Yeah, this episode is a rough one. Even for people like me that watched the campaign and knew where this was going, seeing it brought to life in animation puts it on such a whole other level.

I heard someone say that this episode was one of the most accurate portrayals of grooming they'd ever seen, and I can't say I disagree. Trent 'Icky-thong' is the most despicable villains I've seen in a long time

We love it when you pause to comment on something, hahaha, that's why we're here, haha. No need to apologise at all. That magic school looks like Hogwarts, lol. Always trust your pet's gut feeling; the fact that he scratched that guy means he was no good. Caleb killing that woman gave me a lot of Roy Mustang vibes (Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood). These gory fight scenes remind me a lot of the gore in Blue Eye Samurai haha.

I think this might be my favourite episode, just for how well they handled Caleb’s backstory. We’ve seen broken characters before but I can’t think of another that we get to watch get to that point in this sort of way. Feeling both disgust and pity is completely valid, and what the writers were going for, I think. Like it or not, Bren is a monster, who has done horrendous things, but having watched some of the manipulation and indoctrination that changed the eager farm boy into that monster, plus having spent time with the broken Caleb, you can’t help but pity him. He was made into a weapon and used, instead of getting to help people like he wanted. Anyway, great vid as always. Not sure I’ve seen you that stunned before.

Now that I've seen the video, the fact that you started it by predicting things were "heating up" is just too perfect.

Lots of subtle stuff going on in this one underneath the Caleb plot line. Molly, while showing Jester some unconditional love, mentioning that his "blood tracking" from the prior episode was a whole new thing to him... or was it? Nott having formerly been a companion to an alchemist (she sure is drawn to magic) for whom she harbors some regrets about (keepsake button related? dunno). Fjord, in his delirium, returning to the moment of his "rebirth" and purpose. All this while Caleb comes to grips with his past and Beau faces a future that may not entirely be in her hands anymore. It's pretty incredible how well this show is written that EVERY character becomes more revealed in EVERY episode while they follow each others' arcs.
