Episode 15: I Couldn't Stay Away From Him

I woke up with the same heavy feeling in my chest that had been there since last night. The barracks was still mostly dark, the early morning light just starting to creep in through the small windows. I lay there for a while staring up at the metal frame of the bunk above me, listening to the quiet sounds of the other recruits still sleeping. My mind kept going back to Sergeant Ashford’s office. The way he had bent me over his desk. The way his cock had felt pressed right against my hole. How close he had been to actually pushing inside me for the first time. And then how he had stopped on purpose.

I could still hear his voice clearly in my head.

“If I catch him touching you again, I will make sure you remember exactly who you belong to in these barracks.”

The warning had been quiet but heavy. I knew he meant it. And that was exactly why I had decided, the moment I left his office last night, that I needed to stay away from Ryder for a while. Not because I wanted to. But because I was scared of what Ashford might do if he saw us together again. Ryder didn’t know what was happening between me and the sergeant. He could not know. If Ashford decided to make Ryder’s life hell in this camp, it would be my fault.

I sat up slowly and rubbed my face with both hands. Around me, a few guys were starting to wake up. Ramirez was already sitting on the edge of his bunk, yawning loudly and stretching his arms over his head.

“Morning, Rhodes,” he said, his voice still rough with sleep. “You look like you got hit by a truck.”

I forced a small smile. “Yeah. Rough night.”

He laughed and stood up, already reaching for his boots. “Join the club. That obstacle course today is gonna kill us all.”

I nodded but did not say much else. I was not in the mood for talking. My eyes drifted up towards Ryder’s bunk. He was still asleep, one arm hanging over the side. For a second I wanted to wake him up like I usually did, just to see that sleepy grin he always gave me. But I stopped myself. Keeping my distance was the smarter move right now. At least until I figured out how to handle Ashford.

The morning obstacle course was exactly as brutal as everyone expected. We ran it in smaller groups instead of as one big team, which meant I did not have to stay glued to Ryder’s side the entire time. I kept my head down and focused on the drills. Climbing walls, crawling under barbed wire, carrying heavy sandbags across the field. My body moved on autopilot while my mind stayed stuck on last night.

Every time I glanced toward the edge of the training area, I caught Sergeant Ashford watching the course. He stood with his arms crossed, his uniform tight across his chest and shoulders. Even from a distance, he looked powerful. In control. I remembered the way he had leaned over me in his office, his voice low in my ear while his cock slid between my cheeks. My stomach twisted with a confusing mix of guilt and want. I looked away quickly before he could catch me staring again.

Julian was on the course too, a few groups ahead of me. Normally he would have given me a small wave or a nod, but today he barely looked in my direction. When our paths crossed near one of the water stations, he gave me a quick, awkward smile and then turned away to talk to someone else. The sight made my chest feel tight. He had seen me and Ryder last night. He knew. And now he could barely even look at me.

By the time the obstacle course finally ended, I was covered in sweat and dirt. My arms and legs were burning, but the physical exhaustion did not quiet the noise in my head. I kept my distance from Ryder during the short water break afterward. When he tried to catch my eye from across the group, I pretended to be focused on adjusting my boots. I hated doing it, but I didn’t know what else to do. If Ashford saw us being too close, who knew what he would do?

The rest of the day dragged on with more drills and equipment checks. I stayed busy on purpose, volunteering for extra tasks so I wouldn’t have to stand around and talk. Every time Ryder came near me, I found a reason to move somewhere else.

I could feel him watching me. I could feel the confusion starting to build between us, but I kept pushing it down. Protecting him felt more important than explaining myself right now.

By the time dinner rolled around, I was exhausted in more ways than one. I ate quickly and quietly at the table, barely joining in the conversation around me. Ryder sat a few seats down, laughing at something Ramirez said, but I noticed the way his eyes kept drifting toward me. I avoided looking back. After lights out, I lay in my bunk for a long time, listening to the sounds of the barracks settling down. The guilt was sitting heavier than ever. I had been avoiding Ryder all day like a coward, and he did not even know why.

I couldn’t sleep.

After what felt like hours of staring at the bunk above me, I quietly slipped out of my bunk and pulled on my boots. The common room was dark and still. Most of the guys were already passed out. I moved carefully toward the door, needing some air. My head was too full. I needed to think. Or maybe I just needed to stop thinking for a few minutes.

The night air outside was cool against my skin. I walked around the side of the barracks, away from the main entrance, until I reached the narrow stretch of ground between the back wall and the tall fence that bordered the camp. It was quiet out here. Peaceful, even. I leaned against the fence and let out a long breath, staring out into the darkness beyond the wire.

