The first years of Harry's schooling will not be dragged out needlessly, but there will be more than enough to build us towards character development and plot advances...

Excellent chapter, I’ve been really enjoying this so far. Can we not go the route where Hermione dies by the troll because Harry’s not there though, it’s disturbing how many fics go that way.

Deity

I wouldn't call it "disturbing," because with Harry not being there she almost certainly dies.

Marcel

Maybe without Harry as his friend Ron will be less outspoken and will not insult Hermione. Than she would not be in the bathroom. Also in the book it was Harry who locked the door after the troll entered the bathroom, so without Harry Hermione might be able to just run away from the troll.

Matthew

It’s disturbing that parents send their 11 year old child to a school where they Hope she’ll grow to learn magic and make friends have to pick up her body in pieces 2 months later.

Matthew

Especially in this case, where Dumbledore hired and allowed the one who released the troll to teach at his school knowing something like this could happen. If you don’t find that disturbing, I don’t know what to tell you.

Jonas Engell

So far both stories where Harry don't go to Hogwarts have Hermione living so, she likely will.

Matthew

I hope so, we’ve never really seen her much in any of these stories, if I’m remembering correctly.

I hate to say it, but that is literally the cannon storyline if not for plot armor. Hermione also nearly died to the basilisk in 2nd year, and was put under the lake in 4th year with highly questionable security and safety, and lets not forget Umbridge and the blood quill. If we are even semi realistic, a good amount of people should have died and we are literally told the only reason the basilisk didn't kill anyone was dumb luck.

Marcel

And Hagrid would probably be in Azkaban because there would be no one to get him to get rid of Norbert. Well Dumbledore could pull some strings maybe. Without Harry hearing the Basilisk Hermione would have no clue what is responsible for the attacks so would likely not investigate it. She could still be attacked but so could be every other person in the castle.

Surprised people are deeping the Troll incident soo much. Harry does help, but it was Ron who showed who he truly was... there when it counts. Re the chapter itself, I enjoyed the little anecdote about Ted & the Griffin. Don't like 'it's as if I'm re-remembering the spells' again. It was good the first, second and possibly the third time, but for me it just feels undeserved now. Anyway, thank you for the chapter!

My problem with the original comment was you saying it's "disturbing how many fics go that way" (Hermione dying to the troll.) I can agree that it's messed up in terms of the implication of her death but theres nothing disturbing about the A+B=C or fic writers doing that. (Ex. Canon Harry suggests to find Hermione, Harry/Ron saves her, she lives. Fanon Harry isn't at hogwarts, they don't suggests that Hermione be found, she dies.)

TheNinja

Hermione wasn't that brave back then though and she had more book knowledge than practical.

I do like that name Sabine, rather unique name, way her last name is too made me think of the last name of a character from Sleepy Hollow honestly.
