Still so jarring to see Sazza dead-I never could allow it to happen in any of my playthroughs... interesting that Durge disapproves. Makes sense for his character in this arc!

Actually, in the comic, killing Sazza gives Durge approval. The reason is because of his violent blood calling to him. It'll grant him inspiration ingame. Durge recognizes the goblins as a threat to the grove, which also means a threat to their own safety. He believes they are better off dead. Tav believes similarly. Durge also approves whenever you allow Lae'zel to interrogate the tiefling because it shows that the player is willing to allow Lae'zel or other party members to act in their own way (within reason). It gives the companions a little more freedom in Durge's eyes.

I agree about the second point. Although I stopped Lae'zel when she said "lower" in my playthrough. While I want my companions to be respected, I draw the line at enabling overt arrogance. #/ Kinda divided about the first though. While it definitely makes sense for a Durge MC to gain inspiration from this, I'm not sure the same can be said for this option being the one a Durge companion would approve of. Sazza always survived this event in my playthrough. Not because I particularly care about her, but because I care about the refugees. Allowing someone to kill a defenseless prisoner fosters a disregard for moral lines and emotional restraint that is quite ominous, regardless how evil that prisoner may be. And seeing as Durge as a companion is clearly trying to push back against his inbred violent tendencies, I'd figure seeing Tav not stopping other people from giving into their dark impulses would distress him. Make him worry that she wouldn't put a decisive stop to HIS either if he ever faltered. Personally I think it'd make the most sense game-wise to have Durge approve of either path, but have the choice be one of those that influence his secret moral counter as part of his companion questline. With the violent option making him more inclined to embracing his fathers heritage, and the peaceful outcome strengthening his resolve to reject it.

Interesting perspective! Yeah, I could never kill Sazza in any of my playthroughs. Biggest reason is I loathe misplaced revenge and can't bring myself to kill prisoners, but also for the selfish reason of I find the goblins have way more entertaining personalities. I'm a simp for scrungly little weirdos. Same reason I never killed the kobolds in the monastary-that and they're not really hurting anyone, just belligerently drunk out of disappointment.

Lol. Understandable with the gobbos. Tav and Durge just share that reasoning that since the goblins are already killing people for the grove - the place they are using for shelter - and the grove itself will be threatened, they only let Sazza die for the safety of the grove and their own party too. Plus! Wyll also wanted her dead.

Well. The thing is. Free XP. Bye bye Goblin. Lol jk. I can see the points, Arcana! Albeit, there are reasons in story as to why Tav and Durge approve and do said actions. Durge doesnt like the goblins because they threaten the party. Specifically, they endanger showing the grove's location off. Sazza escapes, and she'll come back with their location. Ingame, Durge is inspired by this. He sees the goblin's death as a sensible needed death to protect their shelter, rather than a "right or wrong" thing. Same with Tavella, as she is written to not "always" agree with laws or black and white view points. After all, she is a Shadow Monk. Plus, Wyll approves of letting Sazza die too! And we can presume it's because of his Early Access lore of not liking them. Even though his lore changed in the final produce, he isn't necessarily disregarding the reasoning for Sazza being a "defenseless" prisoner, but more so siding with the grove's safety and distrusting all goblins. But hey, another point for this is because this balances out the approval for all companions. Because Karlach, Shadowheart, and Gale approve of letting Sazza live. Astarion, Durge, and Wyll approve of letting her die. Perfectly balanced as all things should be!
