Episode 15: The Boyfriend Experience
We stepped out of Café de la Mairie together into the early evening light. The sun was already dipping lower, painting the Paris streets in soft golden hues. Dylan walked beside me, one hand casually brushing the small of my back. In his other hand he carried a woven picnic basket, the kind with a lid and leather straps that looked brand new.
I glanced at it and could not stop the grin spreading across my face. “What are you holding?”
Dylan smirked, eyes straight ahead. “You’ll find out soon.”
My stomach did a full flip. Internally I was screaming. Oh my god, is he taking me on a picnic date? Please tell me I am right. Jesus, is this man for real? The same Dylan who used to fuck me in secret back in his parents basement is now carrying a picnic basket through the streets of Paris like it’s no big deal for him. Who is he? What has happened to him? I had to bite the inside of my cheek to keep from laughing out loud at how excited I felt.
We walked side by side toward the nearest metro station. His hand stayed at my lower back the whole way, warm and steady. It was the first time we had walked like this in public without any hesitation, and it made my chest feel strangely full. People passed us on the sidewalk, some glancing our way, but Dylan did not pull away. He kept his touch right there, claiming the space next to me like it belonged to him.
On the metro ride, which took about twenty five minutes, we stood close together near the doors. The carriage was half full, the evening crowd heading home or out for the night. Dylan leaned against the pole, his body angled toward mine so our shoulders brushed every time the train swayed.
“You are not going to tell me where we are going?” I asked, looking up at him.
He shook his head, that cocky little smirk still in place. “Nope. You will see when we get there.”
I laughed softly. “You are really enjoying this mysterious thing, aren’t you?”
Dylan’s eyes darkened with amusement. “Maybe I am. You have been getting all the fancy helicopter and yacht treatment lately. Figured it was my turn to show you what I can do.”
The words made my heart stutter. He was trying. Really trying. And the fact that he had planned something himself instead of just taking me to another restaurant made it feel even more special.
When we finally stepped off the metro, Dylan led me uphill along a quiet path lined with trees. The air smelled fresher here, greener. I could already see the park spreading out in front of us, rolling hills and winding paths.
“Buttes-Chaumont,” Dylan said as we walked. “One of the most romantic, lesser-known spots in Paris. Hills, views over the whole city, and a quiet lake. I found it when I was looking for somewhere that was not too crowded or touristy. Thought you might like it.”
I looked at him, genuinely surprised. “You researched this?”
He shrugged, trying to play it cool, but I could see the small proud glint in his eyes. “Maybe.”
We kept walking until we reached a hidden viewpoint on one of the higher hills. The spot was perfect, a grassy clearing with a breathtaking view of the city below. The Eiffel Tower stood in the distance, the Seine glittering faintly, and the sun was just beginning its slow descent, turning the sky into shades of orange and pink. A quiet lake shimmered far below us, surrounded by trees. It felt private, like the rest of Paris had faded away.
Dylan found a soft patch of grass and spread out a thick blanket from the basket. He motioned for me to sit first, then lowered himself beside me. I watched as he started unpacking everything, and my mouth actually fell open a little.
There were fresh croissants and strawberries from the patisserie, the same ones I loved from Madame Claire’s. Two bottles of my favourite fresh juice. A small container of protein snacks and two cold beers.
I laughed in disbelief. “Oh my god, is that from where I work?”
Dylan nodded, looking pleased with himself. “Madame Claire packed them herself when I told her it was for you. She said you always sneak the strawberries when you think no one is looking.”
I felt my cheeks heat up. “You remembered all of that?”
He handed me a croissant, his voice dropping into that cocky tone I knew so well. “Of course I did. I know you like the fancy stuff Lucien gives you, but I also know you get hungry and you have started loving my protein snacks lately.” He winked. “Figured I would cover all the bases.”
I took the croissant, still grinning like an idiot. “You are really trying hard tonight, aren’t you?”
Dylan leaned back on his elbows, stretching his long legs out in front of him. His black polo rode up slightly, showing a strip of toned abs. “Trying? Nah. This is just me showing you what the Dylan boyfriend experience looks like outside the bedroom.”
We settled in properly then, the blanket warm beneath us, the city spread out like a painting below. Dylan handed me a beer and opened one for himself. The sun was slowly sinking, painting everything in that soft golden light that made Paris look like it belonged in a movie.
He watched me take the first bite of the croissant, his eyes lingering on my mouth. “Good?”
“Perfect,” I said honestly. “This whole thing is perfect.”
