Author's Note: Heyyy! So, a lot of you were pretty mad when Everything Meant Nothing ended on that dramatic note with Luke kissing Troy and leaving you all hanging. So… guess what? The story is officially coming back!
This continuation will have 7 parts plus one bonus, and it will finally bring the story to a proper close.
I know a few of you didn’t want this one to return, but this update is for everyone who voted “yes” in last month’s poll. Still, I hope all of you enjoy this 8-part (sort of season 2?) that wraps up Everything Meant Nothing once and for all.
────────────────Previously on Everything Meant Nothing…
Troy couldn’t escape Luke, no matter how hard he tried. In the middle of the night, his phone lit up with a message he never expected: Luke was in the UK, standing outside his building, begging to see him. Against his better judgment, Troy went. Under the streetlight, Luke confessed everything he had buried for years… that he still loved Troy, that he had never moved on, that pushing him away had been the worst mistake of his life.
Troy broke down, torn between anger and longing, unable to hide how much Luke’s words still hurt. And then, before he could stop it, Luke leaned in and kissed him. The kiss was fragile, desperate, full of everything unspoken. For a fleeting second, Troy kissed him back, before pulling away in tears, caught between the ghost of his first love and the reality of the life he was building with Theo.
What Troy didn’t know was that Min had followed him outside. From the shadows, Min saw everything… Luke’s arrival, the confession, and finally the kiss.

Part 21: Two Worlds
I sobbed into my hands, knees weak, the world spinning. I hated him. I loved him. I didn’t know.
And then reality slammed into me.
I shoved Luke’s chest, harder than I meant to, staggering back a step. “No,” I gasped, shaking my head. My chest heaved, breath breaking apart between words. “You don’t get to do this to me. You don’t get to walk back into my life, kiss me, and think—” My voice cracked, jagged, bitter. “—think that makes up for anything.”
Luke’s face crumpled, but I couldn’t stop. The words poured out, raw and ugly. “You broke me. Do you get that? You made me feel like I wasn’t enough. Like I was weak. Like I was something to be ashamed of. And now you show up here, like it’s nothing? Like I’m supposed to just fall back into your arms?”
His eyes glistened, but I didn’t care. “You made me feel unwanted,” I said angrily.. “And now you’re saying you love me? Now? It’s too late, Luke. It’s too fucking late.”
“Troy, please… listen to me”
“No!” My throat tore on the word. “You don’t get to ask anything of me. You don’t get to want me now that you’ve lost me.”
The tears blurred my vision until the world swam. My whole body shook. I turned away before I collapsed right there on the street.
And then I ran.
────────────────Back through the quiet campus paths, past the streetlight that buzzed over my head like it was mocking me, past the door that banged too loud when I shoved it open. My trainers slapped against the steps, my chest ripping apart with every breath. I didn’t stop until I was inside, the familiar hallway swallowing me up.
I pressed my back to the wall, hands digging into my hair, trying to breathe, trying to stop the quake in my bones. My lips still burned from that kiss, the taste of him clinging, and I hated it. I hated him. I hated myself for letting it happen.
And then—
“Troy...”
My head snapped up.
Min stood at the end of the hallway, arms folded, eyes dark and unreadable. My stomach dropped through the floor.
“What..what are you...” My voice tripped over itself. My chest seized. “You—you followed me?”
He didn’t move, just tilted his head. “I saw everything.”
Panic surged, ugly and sharp. I shook my head, stammering. “No…you don’t…you don’t understand. It wasn’t”
“Troy.” His voice cut through, steady, calm, but it pinned me harder than shouting ever could. “Stop.”
I froze, words choking in my throat.
Min stepped closer, slow, careful, like I was some wounded animal ready to bolt. “I’m not judging you Troy... I’m not angry. I just… I need you to hear me.”
My back pressed harder against the wall, nails biting my palms. Shame crawled hot under my skin, a sick weight in my stomach.
“I saw him kiss you,” Min said quietly. “And I saw you kiss him back.”
The room tilted. I shook my head desperately. “It wasn’t—no, I didn’t—”
“It’s okay.” He lifted a hand, not to touch, just to steady. “I know you’re confused. But you can’t keep doing this to yourself.”
My chest clenched. “Doing what?”
“Living in two worlds.” His voice softened, but it cut sharper than any blade. “You’re here with Theo, you’re building something real with him. And then Luke shows up and you’re torn apart, because part of you is still stuck in the past.”
I squeezed my eyes shut, breath ragged. “You think I don’t know that? You think I wanted this? I hate him, Min, I hate what he did to me—” My voice cracked. “But when he looked at me tonight… when he said those things…”
“You still felt it.”
The words sliced me open. I hated how true they were.
Min sighed, stepping closer until he was right in front of me. His eyes weren’t cruel, weren’t mocking. They were steady, gentle, but firm. “Troy, listen to me. You can’t keep tearing yourself apart like this. You need to choose which world you’re in. Luke will always be your first love. But Theo…Theo’s the one here, the one who’s showing up every day, the one you don’t have to hide with.”
Something in me cracked at those words. My throat burned, tears threatening again.
“He trusts you,” Min said softly. “And you owe it to him and to yourself to decide. Not to drift in between and let it destroy you.”
I pressed my fists to my eyes, shaking my head. “I don’t know how.”
“You do.” Min’s voice was quiet, certain. “Deep down, you already know. You just have to stop being afraid of it.”
