The Airship Andalusia - Variations On A Theme - Part 1 (Graphic Novel Format, PDF Version)
Themes? We have themes? Oh, you mean themes like huge muscular calves, heaving breasts, and muscular female characters? Alright, we know those aren't themes. Those are, um, decorations that help cover-up the themes that run through our stories with thick, rock-hard plates of vein-covered, striated she-muscle. If you were to deconstruct many of the stories found in the annals of The Airship Andalusia, most, if not all, would have a few common themes running through them: self-discovery, overcoming challenges, and dealing with the unknown.
Know thyself. It is exploration of perhaps this most elemental of themes that seems to produce the greatest amount of artistic fodder. Think back to stories like The Airship Andalusia - Return to Seven Moon Crossing, Armageddon Express, The Perambulations of Miss Ophelia Archimedes, Smoke & Ash, The Secret Life of Miss Molly McCorkle, Lady Andalusia, Skaia, Dusk, Frost Heart, and Mekka Mischief Makers, The Contessa of Mont de Cristo (to name a few). Hidden under mouthwatering images of flexing and bulging calf muscle, tons of eye-popping breast meat, and mindblowing feats of strength these are all stories about characters uncovering their true selves. So, why not dig a little deeper?
We have admitted this before: if there is one mistake we would go back in time a fix if we could, it is creating too many characters too soon. Each main character in The Airship Andalusia's bevvy of muscular beauties has a long and complex backstory that could only be adequately laid out in novel format. Trying to do that with graphic novels, short stories, and animated shorts only scratches the tantalizing surface. Even characters like Lady Penelope and Lady Aleksa have depth that to this day remains unexplored. Consider that we have yet to do a piece on both women as girls training at the Academy for Gifted Sovereign Ladies.
One day we'll get there. For now, we just have to make do with fragments.
So, here's a few more of those contextual bits and pieces. Variations on a Theme provides a deeper, more focused exploration of a few of our characters -- some old, some new. Part one features Djinn, Pugs' Mekka sister, Lady Amelia Blacksmoke from Smoke & Ash, Skaia, Lady Aleksa Krane, and Mae Dalton.
Enjoy!