I did not hear him approach at first. The sound of boots on gravel made me turn around.

It was Ryder.

He stopped a few feet away from me, his hands in the pockets of his pants. Even in the low light, I could see the serious look on his face. He was not smiling like he usually did when he found me alone. He just stood there, looking at me like he had been searching for me.

For a moment, neither of us said anything.

Then Ryder stepped closer, his eyes locked on mine.

“You’ve been avoiding me all day, Callum. What the fuck is going on?”I stayed quiet for a second, leaning back against the fence. The metal was cool against my back even through my shirt. Ryder stood a few feet in front of me, his hands in his pockets, but his shoulders were tense. Even in the dark I could see the way his jaw was set.

“I have not been avoiding you,” I said, trying to keep my voice light. “I have just been busy with drills and everything.”

Ryder let out a short laugh that didn’t sound amused. “Busy? Come on, man. You barely looked at me during the obstacle course. Every time I tried to talk to you at chow, you found some reason to walk away. And last night after Ashford pulled you into his office, you came back and went straight to your bunk without saying a word to me.”

I rubbed the back of my neck. “It was nothing. He just wanted to talk about my performance during the exercise. That’s all.”

Ryder stepped a little closer. His voice dropped lower. “You are lying to me.”

“I am not lying.”

“Yeah, you are.” He shook his head, and for the first time I could hear real frustration in his voice. “I thought we were past this bullshit, Callum. I thought after everything that happened between us, we could actually talk. But you’ve been treating me like I am some random guy in the platoon all day.”

I looked down at the ground for a moment. The guilt was sitting heavy in my stomach. I wanted to tell him the truth. I wanted to say that Ashford had warned me to stay away from him, that I was scared of what the sergeant might do if he saw us together again. But I could not. If I told Ryder about Ashford, everything would blow up. He would want to confront him. Or worse, he would get hurt in the process. I could not drag him into that.

So I lied again.

“My grandmother is sick,” I said quickly. “My mom called the camp last night. Ashford let me take the call in his office. That’s why he pulled me in. I have just had a lot on my mind today. I am sorry if I’ve been distant.”

Ryder’s expression changed immediately. The frustration softened into something more concerned. He stepped in closer until he was standing right in front of me.

“Shit,” he said. “Is she okay?”

“Yeah,” I lied once again. “She is going to be fine I guess. It’s just… family stuff. I didn’t want to talk about it in front of everyone.”

Ryder reached out and put a hand on my shoulder. His thumb brushed lightly over my collarbone. “Why did you not just tell me that? You don’t have to deal with that shit alone, you know. I am right here.”

I forced a small smile. “I know. I am sorry, Ryder.”

He was quiet for a moment, just looking at me. Then he moved even closer, his body almost pressing against mine. His other hand came up to rest on my waist.

“I thought you were pulling away because of Julian,” he said quietly. “I thought maybe you regretted what happened between us. Or that you were scared he was going to tell someone.”

I shook my head. “It’s not that. I promise.”, I lied again.

Ryder studied my face for another second, then nodded slowly. “Okay. I believe you.” He leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to my forehead. “I am sorry for getting all worked up. I just… I missed you today. It felt weird not talking to you.”

His hand on my waist slid around to my lower back, pulling me gently against him. I could feel the warmth of his body through our clothes. The tension between us was shifting, turning into something heavier. My heart started beating faster.

Ryder tilted his head and kissed me.

It started slow, almost careful, like he was still testing if I was going to pull away again. But when I kissed him back, he deepened it. His tongue slid against mine, and his hand on my back pressed me harder against the fence. I reached up and grabbed the front of his shirt, holding on as the kiss grew hotter.

We stayed like that for a while, making out against the fence in the dark. His body was warm and solid against mine. One of his thighs slipped between my legs, and I could feel how hard he was already. The risk of someone walking by should have made me nervous, but right now all I could focus on was the way he was kissing me.

Ryder pulled back just enough to speak, his lips still brushing against mine.

“You are still into me, right?” he asked, half teasing, half serious. His hand slid down and palmed my cock through my pants to check if the kiss turned me on. I was already rock hard. “Because your cock says you are still into me,” Ryder laughed.

I let out a shaky laugh and pushed at his chest lightly. “Shut up.”

He grinned and kissed me again, harder this time. His hand stayed between us, rubbing me slowly through the fabric. I could feel myself getting harder under his touch. My mind was still spinning with everything that had happened in Ashford’s office, but Ryder’s mouth on mine was making it hard to think about anything else.

He broke the kiss and leaned in close to my ear. His voice was low and rough.

