Thursday afternoon dragged at the office. I sat at my desk staring at the same layout file I had been pretending to revise for the last hour. My mind kept drifting back to the weekend, to Sebastian’s hands on me, to the way he had looked at me on the rooftop terrace while the city lights glittered below us. The memory still made my skin warm, but it also left a quiet ache behind. He had not called since Sunday. A few short texts, nothing more. I told myself he was busy. I told myself it did not matter. But it did.
My phone buzzed on the desk. I grabbed it too quickly.
Sebastian: “Want to meet up tonight? Got something to show you. 7 PM. Location attached.”
I opened the message. A pin dropped downtown, a high-rise address I did not recognize. My pulse kicked up. I typed back fast.
“Sounds good. But I’m still at the office. Need to go home first. Might be late.”
His reply came in seconds.
“Come straight from work. I don’t mind a hard-working man. Want to see you in your office clothes anyway.”
I laughed under my breath, glancing down at my shirt. It was wrinkled from sitting all day, sleeves rolled to my elbows, tie loosened. Hard-working man. The phrase landed somewhere between teasing and possessive, and my cock gave a lazy twitch at the thought of him seeing me like this. I typed back.
“You sure? I look like I’ve been at this desk since Monday.”
“Positive. 7 sharp. Don’t change.”
I stared at the screen for a second longer, heat creeping up my neck. A billionaire flirting like it was nothing. And yet it made my stomach flip every time.
I glanced at the clock. 6:15. Enough time to clean up a little. I grabbed my bag, headed to the office bathroom. I splashed cold water on my face, ran wet fingers through my hair to tame it, straightened my tie, tucked my shirt in properly.
In the mirror I looked… normal. Tired around the eyes, but not bad. I rolled my shoulders, tried to shake off the nerves. Whatever he wanted to show me, it was downtown. High-rise. Probably something extravagant. I told myself it was just another layer of his world I was stepping into. Nothing to overthink.
By 6:45 I was back at my desk, bag slung over my shoulder. A black car waited curbside when I stepped out of the building. The driver opened the rear door before I even reached it.
“Mr. Hartley?”
I nodded, slid inside. The interior smelled of leather and faint cologne. The driver said nothing else, just pulled into traffic. I watched the city slide past, lights starting to flicker on as dusk settled. My phone stayed silent. No follow-up text from Sebastian. Just the address and the time.
The building was sleek, all glass and steel, rising high above the street. The doorman greeted me by name.
“Mr. Hartley. Mr. Blackwell is expecting you.”
He led me to a private elevator tucked behind the lobby desk. No button panel. He swiped a card, and the doors slid open. The ride up was smooth and silent, numbers climbing to 32. Top floor. Of course.
The doors opened directly into the apartment. No hallway. No foyer. Just open space. Floor-to-ceiling windows wrapped the entire level, the city skyline stretching out in every direction, lights glittering against the darkening sky. The room smelled faintly of fresh paint and expensive wood. Sebastian stood near the windows, back to me, hands in his pockets, silhouetted against the view. He wore a charcoal suit, jacket unbuttoned, looking sexy effortlessly. Even from behind he looked like he belonged here.
Another man stood in the open kitchen area, dressed in a sharp navy blue suit, tablet in hand. He glanced up as I stepped in, offered a polite smile.
I hesitated. “Uhm. Hi.”
Sebastian turned at the sound of my voice. His face softened instantly.
He crossed the room in long strides, arms opening. I walked into the hug without thinking. His hold was warm, firm, one hand settling low on my back, fingers pressing just above the waistband of my pants. The hug lingered longer than it should have with someone else in the room. I felt the heat of his chest through his shirt, the faint trace of his expensive cologne. No kiss. Not yet. But the restraint was there, deliberate, and it made my pulse jump.
Sebastian pulled back just enough to look at me, thumb brushing my cheek. “You look good,” he said quietly. “Told you I wanted to see you in your work clothes.”
I laughed, soft and nervous. “I look like I’ve been at a desk all day.”
“You look like a man in need of a good pounding,” he murmured, too low for the other man to hear.
He stepped aside, keeping one hand on my lower back, and gestured toward the man in the kitchen.
“Evan, this is Phil Dunphy. Best real estate agent in the city for properties like this.”
Phil stepped forward, extending his hand. “Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Hartley.”
I shook it, still feeling Sebastian’s touch on my back. “Likewise.”
Sebastian’s hand stayed where it was, thumb stroking once, slow and possessive. “Phil’s going to show us around.”
Phil smiled, professional and smooth. “Right this way.”Sebastian guided me forward, his hand resting lightly on my lower back. The apartment opened up around us in seamless luxury. Floor-to-ceiling windows wrapped the entire level, the city skyline stretching out in every direction, lights beginning to flicker on as dusk settled. Phil pointed out details casually: Italian marble countertops imported from Carrara, custom recessed lighting that shifted color temperature with the time of day, a private terrace accessible through sliding glass panels that featured an outdoor kitchen and a plunge pool with an infinity edge that seemed to drop straight into the skyline.
