The glass walls of the executive floor no longer felt like a cage. Kai Lennox sat in his new office, the one directly next to Viktor’s, reviewing the final documents for the AetherLynx acquisition. The title on his door read Senior Strategy Analyst. He had earned the role through long nights and sharp work, and everyone in the building now treated him as such. At the office, he and Viktor kept their distance. They were professional. Boss and employee. Nothing more.

But the moment they stepped into the penthouse at the end of the day, the rules changed.

Viktor would push him against the nearest wall before the door even finished closing. His hands would be rough, his mouth demanding, and by the time they reached the bedroom Kai would already be on his knees or bent over the bed, taking everything Viktor gave him. The man who ran the company during the day became something else entirely at night. Possessive. Dominant. Unrelenting. And Kai craved every second of it.

Today, however, Viktor had asked Kai to stay behind after the others had left.

They were in Viktor’s office. The city lights glowed softly behind the tall windows. On the long meeting table sat a single folder and a small black USB drive. Across from them, Irina Volkov sat with her arms crossed and her jaw tight.

She looked smaller than Kai remembered. The confidence she once carried like armor had cracked. Her eyes flicked between Viktor and the USB on the table, and for the first time since Kai had known her, she looked afraid.

Viktor leaned back in his chair, completely calm.

“You already know why you are here,” he said. “The hostile takeover is nearly complete. Your board has already voted to accept our offer. All that remains is your signature on the final transfer of shares.”

Irina’s mouth tightened. “You think you can just take everything from me?”

Viktor smiled, but there was no warmth in it.

“I am not taking anything that was never mine to begin with,” he said. “That company was built on code we created together. You helped me leave with it. You helped me hide it. And then you tried to use it against me when it suited you. The irony is almost poetic.”

He reached forward and tapped the USB drive with one finger.

“This contains every email. Every recording. Every proof of your unauthorized access while you worked for Orlov Technologies. It shows how you helped me walk away and how you fed information back to him at the same time. You played both sides then. You played both sides with Ryan Hale. And now it has caught up with you.”

Irina’s face paled. She stared at the USB like it was a live grenade.

“You wouldn’t dare release that,” she said, though her voice lacked conviction.

Viktor’s smile widened slightly.

“Try me.”

The silence stretched. Irina’s hands curled into fists on the table.

“You always were good at this,” she said bitterly. “Making people believe you were the victim while you took everything.”

Viktor’s expression hardened.

“I built that company with my own hands while you smiled in Alexei’s father’s face and plotted behind mine. You don’t get to play the victim now. Sign the papers, Irina. Walk away with whatever dignity you have left. Or I will make sure every investor, every client, and every board member in this city knows exactly who you are.”

Irina stared at him for a long moment. Then, slowly, she reached for the pen.

Her hand shook as she signed the final page. When she was done, she pushed the folder across the table without looking at either of them.

“You will regret this,” she said quietly.

Viktor stood.

“I doubt it.”

Irina rose from her chair. For a second she looked like she might say something else. Then she simply turned and walked out of the office without another word. Her heels clicked against the marble floor until the sound faded down the hallway.

Viktor watched her go, then turned to Kai.

“It’s done,” he said.

Kai nodded. He could see the quiet satisfaction in Viktor’s eyes, but there was no cruelty there. Only closure.

AetherLynx was his again. The company Irina had stolen from him had finally come back to him. Only this time, she was no longer part of the story.

Viktor walked over to where Kai stood and pulled him into a slow kiss. When he pulled back, his hand stayed on the side of Kai’s neck.

“Come home,” he said quietly. “I want you on your knees before we even reach the bedroom tonight.”

Kai smiled against his mouth.

“Yes, boss.”

Later that night, after Viktor had taken him apart piece by piece and put him back together again, they lay tangled in the dark. Viktor’s arm was heavy across Kai’s waist. His breathing was slow and even.

Kai stared at the ceiling, listening to the steady beat of Viktor’s heart against his back.

Three months ago, he had been terrified of losing everything.

Now Viktor had his company back. He had his name cleared. And Kai had a real place beside him. Not as an assistant. Not as someone trying to prove his worth. But as a partner. As someone who had fought for him and stayed.

Outside, the city kept moving.

Inside, the two of them had finally found something worth staying still for.

Something worth building.

Something that finally felt like theirs.
