I will do my utmost to get another of these out before the end of the month...

Good to see we can expect more great banter from Ser Brynden and Jon. Wonder how Stannis will feel when he hears who put in a good word for him. Great chapter.

It would be amazing if we could have more updates, but even if it is just one chapter a month I'll still be here, one of my favorite stories

I love this story it is probably one of the most unique and interesting game of thrones fan fictions I’ve ever read but I kind of wish you’d have stuck closer to the cannon timeline for things. Having the timeline excellerated 2 decades north of the wall but stay mostly on track south of it is super weird. Val is within a few years of Jon’s Snows age in cannon so having her just show up 2 decades older not mention Mance Tormund and all the other wildlings being of a similar age and position they were in 20 years from now canonically is just confusing. It would have been cool to see the dichotomy of Rhagaer’s Rhein vs Robert’s Rhein over the same 16 years following the rebellion. Having Jon foster and raise Aegon and Danny and seeing the differences between known characters when cannon rolled around would have been cool. I know it likely would have involved several time skips over that time but jumping straight from Harenhall straight to whitewalker invasion was pretty jarring. It would have just made more sense to me to have the whitewalker invasion take place around the same time and just give Jon 16 years to prepare.

Hmm, so based on what Ned said at the start it has been some time since Jon appeared in the Godswood, years, but I somehow feel like it hasnt felt like years have passed. No one really speaks to time, or travel taking time, and its sort of felt like 1 year has gone by since Harrenhal. But building or rebuilding castles is usually an affair measured in decades for more impressive ones like Moat Cailin, or the one described at Sea Dragon point. To top it off, the age of some children doesnt feel well represented based on their development, but its all so vague its hard to tell how much time has passed. I think an effort has been made here, because the story does have times where journeys take time, but it only ever feels like it when Jon is on a trip. For everyone else they just leave and appear. Its not universally bad, but I do think this segment of storytelling can be improved specifically in a setting like game of thrones where cars, trains, planes, or apparating do not exist and journeys are much lengthier and cant be played as fast and loose with. If they have been kept track of author side, then the relaying of that sense of time to the reader hasnt been felt well on my part.

I do think a good job of characterization has been done in the story thus far. I think the only one who stood out to me as maybe not true to himself (within context of the story) was tywin, and even then its marginal.
