The Airship Andalusia - Classic Comic Book Covers - Parts 1 & 2 (Graphic Novel Format, PDF Version)

We interrupt your regularly-scheduled program for this special feature...

If you are of a certain (old) age and possess significant nerdy tendencies then you probably grew up reading comic books. All of us here at The Airship Andalusia were raised on a steady diet of superhero stories -- The (Uncanny) X-Men, The Avengers, Justice League, Batman, (The Amazing) Spiderman, Dr. Strange (Master of the Mystic Arts), Teen Titans, Superman, The Fantastic Four, Captain America -- just to name a few. Regardless of their thematic origins in Classic literature and identities sprung from Jungian Archetypes, these heroes -- and the villains they continuously struggled to thwart -- were our world. They defined our reality and fantasy.

Today, these same heroes are now mainstream, their stories writ large on the Big Screen. Comic books are no longer the exclusive domain of Nerdom. They are a part of our collective consciousness; ubiquitous in their acceptance by young and old alike.

Harking back to the Days of Yore when we were pimply-faced teenagers playing D&D until 3AM, chugging gallons of Coca-Cola, and debating the finer points of Jean Grey's latest X-Men costume, we wanted to recapture that gritty, euphoric feeling of being steeped in modern-day superhero lore.

So, we put all our other projects on hold, dug out our old sketch pads and colored pencils, and started ideating. We asked ourselves: What would the covers of our more recent stories look like if they were reimagined in classic comic book style? The flood gates of our memories opened and poured forth a rich bounty of cover art concepts.

Here's a look at The Airship Andalusia in classic comic book style that includes cover art and a few reimagined highlight panels from selected works complete with a sprinkling of the mildly-raunchy, tongue-in-cheek humor you've come to expect from The Airship Andalusia.

Enjoy!
