My Russian Billionaire Boss ๐| Part 10: The Woman With His Name (Patreon)

All characters depicted in this story are fictional and 18 years of age or older. Everything portrayed is safe, sane, and consensual.
The conference hall emptied slowly. People filed out in waves of suits and handshakes, laughing about valuations and next quarter projections like nothing had just exploded in my chest. I stayed in my seat a second longer, letting the crowd thin. Viktor stood first. His hand left my thigh, but the heat of it stayed branded there. He did not say a word as we walked out. Just led the way through the lobby and straight to the elevator that went to our floor.
The ride up was silent. Too silent. The kind of silence that pressed on my ribs and made every breath feel loud. When the doors opened I followed him through the adjoining door into his suite. He closed it behind us with a soft click. The room felt smaller now. The bed looked bigger. The rain outside had eased into a steady drizzle that tapped the glass like it was counting down.
I dropped onto the edge of the bed. Laptop still in my hands from the hack. The drive burned in my pocket like evidence. Viktor stayed standing for a moment, then sat beside me. Close enough that our thighs touched again. He loosened his tie and dropped it on the nightstand. His shirt pulled tight across his chest as he leaned back against the headboard.
I could not keep it in anymore.
"So thatโs her," I said. My voice dripped with the sarcasm I always hid behind. "Irina Volkov."
The name tasted bitter on my tongue. I hated how easily it rolled out, like I had been waiting to throw it at him.
"The woman who smiled at me in the lobby like we were old friends and then stood on stage like she owned the entire industry. Your ex wife. The one who stole everything and built an empire on your back. Nice twist, boss. You could have warned me I was robbing your ghost."
Viktor did not answer right away. He stared at the rain streaking the glass for a long beat. Then he spoke, voice low and even.
"She was the one who stole everything," he said quietly.
"My prototypes. My ideas. My trust."
He paused, eyes still fixed on the rain outside.
"She framed the whole thing during the divorce. Made it look like I was the one leaking data. Then she launched AetherLynx with my work as the foundation. Turned my name into poison while she became the golden girl of AI security."
I watched his face. The way his jaw tightened just slightly. The way his eyes stayed fixed on the window like he was seeing something from years ago. I tried to picture it. Him and her. Young. Building something together. Then her taking it all and leaving him with nothing but scars and silence. The thought twisted something ugly in my chest.
"And you just let it happen?" I asked. "Why didn't you fight back? You have the power, the lawyers, the reach. One press conference and you could have buried her."
"Because back then I still loved her," Viktor said quietly. "A part of me still did, even after what she did."
I felt the anger rise hot in my chest. Loved her? After she gutted him? After she stole his lifeโs work and left him bleeding in the press? Pathetic. I hated how much that single sentence twisted something ugly inside me. I hated that I cared at all.
"We built everything together in the beginning," he continued. "Late nights coding side by side. Dreaming about changing the game."
I stared at the rain on the glass while my mind screamed. Yeah, I bet those nights were perfect. Until she decided his dreams were worth more as her own empire. The jealousy burned sharper than I wanted it to. I am just the assistant. Just the hacker on his knees. Why the fuck does this hurt?
"When it all fell apart," Viktor went on, voice lower now, "I saw the woman I married. Not the thief. She loved me too, in her way. But when two tech empires clash, love is the first casualty. It was me who filed for divorce. I walked away to protect what was left of my name.โ
I swallowed hard. The anger sat thick in my throat. He still called it love. Even after she framed him. Even after she built an empire on his back. Part of me wanted to laugh. Part of me wanted to punch the wall. And the worst part? I was jealous of a ghost. Jealous that she once had all of him in a way I never would. Pathetic, Kai. You are falling for the man who owns you, and you are jealous of the woman who broke him first.
The words landed heavy. I shifted closer on the bed. My knee pressed against his. The proximity felt dangerous now, like the air between us had thinned. I could not stop the question from slipping out.
"But if you are divorced, why does she still call herself Irina Volkov?"
Viktor stayed quiet for a moment. His fingers traced slow circles on the sheet between us. When he finally spoke, his voice was low and even, carrying that familiar Russian edge.
"I was already established in the industry long before she came into it. The name Volkov carried weight. Respect. Recognition. After the divorce she chose not to change it. She kept it because it opened doors. Gave her credibility she knew she could use. The Volkov name still commands attention in every boardroom and every conference hall."
He paused. His hand moved to my thigh. Fingers spread wide. Warm.
"And part of her still wishes that I would take her back. Even after what she did to me."
The confession sat there between us. Heavy. Raw. I stared at him, chest tight. That part of her still wanting him back twisted something sharp in my gut. I hated how much it bothered me. I hated imagining her hands on him again. Her body under his. The same body I had been craving since the jet.
"That is just fucked up, boss," I said. "That is such a bitch move."
The words came out sharper than I meant them to. I caught myself immediately. Heat rushed to my face.
"Sorry."
Viktor shook his head once. "No. It is. I hated what happened last night. Hated being close to her. Hated talking to her. Hated the way she looked at me like nothing had changed."
I remembered how he looked when he stepped out of that elevator last night. Crisp black shirt unbuttoned just enough to tease the chest I had been dying to touch. Fitted trousers hugging every line of his muscled thighs. Fresh cologne rolling off him like a weapon. He looked like a sex god walking out of a dream, and I had been left upstairs hard and aching, wondering where he was going. Wondering who he was going to.
"So the keycard," I said quietly. "The dinner last night. That was you using the old spark to get what you needed?"
Viktor turned his head. Our eyes locked. His hand moved, resting fully on my thigh now. Fingers spread wide. Possessive.
"It was necessary. Nothing more. I had to do it to get you the keycard."
The answer sat between us like a wall. My chest tightened. Jealousy twisted low in my gut, sharp and ugly. Why the fuck am I feeling this? I am just the personal assistant. The hacker he blackmailed. The guy who sucked his cock on a jet like a desperate slut. I should not care who he sleeps with to get a keycard. But the thought of him inside her, her hands on that body I have been craving, makes my stomach knot. Pathetic. I am falling for the man who owns me, and I cannot even pretend I am not.
I forced the words out anyway. "Revenge sex? Seriously, boss? Even after what she did to you?"
Viktor smiled. Slow. Dangerous. "Careful, Kai. You do not want your boss to think that his assistant is jealous of who his boss fucks."
I smiled back, even though my pulse was hammering. "Touche."
I swallowed. The question burned on my tongue. "But for real. Did you really fuck her? Did you even want to after what she did to you?"
Viktor stayed silent for a long moment. His thumb traced slow circles on my inner thigh. The touch sent heat racing straight to my cock.
"Well..."