Silence fell, heavy and suffocating. My breaths came too fast, too shallow. My whole body trembled, caught between collapse and confession.
Finally, Min reached out, resting a hand briefly on my shoulder. Just a touch, grounding, steady. “Get some sleep,” he murmured. “But remember what I said. Choose. Because if you don’t… you’ll lose them both.”
And with that, he left me there, shivering against the wall, hollow and broken and drowning in the weight of his words.
Two worlds.
And I couldn’t live in both.
────────────────The hallway felt colder once Min left. His words lingered like ghosts, twisting tight in my chest until I could hardly breathe. Choose. Don’t drift. Don’t lose them both.
I dragged myself back into the flat, shoes in hand, trying not to wake anyone. Every creak of the floorboards sounded like an accusation. My palms still burned, my lips still tingled, like the kiss hadn’t really ended. I hated myself for remembering the taste of it. For letting it happen at all.
Theo’s door was still cracked open. My steps slowed.
I peered inside, barely breathing.
There he was. Curled beneath the blankets, blond hair a messy halo on his pillow, one arm draped lazily over the edge of the bed. His chest rose and fell with easy rhythm, steady, safe. The sight of him punched something deep in me.
Safe. Trusting. Mine.
And I had snuck out.
I lingered in the doorway longer than I should’ve, gripping the frame until my knuckles ached. What would he think if he knew? If he saw me standing there like a thief in the night, the ghost of another boy still on my lips?
The guilt pressed so heavy I almost buckled under it. My throat closed. I shut the door as quietly as I could and stumbled into my own room.
Inside, the silence was unbearable. The shadows stretched too long across the walls, pressing in. I fell onto my bed, pulling the covers over my head, but it didn’t help. My mind wouldn’t stop.
Luke.
Theo.
Two worlds, colliding.
Luke had always been chaos. Every memory of him was tangled up in fire: the sneaking around, the whispered “just not here, not now,” the hot rush of being wanted but never claimed. His kiss tonight had been the same…desperate, trembling, messy. It cracked something open inside me, reminded me of the first time I ever felt chosen, even if it was always in the dark. But the cracks bled too. Because Luke’s love was a wound. No matter how sweet the taste, it carried the sting of being hidden, denied.
And Theo—
Theo was nothing like that.
His kiss had been slow, deliberate. That time, on the sofa, his hand cradling the back of my head like I was something fragile. When his lips touched mine, it wasn’t frantic or stolen…it was whole. It was the kind of kiss that didn’t need shadows, didn’t need excuses. He wanted me in the open, wanted me laughing, flushed, alive.
I closed my eyes, remembering.
The weight of him above me that night after bowling, when we tumbled into his bed, the way his laugh broke between kisses, husky and warm. The press of his mouth down my throat, the trail of heat along my skin. My body arching helplessly beneath his, every touch sparking something so tender it scared me.
It hadn’t been chaos. It had been peace. The kind of peace that burned, yes, but in the best way. A flame that warmed instead of scarring.
Even now, my chest swelled remembering the softness of his lips, the way he’d kissed me like I was the only one in the world. His weight pinning me to the mattress, the steady rhythm of his body rocking into mine until the whole world blurred into heat and breathless whispers. That kiss wasn’t desperation. It was promise.
I wanted to bury myself in that memory. I wanted to drown in it, because compared to Luke, it was everything I’d never thought I could have.
And yet…
Luke’s kiss had cracked something open tonight. Something I didn’t want to name. Something that made me weak.
My throat burned. My eyes stung.
I pressed my palms to my face, tears leaking through anyway.
Why did I let him kiss me? Why didn’t I shove him away?
Because some broken, buried part of me still ached for him. Still wanted to believe his words. Still wanted to believe I hadn’t wasted my first love.
But that wasn’t love anymore. It was grief. It was habit. It was a wound I kept reopening because I didn’t know how to let it heal.
Theo was love.
Theo was the hand that steadied me when I stumbled, the arms that carried me when I was hurt, the soft smile across the table when I laughed too hard at Min’s dumb jokes. Theo was not a secret. He was not a shadow. He was here. He was real.
And I was lying in bed, lips still stinging from someone else’s kiss.
I curled tighter under the blankets, as if I could smother the shame out of myself. My chest ached so badly it felt like it might split in two.
Min’s words replayed, steady and unforgiving. ‘Choose. If you don’t, you’ll lose them both.’
I didn’t know how to face Theo. How to look at him tomorrow morning and not see this guilt written all over my face.
Would he notice? Would he look at me and know?
The thought tore me apart.
I turned onto my side, staring into the dark, my body trembling with exhaustion I couldn’t escape.
Theo’s laugh echoed in my head, the warmth of his kiss burning through the shame.
Luke’s voice lingered too. “I love you, Troy. I couldn’t get over you.”
Two worlds.
And when I closed my eyes, I didn’t know which one I belonged to.
But deep down, a truth whispered like a seed pushing through soil…one day, I’d have to decide.
Because this..this ache, this fracture..couldn’t last forever.
And when it broke, it would take someone I loved with it.
I pulled the blanket over my head, heart aching, throat tight.
How could I face Theo?
How could I look him in the eye tomorrow and not shatter?
The night stretched endless around me, and for the first time since I’d been here, I didn’t feel safe in my own skin.────────────────Everything Meant Nothing | Part 22: The Kiss That Wrecked Me