“Turn around.”

I hesitated for a second, my heart pounding. “Ryder… someone could walk by.”

“It’s dead quiet out here,” he whispered. “Everyone passed out after that brutal course. The sergeant is probably in his office jerking off or sleeping it off. No one is coming out here.”

I turned slowly, facing the fence. My hands gripped the metal wire in front of me. Ryder stepped in close behind me, his chest pressing against my back. I could feel his cock, hard and thick, pressing against my ass through our pants. His hands slid around my waist and down to the front of my pants. He unbuttoned them and pushed them down just a little. The cool night air hit my skin, but his hand was warm when he wrapped it around my cock.

“Fuck,” I breathed, my head dropping forward.

Ryder stroked me slowly, his lips brushing against the side of my neck. “You’ve been driving me crazy all day, you know that?” His other hand slid down the back, squeezing my ass before his fingers traced between my cheeks. “I kept thinking about last night. About how good you felt when I had my finger inside you.”

I moaned softly as one of his fingers pressed against my hole. He did not push in yet, just circled it slowly while he kept stroking my cock with his other hand. My grip on the fence tightened.

“Ryder…” I whispered. My voice sounded shaky even to me.

He leaned in closer, his mouth right against my ear. “Don’t be shy, baby,” Ryder whispered, his voice low and rough. “Your husband loves you. And he wants to make love to you tonight.”

A shiver ran down my spine. His fingers were still tracing slow circles around my hole, barely pressing, just teasing. I felt my pants slide further down my legs until they pooled around my ankles. “ Ryder…”────────────────Episode 16 | The Men In My Barracks 🪖

Yeah, you guys are probably screaming “Fuck you, Troy” right now… or maybe just quietly muttering “I hate you” while refreshing the page.

I know. I know. I’m sorry (kind of).

But I really felt it was important to show that space between them — even if it was only for a single day. Callum is carrying so much guilt and fear after Ashford’s warning, and Ryder is starting to feel the distance without knowing why. I loved writing this episode because it shows how Ryder gave him space all day, studying him from afar, but at the end of the night he simply couldn’t stay away.

Callum’s internal struggle is getting heavier. He’s terrified of what Ashford might do if he catches them together again. He lied about his grandmother just to protect Ryder. He’s trying so hard to do the right thing… but the moment Ryder gets close, all that resolve crumbles. That pull between fear and desire is what makes this story feel so real to me.

I hope you guys enjoyed this one as much as I did writing it. The tension is building, and things are about to get even messier.

P.S: I dropped a very subtle hint in one of the images for something that’s coming in a future episode. It’s quite small and easy to miss (I’ll drop the same hint in the next episode too). See if you can spot it.

Now, I hope you can hold your horses and wait for Episode 16. It’s going to be worth it, I promise.

Thank you for reading, and for all the love on this series. You guys are the reason I keep writing these filthy, emotional stories.

See you on the 3rd.

I love this but until Callum tells Ryder what is going on Ashford is in control and I hate that for them. Callum is not protecting them by not telling Ryder the truth about Ashford

Josh

Come on July 3rd! Can’t wait to see what happens here. I feel bad for both of them because they are obviously super close and Ryder must have been going crazy all day without his husband talking to him.

Devin

Well because you said it, I’m not sure if I find it I’m supposed to let everyone know? But different people might find different things. I found cameras. So these guys are busted for sure. Callum better hope that Ashford doesn’t move Ryder to a different platoon. I think Callum and Ryder have fallen in love. Ryder admitted it in this episode. He said the words. Ashford just wants his ass, or mouth, and although the domination is hot, if Callum opens his mouth and tells Ryder he enjoys being dominated occasionally, Ryder can offer Callum everything he needs. I think Ashford is HAF, but, i don’t see an actual relationship there. I don’t see this as casual for either Ryder or Callum. I truly think they’re in love with one another. Now, how to work around that in the army is something different, but I hope they can. It’s what they both need.

Josh

Also I think I may have spotted the little thing you’re talking about in your pictures.

Troy you definitely left us hanging on this one! Callum is only hurting himself and Ryder by not being honest about Ashford but the love between these two is legit for sure, I agree that this episode really does make this story feel real. As for your little hint I’m pretty sure I have it figured out but we will wait until you drop it again to see if I am correct. Thank you as always

i have read and enjoy all your stories here and nothing else to read until you update the ones i have read, so i kept reading this one thinking it will better for Ryder. Easy solution was not keep reading. Still has me curious as to the outcome. You do get me to stay involved though. I read below where they say your bad boy and on this one i agree with them.