We moved through the living area, open and airy, with double-height ceilings that made the space feel even larger than it already was. The kitchen flowed into the main room without any visual break, appliances hidden behind panels of matte black wood. Phil opened a door to the master suite. The room was vast, dominated by a king-sized bed positioned to face the windows. Beyond it, the bathroom had no partition at all, just a continuous flow of marble and glass. A freestanding tub sat near the window, large enough for two, with a rainfall shower beside it that looked carved from a single slab of stone.
I laughed softly. “So much for privacy.”
Sebastian leaned in close, voice low against my ear. “I like the idea of watching you in that tub. No walls to hide behind.”
Phil cleared his throat politely and stepped back toward the hallway. “I’ll give you two a moment to look around.”
He disappeared down the corridor, leaving us alone in the suite.
Sebastian turned to me, hands sliding to my hips. “What do you think?”
I laughed, still taking it in. “I think this place is insane. Are you seriously considering buying it?”
He stepped closer, crowding me gently against the window. “I might be.”
“On a random Thursday?”
“Thursdays are for decisions.” His thumb stroked my hipbone through my shirt. “And I like the view. Especially with you in it.”
Heat crawled up my neck. “Such a show-off.”
His hand slid lower, cupping my ass through my slacks, squeezing once, firm and possessive. I inhaled sharply, cock twitching against the zipper.
“Sebastian,” I said, half warning, half plea.
He chuckled low against my neck. “Relax. Phil’s outside.”
But he did not move his hand. He kept me pinned lightly against the glass, body warm and solid behind me, the city lights reflecting in his eyes when he pulled back to look at me.
We stepped outside. Phil was waiting near the kitchen area, tablet in hand.
I glanced at Sebastian, then at Phil. “So… what’s the damage for something like this?”
Phil smiled. “Forty-two million. But for Mr. Blackwell, we can negotiate.”
I looked at Sebastian and laughed. “Show-off.”
Sebastian smiled, unapologetic. “I’ll have Tyler reach out to you soon.”
Phil nodded. “Thank you, Mr. Blackwell. I’ll coordinate with Mr. Voss.”
He shook Sebastian’s hand, then mine, and left quietly through the front door.
I turned to Sebastian. “So he’s just going to leave us in a forty-two-million-dollar apartment?”
Sebastian shrugged, stepping closer. “Perks of being me. Besides, I already own half the building. This is just the crown.”
He came closer, hands sliding to my waist, pulling me against him. His mouth found mine in a slow, deep kiss. I kissed him back, hands gripping his shirt, but the name Tyler Voss echoed again in my head. It had come up in every conversation lately. Poolside. Dinner. Now here. I pulled back slightly.
Sebastian noticed. “Something wrong?”
I hesitated. “Tyler seems to be everywhere”
Sebastian studied me for a moment, then stepped back just enough to give me space. He walked to the window, hands in his pockets, looking out at the skyline.
“Yeah,” he said quietly. “I told you about him, didn’t I?”
“You told me what everyone knows.” I kept my voice steady. “I still don’t know why you two seem to have a history.”
Sebastian turned back to me. He exhaled slowly.
“Tyler came into my life when I needed someone I could trust,” he said. “Ten years ago. I was younger, hungrier. A business partner tried to poach clients and leak information. It could have tanked everything. Tyler was the junior associate assigned to the case. Sharp. Discreet. He handled it cleanly. No headlines. No fallout.”
He paused, eyes distant for a moment.
“We celebrated that win. Drinks. Conversation. Things happened. He had never been with a man before. I was his first. It was intense. Honest. We kept it going after that. Casual. No strings. He handled my messes, I gave him what he needed. It worked.”
I swallowed. “And then?”
“Then he joined Blackwell full-time. In-house counsel. The lines changed. We both knew mixing sex with work was a risk. He wanted more eventually. A relationship. I could not give it to him then. I was not ready. So we stopped. The physical side ended. The friendship did not.”
He walked back to me, stopping close enough that I could feel the heat of him.
“Tyler knows every secret I have,” he said quietly. “But you’re the one I want here. In my bed. In my life. Not him.”
I searched his face. “So there’s nothing between you two now?”
“Nothing,” he said. “Has not been for years.”
I exhaled, tension easing slightly. But the doubt lingered, small and stubborn.
Sebastian noticed. He stepped closer, hands sliding to my hips, pulling me against him. “Jealous, Hartley?”
I felt my face heat. “A little.”
His laugh was low and warm. He squeezed my ass again, firm and deliberate. “Good. I like it.”
His mouth brushed my ear. “Careful what you ask for. I might have to prove it.”
I shivered. “Maybe you should.”
Sebastian’s grip tightened. “Careful,” he murmured. “I will.”
He leaned in, kissing me slow and deep, hand still possessive on my ass, the city lights glittering behind us.And whatever questions still lingered about Tyler Voss, they could wait.
Right now, Sebastian’s hands were on me, one sliding possessively over my ass while the other cupped the back of my neck, holding me with the entire city glittering below us.
I kissed him back harder, feeling the heat of him through our clothes. The view, the apartment, the price tag…it all blurred into the background. All that mattered was the way his body was close to mine, mouth claiming me like the rest of the world did not exist.
In this forty-two-million-dollar penthouse, on a random Thursday night, he was kissing me like I was the only thing worth owning.
