and differences. they're quite fun

Overall the video quality was fine. It wasn’t a big issue; the TMN episode I’ve seen multiple times now anyway.

Can’t wait for you to meet the rest of the group. One thing I did notice is that when Caleb was speaking Zemnian “there name for him speaking German”, you didn’t get the translation come up. It didn’t really matter here, but there are future episodes where he speaks in that language for longer periods, so may get confusing.

In all honestly, no. She's great, but Caleb and a certain green character from episode 2, are my favourite right now.

Not a prequel to Vox Machina - it's the other way around, fyi. Mighty Nein takes place about 20-25 years after Vox Machina - same universe, same world, we might even see some characters from TLVM at some point in future seasons of TMN since some of them made appearances in both campaigns 2 and 3. (And, yes, I should be studying right now and am definitely watching this instead)

I didn’t even notice the missing subtitles (upside of speaking German) but you’ll really want to have them enabled for episode five.

yeah, it's bizarre. I have subtitles off completely, but still got the translation subtitles. Hopefully a solution will be found because god help if Claudie has to google translate certain scenes.