Dylan smirked, but there was a softer edge to it now. He reached over and brushed a crumb from the corner of my lip with his thumb, the touch casual but possessive. “Told you I could show you a good time.”
We sat there eating and bantering, the conversation flowing easily between us. Dylan was trying hard to make this romantic, but he was still very much himself, dominant and cocky in his teasing. Every now and then he would say something filthy under his breath or give me that look that promised more later, and I felt my body respond instantly.
This was the boyfriend experience I had been quietly hoping for.
And Dylan was delivering it in the most Dylan way possible.I took a bite of the protein snack and looked at him, the city glowing softly below us. “This is really thoughtful, you know that? The basket, the food from the patisserie, the protein snacks, the beers, this whole spot. You put actual effort into this.”
Dylan leaned back on his elbows, stretching his long legs out in front of him. The black polo rode up just enough to show a strip of his toned abs. He smirked, but I could see the small flash of pride in his eyes. “Yeah well, I figured you have been getting all the fancy helicopter and yacht shit lately. Time for you to remember what the real deal feels like.”
I laughed softly. “The real deal being a picnic at sunset with protein bars and beer?”
“Exactly.” He reached over and stole a strawberry from my hand, popping it into his mouth. “I know you like the fancy stuff Lucien gives you, but I also know you get hungry after your shifts and you have been stealing my protein snacks for weeks. Figured I would cover all the bases.”
Typical Dylan. Cocky on the surface, but underneath it was clear he had paid attention. He had listened. He had planned. That mix of arrogance and genuine care made my chest feel warm in a way I could not explain. This was not the secret basement fuck from back home. This was him trying to be something more, and he was doing it in his own way.
We kept eating and bantering, the conversation flowing easy between us. He teased me about how I always moaned when I ate Madame Claire’s croissants, and I teased him right back about how he had probably spent twenty minutes in the patisserie pretending he was just there for a snack when he was actually picking things out for me. Every now and then his hand would brush my thigh or rest on my knee, casual but possessive. The sun was starting to dip lower, turning the sky into soft oranges and pinks that made the whole city look like it was on fire in the best way.
I pulled out my phone and snapped a quick photo of the view, then set it on the blanket for a timelapse. “This is going to look insane for LifeInParis,” I said, mostly to myself, lost in how beautiful everything looked.
Dylan shifted closer. I felt his breath on my cheek a second before his lips pressed there, soft and warm. The kiss was gentle, almost careful, but it still sent a shiver down my spine.
I turned to him, surprised. “I didn’t know you were this romantic.”
He shrugged, trying to play it cool, but the smirk gave him away. “I just Googled romantic spots in Paris and picked the first thing that came up.”
I laughed because I knew he was lying. He had researched this properly. He had chosen this exact spot with the hills and the lake and the perfect view because he wanted it to be special. “No, seriously Dylan. I am obsessed with this place. Thank you for bringing me here. I cannot believe you turned so romantic.”
Dylan’s eyes darkened with that familiar cocky glint. He leaned in closer, voice dropping low. “You have been so obsessed with my dick for the past year that you never actually experienced the full Dylan boyfriend experience outside the bedroom. Figured it was time to fix that.”
I felt my face heat up, but I could not stop smiling. He was still the same horny, dominant guy I had fallen for, even when he was trying to be sweet.
I leaned in and kissed him, slow and deep. He kissed me back, one hand sliding to the back of my neck, holding me there. For a moment it felt perfect, just the two of us with the sunset painting everything gold.
Then I heard footsteps on the path nearby. A couple walking past. Dylan pulled back just enough, his forehead resting against mine, breathing a little heavier.
“Well yeah,” he murmured, voice rough and filthy, “this is part of the boyfriend experience. But it’s only the warm up. You are going to get the real boyfriend experience back at home tonight. The kind where I have you bent over the edge of the bed, moaning my name while I remind you exactly who you come home to.”
I blushed hard, heat rushing all the way down my neck. He smirked, clearly pleased with himself, and pulled me closer so our sides pressed together. His hand brushed mine on the blanket, fingers lightly tracing over my knuckles in public.
We stayed like that as the sun finally slipped below the horizon. The sky darkened into deep purples and blues, and the city lights began to sparkle below us like a sea of stars. Dylan’s shoulder stayed warm against mine, his hand still brushing my fingers, and the promise of what waited for us back at the apartment hung heavy and delicious in the air between us.
The boyfriend experience had officially begun.
And I could not wait to experience the best part of it.⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ Season 3 Episode 16 | My Best Friend’s Brother Dylan
