Apologies for the delay with this, it was much harder to write than I expected...

The next chapter will follow on directly fro this, and there will be other POV's from around the Seven Kingdoms.

Jon is going to need a family name now. I’m curious as to what you have in mind. Can hardly make the northern bastard title the name of a lordly house, shouldn’t go with a variation on Stark, even if rickard would likely be fine with it with the history of the Greystarks and the future-history of the Karstarks. Can’t go Targaryen even if it makes sense from Jon’s point of view. a variation on Dayne would be odd in a patriarchal society. Something to do with Sea Dragon Point would make sense, but doesn’t exactly fit the naming conventions of Westeros. “Something-point” would work. Whitewolf would work. Idk

I have been thinking about why Rickard has not made Jon official so that he has a surname and more now that he is going to be Lord of a house, it would be interesting to see what comes out of it. I really liked the chapter. I want to see where everything ends up.

Lord Jon Whitepoint…Wolfpoint….Seapoint….Whitewolf….?

Just being completely honest... everyone constantly complimenting Jon is getting old. Otherwise, it's nice as always to get a chapter of this story. I honestly didn't see Jon becoming a lord in this, but probably because I can't picture how it helps him prepare Westeros for the coming threat. Or to avoid other issues. But I didn't anticipate this may be a very long-term plan, like long enough for him to have a family and all, and for the children (Rhaenys, Aegon, and Daenerys) to grow up.

This was an amazing chapter. Glad the Starks are holding Jon close. Giving him Sea Dragon Point puts him in a position to combat the Others, while protecting the North from internal and external threats. Rhaella and Rhaegar were smart about protecting Dany. Jon and Ashara is a well balanced relationship, as is Brandon and Barbrey.

Taking his wife’s name would not be weird. He’s officially a bastard (‘Snow’) so marrying into a noble line with a 10,000 year pedigree and not taking his wife’s name would be weird. And the Daynes already have at least one cadet House (from which the Darkstar originates) and possibly a second (House Jordayne). So I could see the head of House Dayne not being displeased with a cadet house in the North. And from Jon’s perspective, he has a lot of Dayne blood in his veins, so taking their name would not be dishonorable.

Why do you think Jon believes he has Dayne blood in his veins?

So Barbery is an excellent rider... Lucky Brandon.

Because Maester Aemon's mother, Dyanna was a Dayne - his great-great-great grandmother.
