I've lined all the way up to page 18, which is crazy when I think about it. As it stands I think I can tell this full story in under 30 pages.
With that said, Dolly Dearest is in its earliest phases, some linework is done, a few pages are sketched out, but I'd like to say I have a colorist now, though at what frequency they can color my work is yet to be seen, though I do have faith in them.
What does that mean? Well I want to know how important colors are to you guys. For me, color theory has never been my strong suit. As someone who worked as a concept artist in the past I always approached art from a weird viewpoint and thought of color as a highlight more than a necessity. I've since changed my mind.
I realize from a brand standpoint, color is super important for expressing what is going on in a scene and I'd like to make a full color comic. So I'm thinking with Dolly Dearest, since it will depend on a psuedo-barbie world aesthetic, I'm going to ask my colorist to color it.
So what does that mean for you guys? Well it means that dolly dearest will take more time than a normal comic. I'll still sketch, line, bubble, text, and everything else in the comic, but the coloring will be dependent on the colorist. So if you guys like that idea, please tell me. I can still release the monochrome color free pages if you guys would like, granted they'd have no dialogue, bubbles, or any of that.
The big compromise to that is that I plan on lining and releasing Gyaru Staru during this whole time, so you'd be getting a story inbetween color page releases to tide you over, oh and there's... ya know, mountain dew TG which is still moving along smoothly.
I just want to know how important color is to you guys so please fill ya girl in. <3 thanks
